Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Susaannnnnnnnnnnn, I do not have Body Max 2 DVD. :(

I do have:
Intensity Series: Pyramid Upper Body
Intensity Series: Pyramid Lower Body
Slow & Heavy 3 Workout Set: Legs & Shoulders
Slow & Heavy 3 Workout Set: Chest & Back
Slow & Heavy 3 Workout Set: Triceps & Biceps

After Cathe beat me like I stole something this morning, I am going to stick with Upper and Lower Body from Basic Step....LMAO I am soooooooo tired at work today, I am leaving early to go home and take a nap.

Deanna

I feel your pain, my friend.

That's how I felt yesterday after having done my 2+ hour marathon on Wednesday. I was so tired I couldn't drag myself around the house....

You may not have Body Max 2, but you've got some great DVDs in the Pyramid ones and the Slow and Heavy. Those have all gotten great reviews here in the forums and on the Cathe shopping website.

I may never do anything else on the Body Max 2 DVD - it's a 97-minute program with some intense step, the upper body workout, intensity blasts, core/abs, lower body. A lot of everything and very intense.... but I do love the Upper Body workout so that may be all I do on that one for a while.

I was tempted to order the Slow and Heavy DVDs, but I promised myself that I'm not ordering any more DVDs because I have the Low Impact Series on pre-order and I am out of money !!! So I have to be good.....

Today, I did exactly what you are talking about doing for tomorrow. I dropped back to the program the way Cathe wrote it :D

And it was good. I enjoyed Basic Step and the Abs add-on far more after having done the "marathon" on Wednesday !!!!

Enjoy your nap !!! You've earned it. You had a great week !!!
Well done, Deanna..........

I am already dreading Body Fusion on Monday

I have BM2 and the original BM. I love them, but I've rarely done them all the way through. I do what Susan is suggesting...upper bod, or just step n blasts, etc. I like shorter workouts and an hour is about the end of my enthusiasm.

Right now, this week, I am doing SH one upper bod part/day while I wait for my knee to improve (it is). Its really the first time I have utilized the SH series. I like them and will do at least another week, even if I do add some other stuff on since one SH body part per day is only about 20 min, 30 if I add abs.

Susan, awesome job on moving straight through your workout! Isn't it empowering to feel those changes? Don't let BodyFusion scare you, you clearly know how to modify and make it manageable. Enjoy!

I am loving the enthusiasm and support~ ::glug glug:: that is me slurping my water

Good Evening Ladies

I have not taken a nap yet. I got off work, went to the .99cent store spent $50 and then went to the Grocery Store and spent $250. I was totally out of food and I really need to start eating healthy. I have been workingout four weeks as of Monday 9.12.11 and I have not changed my eating habit. This is another reason I have not gotten on the scale. I am going to try the 5-day Inferno Diet Plan that came with Turbo Fire. SUPPOSEDLY, if you follow the plan you can kick start your weight loss, 10 pounds in one week. Now, that I am typing this I should have known better!!!! Not sayihg it is impossible, but 10lbs in one week is alot.

Thank god tomorrow is Upper & Lower body only. I guess I will do the warm-up from Body Fushion.

Looking at the Rotation for the next 3-4 week, and after my experience with Body Fushion today. I may have to alter Monday & Wednesday (Body Fushion), with Saturday (Upper & Lower Body w/Abs) and Sunday (Stretch Max). I can not be going to work exhausted like I was today.

Previously I mentioned that I am planning on weighing myself once a month, the 22nd of every month. Since my eating habits have not been good, I am going to try and bypass September 22nd and wait until October 22nd. My 45th birthday is October 4th, I may weigh myself then. When we started 8.22.11, my weight was 185. I logged my weight and measurement in the Workout Manager. I am praying that I see a significant difference in my weight in October. I would like to weigh between 150 - 160lbs and I am 5'6" tall.

Ladies do you feel comfortable sharing your current weight and goals?

Deanna

Good evening FnV and Deanna -

FnV - I am so happy to hear that your knee is feeling better. And I am very proud of you for continuing to work out even though you are injured. That's a great idea... to do one body part per day with the Slow & Heavy series. That series is looking very tempting to me. I love the slow pace. As I said, I'm a stickler for form, so the slow pace of that series is much more appealing to me than some of the other - faster - ones.

