Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Midday report :D

I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow... getting old/being old is awful !!

I found that Low Impact Step/Total Body Sculpting has a 79 minute premix that is the whole DVD but in a circuit style. Warm up, step, cardio intensity blast, lower body, step, cardio intensity blast, upper body, step cardio intensity blast, abs, stretch.

I think that was it... my order may be off a little, but you get the gist.

Well.....

It was more than I had bargained for. BUT.... I did it !!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo proud of myself.

However..... it took me over 2 hours to do the 79 minute program... lol

I had to stop the DVD every 10 minutes to take a 7 - 8 minute breather. Man... I am soooo out of shape.

I did everything except the #2 and #3 cardio intensity blasts... I did a little of them but no way I could do it all.

For squats and lunges, I played it thru that section and counted how many squats and how many lunges they did, then paused the DVD.

I am a stickler for form and I can't do the squats and lunges as fast as they do them and still keep my form correct.

So once I knew how many they did, I just paused and did them all, but at my speed... a.k.a. tortoise speed

I also had to pause for equipment changes... I just can't switch from dumbbells to stability ball to step to mat as fast as they do.

Anyway... I wanted to share with my workout buddies what I did and that I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. Good thing it's just stretching .... lol

and Deanna - I drank 40 oz of water during my workout !!!!!!

GO SUSAN, GO SUSAN, GO SUSAN........YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Susan, I am not laughing at you but with you. When I read "I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow... getting old/being old is awful !! and ... it took me over 2 hours to do the 79 minute program..." I laughed out loud, one of my coworkers asked if I was okay..........LOL......... I love your since of humor and dedication.....And the water consumpution (40oz during the workout), I almost fell out my office chair. What has gotten into you today? YOU HAVE GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE ROTATION! You may not be able to move tomorrow (lol) and if not you earned that extra day of rest.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MY FRIEND. :)

Thanks Deanna !!! I hope you did get a good laugh... I meant you to :p

It IS funny.... This 66-year-old jumping around the living room like a damned teenager-wanna-be .... lol I could have done this easily 30 or 40 years ago! Even 20 years ago. But seriously... I don't feel old. It surprises me when I remember that I'm 66. I feel about 50. Not bad....

Deanna - you are the best cheerleader. Thank you for your continued support.

Off to find something low cal to eat..... AND drink some more water.... lol

Edited to add: I watched the first half of Body Fusion while I was recuperating. That looks really good. Can't wait to try it next week. I'm glad you like it !! Onward and upward we go.

We CAN do this !!!!! We ARE doing it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there are any beginners out there reading these posts, you are welcome to join in !!! We're a friendly bunch :D

You don't have to be on the same week that we are.... if you are in Week 10 or just thinking about maybe perhaps starting Week 1 next week.... this is the place to be...

It's fun once you get going :p

Good night all... I can't wait to see how well I move (or don't) in the morning... lol

Wow, Awesome Job Susan! What an inspiration!

I'm really tired, so I apologize in advance for short staccato replies, but I hope you can sense my enthusiasm and support, I've popped in a few times to read the threads today~

I wanted to agree w/ water being helpful, I am increasing my intake, now, too.

Hope that you also experience that after a big work out or intensity intervals, I notice that next time i tackle a workout it is usually easier.

I'm happy for everyone's workout enthusiasm and modification ability.

Agree Dr Mirkin diet sounds pretty darn healthy.

Want to say hi and congrats to Cyndi

My neg for the day was finishing out day at Wendy's/eating dinner at 9 pm.

My pos for the day (to end on good note) was otherwise a really clean and healthy veggie laden diet plus got my workout in before work this morn.

Have a good one, y'all~ FnV

Good morning all !!!!

FnV - It sounds like you had a great day. You got your workout done before work !!! You ate healthy foods most of the day !!! You are upping your water consumption !! (You KNOW that will make Deanna happy). Progress, not perfection. You did great !!!

I'm not as sore this morning as I thought I would be :D I'm sore... all over.. but a good sore from knowing that I worked out hard yesterday. But I sure am glad that today is only stretching... lol. Not sure what I'll do for a warmup before the stretching... I might do Basic Step with no step just to get me moving. I don't ever stretch without a warmup...

Official Report for yesterday, Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Goals vs Actuals

Calories: < 1600 Actual: 1550
Total fat < 48 grams Actual: 47.0
Saturated fat < 12.5 Actual: 13.3

Water consumption: goal: 50 oz Actual: 55 oz

Workout: Cardio & Weights premix of Low Impact Step/Total Body Sculpting

All in all..... a great day on the program !!! Yes !!! I'm psyched......

