40's August how I love thee

Good Morning,

I clamped my jaw shut all night and irritated my tooth and whole right side of my mouth woke up with a sore mouth and a headache, I am headed to the dentist today so they can start the crown process and I will she what she suggest to help. I am going to see GS today he started walking so I am excited to see it and I want to go for a walk either with DD or just in the park not feeling up for anything else today.

Lisa-I have always wanted a dog like that but in Kansas the poor things are just to hot they are perfect for Colorado.

Hi everyone

We're back! Got back on Sat morning after flying back from SF via Toronto. Been doing loads of washing! Was up at 3am this morning for about an hour and a half. Thanks jetlag!!
Did my first workout today for three weeks (altho we did a lot of walking in Yosemite and round SF). Did a Kimberly Spreen old KB workout. It was hard! I'm blaming the jetlag ...
We had a great time. SF was a great way to finish. Really great place. And we had some of the best weather (and in Yosemite which was lovely and hot!!).
Still feeling a bit spaced. Back at my desk and working though finding it hard to keep awake!

Will catch up with you all during the week.

Good morning! Welcome back Ronne! So glad you had so much fun! I'm sure that jet lag will take a bit to abate, that is a big time difference to adjust to. Lisa, congrats! He is adorable! You are going to be a busy momma! Roxie, hope the dentist fixes you up quickly. Enjoy GS. Jody, sounds like a perfect weekend. Does school start soon? My kids go back on Wednesday, they are not excited! Murphy, did you go away? Weekend was so nice! Lovely weather, DH and DS did awesome. Have to put everything back together and get ready for school. I'm going to go do a STS w/o, I forget which number, chest, shoulders and tris. Hope everyone has a good day, Mary

Mary you've passed me! good job. I have classes on Thurs. I hope I can get my engines started again. Lisa, enjoy the new puppy. Roxie, more hugs, sounds like you can use em. Ejoy the gs, too! Ronne welcome back - I look forward to hearing about the highlights of trip. You'll be back in the groove soon. Murphy, share about the rejects if you have time. I did first 6 cycles of Imax 3, 25 min jog and back from sts 15.
This TED talk helps explain why me having too many workout choices isn't actually a good thing for me. I think I was happier with 10 dvds, albeit most were Cathe so all my options were superb. Barry Schwartz: The paradox of choice | Video on TED.com I love TED talks.

Hi all

Jody - I didn't look at the talk but choice can be overwhelming. It's like the supermarket, sometimes I just want them to sell one kind of a product rather than 27! Can't believe you're back studying again soon!
Having been to so many different places it felt a bit like we've had 7 different holidays. One of the things I really liked was driving through the non-touristy bits. I felt like we were seeing a bit of the 'real' America. Miles of agricultural land with hardly any houses, then smallish towns which you realise are huge metropolises for the people living around them.
When we arrived at our friends' house in LA, we hadn't brought them anything because we hadn't managed to find a shop. At that stage, we'd been in the centre of San Diego and then Disney and driving on freeways and we hadn't seen anywhere just to get a bottle of wine or something.

Mary - did you have a family weekend away? When do you go back to work?

Did Xtrain Bis and Tris. I didn't have to drop down the weights at all which was reassuring. Managed to sleep through last night as well so I think we're finally back to normal. Just a couple more batches of washing to do. And I've got a mountain of ironing! Summer clothes need more ironing than winter ones. (Or maybe I just don't wash winter ones very much!!)

Good Morning,

I have lost the desire to workout right now I just want to sit and do nothing. The dentist couldn't crown my tooth yet its still not healed so I have to wait a couple of weeks. GS gave me alot of hugs and kisses which was awesome and he still has a long way to go before he is running but its cute to watch him try to walk. If I do anything today it will be a walk.

Ronne-I never iron its against my religion lol! I live in one of those small towns about 500 people here.

Jody-thanks for the hugs.

Hello! Today did CF, was hard! Ronne, sounds like an amazing experience! I would love to have the time and money to be able to explore all over the world! I go back to work in 2 weeks, counting down! The kids are now counting the hours! Jody, sometimes I have too many choices, then I regret and think I should have picked the other one, make myself crazy! Do you have to go to school this thursday??? Roxie, sometimes we just have to make ourselves move and then we feel better. How's your mouth? Lisa, how is the new addition? You and the President! Is he/she keeping you running? Today will be the pool. I'm sad the kids are going back, we have been enjoying ourselves. I am looking forward to the quiet tho! Hope everyone has a good day, Mary

Not a lot of time thought you all would be interested in my Dr appt Sorry no personals.