Congratulations on slurping your water !!! You know how our Deanna is about us and our water ;) And it's a good thing that she is.... I wouldn't be drinking as much, Deanna, if you weren't reminding me about it.

Deanna - putting my mother/grandmother hat on - I'm not thrilled with the idea of you trying to lose 10 lbs in a week. I just don't think that's healthy, but you are a smart woman. I know you'll read the diet and modify it to make it healthy. We didn't gain the weight overnight and we aren't going to get rid of it overnight either.

I don't mind sharing my current weight and goal. I'm also about 5'6" - 5'7". I haven't had my height measured in years. So we'll call it 5'6 1/2" :p

I was thin all my life .... 118 pounds in college... 123 - 125 in my 20s and 30s .... about 133 - 135 in my 40s.... are we sensing a trend here????? lol

After my divorce 20 years ago - at age 46 - I gained 30 pounds in 3 years. And in the 17 years since then, I've gained about 1 pound per year for a total of another 15 pounds...

I officially weighed myself on Monday, August 29th - 182 lbs.
Goal = 135 That's where I feel "normal".. where my clothes fit properly.

I can't believe that I've let myself gain so much weight and get so out of shape. I've always been active - ever since I was a little kid - swimming, bicycling, tennis, golf and lots and lots of walking.

Now I don't do any of those things. But... I have been going to the gym for a little over a year. 6 days a week doing 3 or 4 miles a day of walking on the treadmill and taking a once a week class of tai chi/yoga/pilates mixed.

However - I did not change how I was eating ...... so in that entire year of going to the gym, I didn't lose an ounce. And... I wasn't doing any weight training. A few biceps and triceps and that was it....

So.... weight training and healthy eating are my mantras for the future !!!

We CAN do this !!! We ARE doing this !!!
Go Team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya in the morning....

One more thought on dieting... well... maybe two thoughts :D

1) The "experts" say that in order to achieve long lasting weight loss and stay healthy, a goal of 1 - 2 pounds per week is good.

2) No matter how many fad diets the world comes up with... nothing changes the science. In order to lose weight, you have to use up more calories than you consume.

You have to either lower your calorie consumption or up your activity use by 3500 calories for the week to lose a pound a week.

So .. you can drop your calorie consumption by 500 calories per day and lose 1 pound per week.

Or you can up your activity level and burn an extra 500 calories per day and lose 1 pound per week.

Or ..... you can do a combination of the two... which is what I'm trying to do. I figure at 1600 calories per day, I'm lowering my calorie consumption by about 500 calories per day. Plus the extra exercise.. over and above my treadmill walking at the gym.... Hopefully, that will allow me to lose 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per week. We shall see.

Anyway... my point is.. you can't change the math.

That's why I question any claim that you can lose 10 lbs in a week.... the math doesn't support it !!!

okay... stepping off my soapbox....:p

I agree with you Susan, I know better. This will just help me to start eating better. :)

Progress, not perfection, my friend. We'll get there..... it may come slowly, but we will get there.

I had really let my eating habits get bad over the last few years. I'm trying to eat only healthy foods every day, but it's difficult. It's a journey. The longer we work at it, the better we'll get at it and the more it will become a new habit. But it takes time.

That's why I didn't beat myself up over eating all those chocolate cupcakes last week. It was a stupid thing to do and I felt like cr*p afterwards... lol.... serves me right... but that is the one day in the past two weeks that I did that... sooooo.... all in all... moving in the right direction.

Good morning ladies !!!

I'm off to the gym to do some gentle treadmill and burn off some extra calories..

more later.....

Happy Saturday :)

Gooooooooooooood Morning Buddies :)

I am feeling refreshed this morning, after Cathe beat me up yesterday. I have been up since 3am, washed my hair, cleaned the charcoil grill and took the trash out. I have not started my workout as of yet, maybe later on today.

