Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Good morning ladies !!

Day 1 of Week 4 and a new program for the next 3 weeks. Yea !!
I'm ready for a change.

Deanna - What a wonderful breakfast and lunch for today. Fantastic !!
And congratulations on getting Body Fusion done this morning. Way to go !!!

FnV - I'll do your lunges for you, if you'll do my squats for me :p

I'll gripe about squats, but I will do them. Today is the first official day of Body Fusion in our Beginner Rotation so I'm not shirking my duties... well... except for skipping the Lower Body add-on squats and lunges over the weekend. yea.. well.....

I'm sitting here finishing my coffee and then I shall go do Body Fusion before I get distracted doing anything else.

I just weighed myself. I gained half a pound this past week. But that's okay. I'm not surprised. I had Calorie Creep Disease last week plus yesterday's brunch. It just shows that I need to be vigilant in sticking to my plan.

Total weight lost in 2 weeks = 1 pound. I'm happy with that. As I said earlier, it took me years to put this excess weight on. So I'm perfectly happy with losing it slowly too..... as long as the overall trend is downward..

Eat clean.
Work out strong.
Drink lots of water.

We CAN do this. We ARE doing this.

Have a great day team !!!

okay... I'm finished procrastinating on the Internet... lol

FnV - Your knee must be healed if you're doing Body Fusion this morning !!!
Congratulations.

Off to do Body Fusion.........:D

Quick note.... have to get in the shower and get to the dentist on time

Body Fusion - Done !!!!

I had trouble in 3 places due to old age and excess weight :D

1) any place Cathe & crew jump over the step and when they did the "scissors" on the floor. I eliminated the jumps.

2) with both feet on the step, move one foot back into a lunge, pulse, then kick that leg forward. I had trouble keeping my balance on the kick. But that will get better with time.

3) in the last step combo.... the uneven side lunges and "jumpy" side to side lunges. They wore me out. Only did about half of them. But that too will get better with time.

Deanna - 30 oz of water consumed during Body Fusion !!!!! :)

off to the dentist I go... oh joy... oh joy.....:p

OK, so I started BF and was about 20 min into it but stopped b/c babying my knee was keeping me from getting much intensity/joy/cardio yet the workout was still stressing the knee and increasing risk of injury. : (

My knee had improved with rest and I was just anxious to get some cardio workouts in, so I did an Intensity premix on Sun--which sorta put me back to square one (maybe square 2) on the injury list.

So I did a SH shoulders and got ready for work. I like slow n heavy ok. This morning I folded clothes during the 1 min rests. I guess it appeals to the multi tasker/procrastinator in me.

Anyhooo, WTG Susan! Great modifications as needed plus, like you said, you will build up endurance for some of the other spots. I was thinking later, after I'd posted last night, that maybe you could avoid the circuit style workouts that incorporate the lower body? Just treat lower body as a separate fitness entity? It wouldn't work if you were trying to follow a specific rotation (like today) but in general, find a way to still match the fitness goals w/o having a dread factor involved. :::shrugs::: Just thinking out loud...I can go back to minding my own wonky knee business.

My weight loss has been in small increments, too.

Deanna, how are you holding up today? Yummy menu going on over there. I had steamed kale mixed w/ beans sauteed with garlic and onion and coriander. Yum.

FnV

FnV - Sorry to hear that your knee wasn't recovered enough to do all of Body Fusion. I know you'll be careful. You don't want to injure it further and be out for a long period of time.

Please... think out loud all you want !! I'm just whining... lol. I have no problem doing the program as Cathe has it written. I'm just making noise. lol

Deanna - Where are you????? You've been awfully quiet the last few days. Hope you are okay !!!

Hey Susan & Fnv, sorry I have been so quiet today. My 18 year old son is driving me crazy/loco/bonkers! I have been crying on and off for a few days, due to the fact that he feels like he can do what he wants to do! My philosophy, is every action causes a reaction and people need to take responsibilty for their actions, whatever the consequence. My spirt is broken and I am not my usual self. I am not going to let this situation stop me from workingout. Exercise is actually helping me with my frustation.

I have eaten nothing but salad and chicken while at work, I am also still working on my 100oz of water. I changed the calendar on my workout manager to reflect the next 3 - 4 weeks of workouts, and I am still drinking my water.

I bet I lose weight if I want to or not behind this madness.

Broken Spirit
Deanna

Getting off work and going home to have a Glass of Wine.