Just keeping you all informed of my progress. *Had my 3 mth checkup with neurosurgeon yesterday. *I'm right where I should be in my recovery (off of narcotics-ie. percocet, still needing muscle relaxers, ie. Valium). *Bone is growing in the cages between each of the 3 vertebras. *They keep checking this at intervals until full fusion (can be 2 yrs). *Glad to see I'm making progress in physical therapy. *

I'm still having a couple of problems. *My lower back is KILLING ME unless I stretch it really good (like for 30 min) every day, even when doing nothing. *They weren't surprised. *The whole spine has been altered in how my muscles is being used. *Changing the neck and how the body was accommodating the condition changes all the other spine dynamics. *sigh. So in addition to 6 more weeks of physical therapy for the neck, now adding in lumbar (lower back) physical therapy. *My home exercise program just keeps growing.

The other problem I'm having a more major (in my view) issue with is it seems the more I talk, the more my throat hurts, but in a weird way, drinking, cough drops, nothing helps but for me to quit talking for a while. *They hadn't heard of that issue before (ok, ok, I talk a lot sometimes I guess), but they think vocal cords are fine, maybe just all those muscles are still traumatized from all the handling of moving them aside during surgery. *If still a problem at my 6 mth checkup then they will see where to go from there. *I really think my body is just healing and I'm overusing that area. *One reason being, I talked a LOT this past week (my birthday, my new puppy, etc), at physical therapy my jaw is tighter and the muscles running down from your front of ear in your neck down, are sorer(open your jaw, you'll be amazed at the neck muscles involved!). *Seems it all goes together for me. *I know I know I need to just shut up my mouth. *This is not good for a woman! *lol

And the last pesky problem, my left trap is still sore, spasms. *They are prescribing me a compounded cream that has some muscle relaxants, and other stuff in it to rub in that area. *AH, why didn't I get this *cream when I had bad sore muscles/spasms everywhere? *Probably would have taken a bath in it. *I've have a plethora of creams for muscles soreness (tiger balm, Cindy's horse liniment, Sombra (pepper cream) from Physical therapy), I sure hope this compounded one does the trick! *Heck it has drugs in it, it has to be good! *

I'd love to come in sometime and show you all my scar, I'm so proud of it for some reason (I really earned it). * Still leery of driving too far and I really need head support throughout the day. *Not to mention I still have to wear this suicide bomber device (bone stimulator) 4 hrs a day, they would never allow me in the building afraid I was there to blow it up. *OK, OK, yea, see I talk too much. *

So continuing only working 4 hrs a day, looks like indefinitely at this point.

Mary-because my tooth is still irritated and has some infection left they wouldn't do anything for at least another two weeks.

Lisa, thanks for the update, your therapy is every bit intensive as previous workouts, it takes more commitment, etc. Roxie walks are good for the soul and the body, huh? Ronne, I'm with Roxie, I don't iron but I can see how it would be a lot to catch up with after your trip. Mary, I'm enjoying time w/ my dtr, we've been playing tennis and she is keeping me company. The other dtr less tolerant of company- she is more typical teen drama emotional roller coaster prickly pear. Hi Murph. I did Bi from sts and 30 min step portion of Intensity. DD had wisdom teeth out times 4 impacted teeth at 9 am today and still bleeding. I'm keeping an eye on her.

Hi Ladies

Jody - hope DD is OK. It's horrible having teeth out. I do like spending time with DD in the holidays. It's like you get your child back for a while. Being away from school does them a lot of good, I think.

Lisa - hang in there, you're doing well and making good progress.

Mary - you inspired me. I did a CF premix, the one without the tabatas but with the core. Even though, it's difficult sometimes keeping DD busy I do like the summer holidays.

Roxie - hope your tooth isn't bothering you too much.

CF was challenging. I dropped one set of the crab sit-ups because my triceps were burning from yesterday. I don't mind ironing actually. I'd much rather do that than wash up!

Good morning! Today did disc 17. Ronne, I should have left out the tabatas too! I have to confess, I don't really buy anything that needs to be ironed. I use to watch my mom iron and starch my Dad's shirts for the work week, looked like a tedious task! When does your DD go back to school? Mine were off and running this morning! I'm loving the quiet! Jody, isn't it funny how different kids are, tho they were raised the same? They all crack me up! Hope the one feels better, does she look like a chipmunk? Lisa, sounds like you are moving right along. I suppose everything has to re adjust itself back to a new normal. Roxie, how are you feeling? Better, I hope. Have to get the dog to the groomer! Her spa day! Have a good one! Mary

Hi ladies, computer post so hopefully you will know I'm not ignoring you by no personals :)

Roxie, that sounds just miserable. I really hope you find relief soon.

Mary, I'm sure the dog doesn't think of it like a spa day :) Any new news on your hip?

Murphy, I kmow you are out there, so hello, how's it feeling to be IN your mid 40's? Catches up to you doesn't it?

Ronne,I'm like Mary, don't buy anything that needs ironed, and if it does need ironed (like slight wrinkles), it gets worn that way. Lazy american :) Glad you had a nice trip to the states, you investigated CA more than any of us! I used to have to fly to Sacramento on business, would fly into SF, so I do know that area and visited the Napa valley when driving from SF to Sacramento. I really want to get to Yosemite someday, it's just not in a convenient proximity to anything I haven't seen so makes it hard to justify the trip (we hate driving trips).