I wanted to pop in and invite you guys over for lunch. :)
I cut up and marinated 2 whole chickens yesterday with: Onions, Garlic, Bell Peppers, Orange/Pineapple/Lime and Lemon juice, fresh ginger, soy sauce, EVOO, onion & Garlic Powder, black pepper and some italian seasoning (no salt), fresh cilantro & fresh rosemary. I probably put some more ingridents in the pot as well, can't remember. Chicken has been marinating since yesterday in the bottom of the fridge. I hope it is good, trying to make Citrus Grilled Chicken. I will take it to work for lunch and have some for dinner, I just need to make a side dish. Again, I am putting forth an effort to eat better.

Susan, I hope you have a great workout at the GYM.

WATER, WATER, WATER, WATER Ladies :)

oooooooooooooooooo.... that sounds yummy Deanna !!!! And very very healthy !!!
Thank you for sharing !!!!

I know you are enjoying not having to do workouts first thing on Saturdays and Sundays. I remember having to do my workouts before work ... it ain't easy... but you are doing great and being very dedicated.

I did 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I think I'll do treadmill on the days that we don't do cardio in our Cathe program. My treadmill walks are not really cardio... they are more meditation (I get in the "zone") and to burn off some extra calories. My membership is paid for so I need to use it.

I have come down with Calorie Creep Disease :( (see below)

Official Report for Friday, September 9, 2011

Goals vs Actual

Calories <1600 Actual: 1736 (I'm creeping into the 1700s... sigh)

Have a great Saturday !!!

Edited to add: I drank 20 oz of water while on the treadmill !!!!

Good morning !!! Hope everyone had a great Saturday.

well... I didn't do so well yesterday :(

I did do my 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym. Then it was downhill from there. I never did the upper and lower body workout..... so I'll have to do that today along with our assigned stretching routine....

I knew that I should have done the upper and lower body workout as soon as I walked in the door from the gym. If I don't do the workout in the morning, I don't do it. I keep procrastinating and saying to myself, "I'll do the workout right after I do XYZ." And then it never happens.

I also fudged (not literally) a bit on my eating yesterday. My list is in the kitchen, but it came in at 1900 + (but under 2000). I'll post the exact numbers later.

As for today, I know I'm in trouble already. I'm going to a friend's house for brunch. She's a terrific cook, but everything she cooks is high calorie. There will be several people there and I know she will have gone all out on the food.... I shall try to be as good as possible and make the healthiest choices possible from what is available.

Deanna - how did the chicken turn out???????

I'll check back later this afternoon.... I'll be gone most of the day.

We CAN do this.... We ARE doing this...

setbacks will happen.... we just keep moving onward and upward.

ohhhhh... almost forgot..... Deanna - I did drink my 50 oz of water
yesterday !!!!!!

Good Sunday Morning Workout Buddies :)

Well yesterday was a nice relaxing day for me. It was overcast in Las Vegas, and I enjoyed every minute of the sun NOT shinning. As I stated previously, I opened all the windows in the house, I also grilled Citurs Marinated Chicken outside. I then placed the chicken in individual storage bags for lunch next week.

I did not do one exercise...lol....Saturdays are difficult for me since it is my 1st day off work. I have been up early this morning as well, styling my hair and spot cleaning the carpet from where the dog may have had an accident. :( My intention is to do Body Fushion today, but not sure if that is going to happen....lol Going to do House Cleaning Max, to get ready for work next week and Body Fushion in the AM.

Going to fix a healthy breakfast and start on my water. I will check back in later to post my progress.

Deanna

PS: The Chicken turned out pretty good with all the herbs, especially the Rosemary. Next time I am just going to use Onions, Garlic, Ginger, Rosemary, Salt & Pepper and Orange Juice. :)

Hope everyone have a great Sunday

Hi everyone,

It has been a busy weekend for me but I keep popping in to check on posts.

I had similar social eating issues over the weekend- high fat dips and chips Fri eve and dinner out w/ friends last night. I like Deanna's plan and prep for the week choices for today.

I've done SH biceps (should have been completed yest) and a premix of intensity (with mods for my wonky knee)

I'm 5'4". My total weight loss ideal is to lose 20 pds but the first goal is to lose 10 which would come off naturally and pretty easily if ate an ideal diet. The next 5 - 10 would be a result of clean diet and commitment to fitness. Losing the first 10 would put me at 125. I was a lean 115 at the peak of my Cathe inspired fitness a few years ago, so it is do able. And boy do I feel better in my skin at 120ish than 140ish.