Hugs, Deanna. I have teenagers, too--18 and 15 so I can relate somewhat. I'm sorry, sounds like you are going thru tough time. I agree in natural consequences, but it is hard to do sometimes. I am glad you are keeping a focus on yourself. You have no control over what others do anyway.

Thanks Fnv, I am home now still drinking my water and going to have me a glass of wine to relax my nerves.

I don't know, maybe it is time for me to let go and allow him to do things on his own. I feel like I am at a cross road with him. He is not a bad kid, just graduated from HS this year, working, has a car. He just does not know home to come home and that worries the "S" out of me. :(

Morning, just finished lower body.

I fixed myself a breakfast shake this morning a banna, several different types of berries, fresh Aloe Vera from the leaf, cantalope and water in blender. I know you are saying ALOE VERA? Yes, I peal the leaf and extract the meat and blend it with Lemon zest, juice and the contents on the lemon and keep it refrigerated. Aloe Vera is good for several differnt things and it keeps me regulated. :)

Lunch will be grilled chicken, differnt types of greens and wheat tortilla.

Snack - cantalope and wanuts.

Starting on my water.

Going to relax before work with a cup of coffe.

Everyone enjoy your workout today and do not forget your WATER. :)

Deanna

Good morning workout buddies !!!

Deanna - I too am sending hugs your way. I am so sorry that you are going through this difficult time with your son. Hopefully, with time, you and your son can reach a happy compromise between his independence and your peace of mind. I know how difficult that is when they are heading into young adulthood. I also hope that working out is helping reduce your stress level.

It sure sounds like you are eating healthy. Way to go Deanna !!!!!!

okay FnV - today's schedule calls for the lower body add on... lol. I can't believe we have to do squats and lunges after just doing them yesterday

But I shall be good and go do our workout as soon as I finish here.

I went over on my calories again yesterday. Sigh. I am good all day long and then from about 8:00 p.m. til bedtime, I get so hungry and crave a snack or two. That's my downfall. I raided the box of Wheat Thins last night and couldn't stop myself. I was craving carbs and I was hungry or, at least, I convinced myself that I was hungry... lol. Not the same thing.

anyway.... no excuses... I just over indulged and caved in to my cravings. Which is, of course, how I gained these extra pounds in the first place. And after having been so good all day long. sigh......

On the other hand, I feel great from yesterday's workout. Sore all over, but that good sore you get from doing a good workout... not so sore that it hurts.

Onward and upward we go...

We CAN do this.... we ARE doing this !!!

Have a great day everyone......

One more thing....:)

I found a great warmup to do before workouts like today's lower body.

I need to do a longer warmup than Cathe and crew do...

sooo... looking through my DVDs I found 2 Richard Simmons from the Sweatin' to the Oldies series. They are exercisey/dancey things set to music from the 50s and 60s... My era... lol.

They aren't difficult, but they do get you warmed up....

So that's what I'll do this morning before our lower body workout.

I'll check in later

Thanks Susan & Fnv for your hugs, I need them. :)

I am still broken hearted but today is another day. :) Throwing myself into my work and exercise to keep my mind off the situation. I taught my son right from wrong and all I can do is pray that he makes the right decisions.

I was looking at the Rotation for the next few weeks, Friday states Brisk walk outside for 40 min. Since I do my workout in the AM before the sun is up, I am going to incorporate Body Fusion instead of the Brisk walk on Fridays. I know me, if I wait until after I get off work my workout will not get done.

WEEK 4, 5, and 6

Mon: Body Fusion

Tues: Lower Body add on with hand weight from Basic Step DVD

Wed: Body Fusion

Thurs: The abdominal add on from the Basic Step DVD plus One segment from total Body stretching

Fri: Brisk walk outside for 40 minutes and a segment from Total Body Stretching

Sat: Upper and Lower body add on with tubing plus abdominal segment from Basic Step DVD (they are all on the DVD)

Sun: A segment from Total Body Stretching DVD

Okay, I am at work so let me get started. Will check back in later. I hope everyone have a great Lower Body workout.

Deanna

WATER.............WATER..............WATER.............WATER..........WATER........WATER :)

I did it and then some... lol

I did 45 minutes of the Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies DVD. It's not difficult, but it is 45 minutes of jumping around the living room like a fool :p

Then the lower body add-on as assigned by Cathe... then my old standard 20 minutes stretching routine.

It felt great... but.. those lunges and squats continue to wipe me out. I'm either going to sleep like a log tonight or I'll toss and turn all night from being sore.