Jody, poor DD with 4 teeth out! I hope she is one that bounces back, especially since she is young. I want my 20 yr old body back, can I have it? Kids turn out so differently, my first was a PAIN as a baby, cried at the slightest thing (like a lawnmower starting up 2 houses down), I couldn't have gone thru that with another and thankfully second was totally different.

So, DS dog hurt her paw somehow ( I think from pulling so hard on leash when we had her trying to show our dog (suki) how to walk on a leash. So think she scraped her poor paw up (her paws are so soft since all she does is sleep all day unless I take her for a walk). DS was a bit upset with me, thank goodness DIL is more level headed. That dog was such a diva over something none of us could see, and then of course she doesn't limp when playing running around with suki. So, for my w/o, I did, wait for it, KPC! I planned to skip the high intensity drills but didn't realize that's what they were until I was mostly done. Modifications worked well for me (no jumping, not even lift up on toe, light punches), at one point where you kick to side drop down kick to side again, I went at 1/2 Cathe pace, then when same thing was in a combo I just did a step to side instead of drop to side. I still sweated! I only did the first ab exercise, rest was too much for my neck, so I did my PT I do on the ball (I's, Y's, T's). So I had on my workout top that has the shelf bra...didn't need much support, since no jumping, it's stretchy, well, I couldn't get it off I was so sweaty and my range of motion is not good with getting things like that off still and left shoulder didn't like the motion, had ot have DH get it off. So will have to adjust my attire next time else I would have been stuck in it :) Afterwards, went to feed the dogs , then foam roll and do some leg stretches, dogs played all around me while doing this, if you know how dogs play, it is not a relaxing thing (at least they didn't rumble over my head!). Then got done and went outside for a bit, and there they ran all around again. They are pooped out now too.

So, PT will be adding in lumbar exercises, the first they gave me for tight hamstrings is, lay on back, one leg flat on floor, using strap to lift other leg, the difference is, pump your toe up and down and it makes it a nerve glide for the sciatic nerve. Then after doing that a bit, move foot in air in over and across the leg on ground (foot is still in air) and move foot in strap side to side. See if that makes sense and try it, thought it may help some of you less than limber ones (not looking at Ronne here).

Planning to go see The Heat with my Bff, DH trip got canceled so now I'm not tied down to puppy. Puppy is fun, love her, but they are limiting at times :) Are any of you surprised I got one?

Good Evening,

TOM again and anothe migraine so I decided to do Turbo Jam 20 Minute Cardio Party and Ab Jam Standing Abs and then we went to the lake.

Mary and Everyone my tooth wasn't as painful today just now starting to hurt.

Jody-hope DD heals without dry socket that is the worse.

Lisa-hang in there some day you will be normal again look at Peyton Manning.

Lisa, wow, congrats on the workout, I hope you didn't over do it but sounds like you took care, so wtg but don't be a hero. I didn't think you were planning on a dog and you did say never again, but clearly you enjoy having one so I wasn't surprised.

Roxie, ick to migraine and TOM but glad tooth better at least. I hope dd doesn't get dry socket, too. She had reaction to pain med and was sick all yesterday aft and eve but better today, just taking advil now.

Mary, I didn't get to all my cleaning and organizing this summer but I did clean house most of today which was helpful for hitting the ground running tomorrow.

Ronne, you are doing a great job jumping back in to things, always an inspiration!

I did AT and core 2 - behind on sts but legs are due tomorrow.

Hi everyone

Jody - tough workout. Well done!

Roxie - hope you enjoyed the lake. Are you using that mirror thing now?

Lisa - Can't say I'm surprised at the dog. You love dogs so much, you wouldn't be able to hold out forever! Congrats on the workout. Big surprise. Hope you get no nasty after effects. Don't push yourself too soon! I'm attaching a couple of Yosemite photos to tempt you! Aren't you the nearest (relatively speaking!) out of everyone on here?

Mary - DD goes back in two weeks. She's doing a tennis camp all week this week and then going to stay with her older sister for a couple of days at the beginning of next week. So I'll only have a week or so to entertain her.

Did Xtrain CBS. It was hard. Had to drop down in weights and couldn't do all the push-ups. Back on the gymnastic run tonight. Oh well.

Good morning! Today did imax2, not the brightest choice after legs yesterday! Lisa, I'm not surprised! I was more surprised that you held out this long! How are you feeling today? Enjoy the Heat! Ronne, how beautiful! You and DH will get some alone time!! Did DD like Disney? I have never been to that one. Jody, hope school treats you will today. I am cleaning today, interval cleaning! I do a little, take a rest, then do some more. Roxie, how are you feeling? When will they do the crown? How's your head? Not much today, just enjoying the silence! Hope everyone has a good day, Mary