Susan, good luck on your afternoon w/ friends. Enjoy yourself. We don't have to wait all the way til tomorrow to start off again doing the right thing.

Here's a thought, too. Maybe a "great" cook is someone who can prepare delicious food with whole grains, low fat and veggies. Part of the downfall comes from putting the chef and their food on a pedestal! One of my BF's is the best hostesses in the world, seriously! But, dang it, she adds half and half to dips or soups to make them creamier, extra cheese on whatever...you get the idea.

Good afternoon !!!

Well... I'm stuffed, but it was a fun time.

FnV - absolutely... a great cook can cook with whole grains, veggies and other healthy foods. Unfortunately, the hostess for this brunch is not one of those  In fact, she sounds just like your friend !!!

Every single item was high calories/high fat. There wasn't a single low cal/low fat item in sight.... I ate some of the scrambled eggs with cheese mixed in (the lowest calorie item), one slice of bacon (I love bacon and there was a whole platter of it staring me in the face... sigh), one corn muffin instead of the blueberry muffins and some coffee. I stayed away from everything else.... potato casserole with some kind of cream sauce, dips, and an array of sinful desserts to top it all off... Yikes !!!!

Deanna - I'm so glad the chicken turned out to be delicious !!!!

We all seem to have had a so-so weekend as far as staying on track. But that's okay.

You know my mantra :D

Progress, not perfection !!!!!!!!!!!!

Go team !!!!

We CAN do this..... We ARE doing this....

I'm pondering spending money... lol... money that I shouldn't be spending considering all the equipment and DVDs I've already bought.

It's all in the Video and DVD Questions and Comments forum if you want to see what I've been asking and pondering about ;)

I need to put some comfy clothes on and ponder my exercise and eating options for the rest of the day.... lol
I know I have plain non-fat Greek yogurt topped with fresh strawberries on my agenda.......

Have a great afternoon !!!!

lol...... Hi FnV :D

well.... kinda... sorta...

I did the Upper Body add-on from yesterday's assignment.
(I really like doing upper body workouts.. and cardio .. and stretching. Lower body? not so much)

I did the first segment of Stretch Max for today's assignment.

I just could not bring myself to do those dang squats and lunges with all that brunch food in me :p

Tomorrow is Body Fusion for the very first time. Deanna has a head start on me on that one cause she tried it last week. This will be my first attempt and I'm nervous !!!! eeeeeeeek.....

See y'all in the morning......

Someone please hit me over the head in the morning and make me do Body Fusion first thing please !!!

Onward and upward we go. My head is spinning from watching Cathe DVD video clips and pondering the options. Too many choices... egad. As you said FnV......they ALL look good :p

And I have to keep reminding myself that I have the whole Low Impact Series arriving at some point in the near future. Except I don't think I'll be ready for a lot of those for several months.... but we'll see. There may be some that I can at least do part of now....

So its all that lower body in body fusion that is keeping you from jumping in?
What do you have to do to make it work for you? I'm only pushing b/c lower body w/o is integral to fitness and Cathe so you will have to grab it and growl eventually! Or find some other fitness philosophy that lets you skip the squats and lunges. (and let me know cuz I hates lunges)

OK, no pressure, but I am gonna do body fusion in the morning before work and will be looking to see how you worked it in for yourself when I get home..... :::devilish grin::: Do it, even if its half assed (literally!) A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...squat...lunge....

Okay Ladies, just finished Body Fusion. I hope everyone completes the workout. I pray that I am not tired like I was on Friday after completing Body Fushion.

Had small breakfast after workout this morning which consisted of one piece of toast, 2 eggs scrambled with mushrooms, spinach and onions, sliced tomato, 2 pieces of turkey bacon and a cup of coffee......IT WAS GOOD. I said previously that my appetite has increased since workingout. I am taking my lunch to work as well, chicken breast, a big salad, apple and plenty of water.

I will check in while at work and post progress.

Deanna

DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER LADIES :)