Thank you to Deanna, Cyndi and FaithnVeggies for cheering me on and keeping me inspired and motivated.

We CAN do this !! We ARE doing this..
Go team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful day.... I'm off to do laundry and general straightening up of the house before stretching...

I'll check in later this afternoon.........

one more thing.....

FnV - as I said, I don't follow the Dr. Mirkin program exactly, but I do use it as my "guideline."

As I said before, I do put ground beef (a little bit) in some casseroles and I do eat eggs (he doesn't allow any meat or eggs or cheese - unless its no fat cheese and I don't think there is such a thing) and I do .. once in a while... have some low fat cheese.

But his plan of 5 veggies, 5 fruits, whole grains, seafood, nuts/seeds, etc. gives me something to aim for...... as always, progress... not perfection :)

off to do housework.... then stretch.....

Moring Workout Buddies :)

I am off to a slow start this morning. Today is stretch only and I told myself I would do it after work today. I thought about it, kicked my feet up and out of the bed and did Beginning Yoga (Solar 25 min). I did not do my Yoga after work last night and I tossed and turned all night.

Okay, time to get ready for work and start drinking my water.

I will check in while at work.

I hope you ladies have a good stretch workout today and don't forget your water.

Deanna

Deanna - Fantastic job on deciding to get up and go do your stretch before work !!!! Way to go !!!

It is soooooo easy to put off the stretching when that's all that we have on the program. It seems like a "rest" day, but stretching is so important.

Since you are having trouble sleeping lately, doing yoga before bed sounds like a great idea ........

still puttering around the house and yard... that will be my warmup before stretching... lol

Have a great day :D

Hey workout buddies, I just got my copy of Turbo Fire :)

I am soooooooo excited, can't wait to try it out. I have been viewing the dvd's, the Instructor Chaleen moves pretty fast. However, she has someone doing low impact but that person is moving fast as well.....lol.... I will be doing it at my speed not their speed....lol

Hope all is having a great day :)

Deanna

Hello Ladies,

Sounds like everyone is doing great on our w/o.

Deanna TURBO FIRE. Oh my you are doing great!!!!!!:D:D

I have to hurry and type this out b/c my connection is bad today. None yesterday. I am sick of this service. oh well.

I am glad today is stretch day. Did bs and ub 9/7.

Have a great evening everyone.

Cyndi, what is going on with your internet connection?

Still drinking my water..............Susan, Fnv and Cyndi how are you ladies doing with your water today?

Deanna

Hi everyone !!

Cyndi - We're happy to see you whenever your Internet connection lets you. That would drive me crazy...... It sounds like you are doing great with your workouts. Keep up the good work !!!

Deanna - WOW !! I had no idea what Turbo Fire was so I had to go to YouTube and find out :D Yikes... looks energetic to say the least.... I hope you enjoy it.

I'm struggling today. I've been tired all day... dragging around... just wanting to sleep... lol. I did take a short nap this afternoon, but that didn't really help. And I'm being bad about what I'm eating..... not totally bad... just not doing great. And... I'm not drinking as much water as I usually do.

I don't really think it's because I exercised so much (for me) yesterday, it's more like I feel like I'm coming down with a bad cold and I'm just dragging...

Tomorrow's a new day !!!! Hopefully, I'll be back to my usual self...

Deanna - are you going to try Turbo Fire tonight? on our semi-rest day? Or wait until tomorrow and do part of it instead of step???

I can't wait to hear the story.... you go girl !!! :D

Good evening Ladies :)

I am struggling with my water today, I did well with my diet but the water is difficult to get down. I may finish the 100oz before bed, which means I will be up all night going to the bathroom. :(

Turbo Fire, what can I say? It looks fun and energetic, not sure when I will try it maybe on the weekend just incase I need to rest afterwards.....lol

Just got home from work, and put 2 turkey sausage in the oven with onions and bell peppers. I have noticed that my appetite has increase since workingout, I am always hungry.

Going to do Lunar Yoga before bed tonight, so that I can sleep as well as I did Tuesday night.

Will check back in later tonight or in the AM after completing Cardio and Abs, which is what is on the Rotation Calendar.

Deanna

Good morning ladies !!!

Deanna - I love turkey sausage with onions and peppers !!! Yummy. Particularly the Italian style turkey sausages......

I hope your yoga allowed you to sleep well last night !!

It's 6:50 a.m. and I'm off to the gym to jump start my day. I'm going to do a couple of moderately paced walking miles on the treadmill, then come home and do Basic Step and Abs from today's program !!!

A new day.... I lapsed a bit yesterday, not toooooo toooo bad. Onward and upward we go. Progress, not perfection !!!