I can't believe we have to do Body Fusion tomorrow. that's 3 days in a row of strenuous leg work .... yikes !! The rest of the week looks easy.

Deanna - I think that's a great idea... to do Body Fusion Friday morning... or you could do any of the step DVDs. Have you tried Low Impact Step yet? I tried it last week and really liked it.

40 ounces of water down the hatch :D

FnV - what's on your workout agenda today? I sure wish your knee would hurry up and heal itself.

And where is Cyndi? Her internet connection must have given out completely....

Off to do laundry.......

We CAN do this... we ARE doing this !!

Go team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Susan, no I have not tried Low Impact Step. I had to check My Workout DVDs to see if I even had that one. lol I will view that one tonight to determine if I can or will do it Friday morning. :) If not maybe I will do Cardio Kick or Kick Max.

You did an awesome job with your workout and water intake today Susan, I am so proud of you. GO SUSAN, GO SUSAN, YOU ARE GETTING STRONG BY THE DAY :)

I do not know what has happen to Cyndi?

Yes, Body Fushion is on the schedule for tomorrow. I sweat profusely while doing this DVD, but I love it. It makes me feel like Cathe has worked me over and out.....lol

I am still working on my 100oz of water, have not been able to get it all down the past few days. But nothing beats a failure but a try. :)

Will check back in later or post in the AM.

Thank you for the support Deanna !!! It felt good to do all that exercise.

I knew that you had the Low Impact Step DVD, because that's what we'll do in weeks 7, 8 and 9. Low Impact Step and Total Body Sculpting. I like both of those....

Off to find something low cal/low fat for dinner. So far, I'm doing well on my eating today. Now if I can just keep myself from the pre-bed munchies.....

See you in the morning. Have a great evening everyone !!!

I am sore......

I honestly don't think I can do lunges and squats 3 days in a row. But I'll decide in the morning.

I may switch the Wed and Thurs programs and do abs/stretching tomorrow and do Body Fusion on Thurs...

Just a thought.... all depends on how sore I am in the morning

See you in the A.M.

:( Sorry you are sore Susan. :(

Remember work at your own pace, if you are sore in the AM take a break or do some stretching and do Body Fushion another day.

I just viewed Low Impact Step and Total Body Sculpting. I do not see a problem with Low Impact Step, however Total Body Sculpting I may have a problem with the Ab workout. :( We still have a few weeks before we start this routine so I have time.

See everyone in the AM after Body Fushion. :)

susan, I bet that Rich. Simmons has fun music. I am happy for you for your new workouts on order. You've gotten some great workouts in~

Deanna, I was thinking of you today and still sending hugs.

My knee is still iffy, but I got a workout in (planned to walk and ended up jogging) plus some body parts.

See ya tomorrow

Good morning !!!

I am sore... lol. And I am going to switch the Wed/Thurs workouts and do abs/stretching today and do Body Fusion tomorrow... then Fri we do a brisk walk and stretching which gives me a day between Body Fusion and our Saturday upper and lower body workout. I think that's a better schedule for me...

The Richard Simmons music is fun. Takes me back to my teenage/college/young adult years and I can sing along to all the songs. The workout is easy but it is a great warmup for any Cathe workout.

Deanna - I love Total Body Sculpting, but I don't remember much about the abs part. I've only tried that DVD once. I'll have to look at it again to see what the ab workout was.....

I really need more ab work. A lot more... lol

FnV - glad to hear you got a workout in. Your knee must have been feeling better if you were able to jog. Way to go !!!!!

I am looking forward to this weekend. There is a cold front coming through Thursday night that is going to do two wonderful things !!! First, give us some much needed rain. Two, drop the daytime temps into the 70s !!! Yea !!! I can finally get outside and do some Yard Max !!!! We have had a very hot summer and when you add in the high humidity it is uncomfortable to say the least. So I'm eager to get out in the yard...

Deanna - as you said.. you have taught your son right from wrong, so hopefully he will make sensible decisions. This is such a difficult age. They think they are all grown up, but we know they aren't quite there yet, so we worry. You and your son are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep working out... I'm sure it is helping to lower your stress levels.

Have a wonderful day. I'll check back later...

Oooooohhhh.... FnV.. in that other thread - where I was asking for advice on what DVDs to buy - I posted that you can get the whole Pure Strength series for $20...... helluva deal. I can't wait to try it....