Morning Ladies :)

Just finished Total Body Fusion (50min), and Stabilty Ball Ads (10min). That darn Cathe got me with those uneven lunges (I DO NOT LIKE THEM).

My dinner was pretty good lastnight and this morning I put that same mixture in a skillet and added a 2 eggs. Yummmmm. I have also started on my water.

Okay, time for work........TGIF :) :) :)

Have a wonder day and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES :)

DEANNA

Deanna, I hate lunges, too. I am giving myself permission to work up in wt and really focus on form and completing each rep. Cathe recently posted an article about the value of doing exercises you hate. Now, can I come over for breakie? yum.

Susan, do you think you would have not strayed if you had drunk? drank? consumed! all of you water? It sounded like healthy choices and shaking up the calorie count consumption is good anyway. Hey, it isn't like you had a date w/ Little Debbie, right? (that was me last night, oops)

good luck w/ connection, lovetocamp. I also lovetocamp, btw. : )

back later...FnV

I'm back from the gym... did my 3 miles.... now a small cup of coffee as a reward.... then do some cardio (which is yet to be determined) and abs.

Deanna - Great job on this morning's workout. It sounds like you really like Body Fusion...well.... except for the uneven lunges.

I don't mind lunges... don't love 'em, but don't hate 'em.
The ones I intensely dislike are squats.....:p

FnV - I read Cathe's article about doing the exercises we hate !! So true.. those are usually the ones we need the most.

I do think I would have done better with my food if I had drunk/drank/consumed my usual water. It keeps me from mindlessly snacking, which has always been a big problem for me. I have always eaten healthy food, except when I have episodes like the unfortunate box of chocolate cupcakes from last week.

Yesterday was just a down - dragging around kind of day. Wasn't motivated to do much of anything.....

But today I'm back on track...

How's your recuperation coming along?

Deanna - I think we'll all come over to your house for breakfast. Sounds delicious !!!!!!!!

later....

Ladies, Cathe beat me up this morning. All I can say is get ready for Body Fushion next week, it is intense!!!!!! Monday 9.12.11 will be our one month mark of workingout. :) It's like starting your 2rd trimester of pregnancy...lol Body Fushion is 50 min in length, something we will need to get use to. With Basic Step we were use to 30 min of Cardio and it is not intense like Body Fusion. Starting week 4, Body Fushion is only schedule twice per week (see week 4, 5 and 6 listed below), thank goodness. And if you notice there are NO REST DAYS. :( The next 3 weeks are going to be tuff.

WEEK 4, 5, and 6

Mon: Body Fusion

Tues: Lower Body add on with hand weight from Basic Step DVD

Wed: Body Fusion

Thurs: The abdominal add on from the Basic Step DVD plus One segment from total Body stretching

Fri: Brisk walk outside for 40 minutes and a segment from Total Body Stretching

Sat: Upper and Lower body add on with tubing plus abdominal segment from Basic Step DVD (they are all on the DVD)

Sun: A segment from Total Body Stretching DVD

AGAIN, I HOPE EVERYONE HAVE A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED DAY........AND LETS NOT FORGET TO DRINK OUR WATER.

Deanna

Yikes... no day off??? not fair :p
But Sundays will be semi-rest days with just stretching on the program.

I am a little scared of Body Fusion.... we are heading up to the next level !!

We CAN do it !!! We ARE doing it !!!

I finished my workout. I decided to do exactly what Cathe had in the schedule, so I did Basic Step and the Abs add-on. It was fun. I did Basic Step all the way through with no rest break for the very first time. I know.... I'm way behind you guys.... lol

Deanna - I've had 40 oz of my 50 oz quota of water so far today. :)

20 oz while at the gym doing treadmill and 20 oz while doing Basic Step and Abs. ohhhhhh... I also did my old tried and true 20 minute stretch routine that I've done for decades. I always feel like I need to stretch after a workout.

So far so good on the food.

I'll check in later...

Happy TGIF :D

Edited to add: Tomorrow is upper and lower body... hmmmmm...... I'm debating what to do.

There is a really good Upper Body Chapter (not a premix, but a separate chapter) in the Body Max 2 DVD. They use a stability ball and 2 pairs of dumbbells. It's about 20-25 minutes plus a few minutes of abs and stretch at the end. I may do that for Upper Body and do the Lower Body add-on that's on the schedule.

In the Upper Body Chapter of Body Max 2, Cathe and crew use 5 lb and 15 lb dumbbells. I've decided to use about 1/3 of what they use at this point in my journey. So I'll try it with 3 lb and 5 lb dumbbells......

I'd just like to give it a go.... I'll only do what I can do... if that means only 6 or 8 reps of each exercise, that's fine.
