I didn't have time to post yesterday. We have had a steady stream of visitors since Sept. and now the girls god-father is in town for a week. Busy, busy. Yesterday I took a long hike in boulder, 2:30 hours with Maggie. I don't know if you remember but it is the same hike I was doing often last spring and yesterday it really kicked my butt! It starts with a very aggressive climb, it is so steep that they had to build in 'stairs' to keep the erosion from getting out of control and my heart rate went through the roof in the first 5 minutes. After about a half mile straight climb up it levels off with more gradual climbs. Both Maggie and I were really feeling it....
I then taught my Pilates class that evening and I am still feeling pretty droppy.

Once again not sick, but like I am getting sick. I think I am doing ok though, just a slight cold, runny nose, and mild sore throat from the post nasal drip...will see how I do today, I keep pumping myself up with vitamins and nothing seems to get full blown. Considering the amount of crud going around here it is a miracle I haven't caught anything!
Janey: nice necklaces! Good work. Where do you buy the pearls? I bet you are happy to have Joey home again. I can't believe you lift 40lbs on the plie squats, you must have a very strong back. I would worry about straining a groin muscle for myself! I know the legs can take a lot but I baby myself on those more vulnerable positions that can target the groin/low back more intensely. You must be ripped! Do you go slower than Cathe or the same speed?
That is amazing!
Shoegal: yea I don't have anything heavier than 20lbs either, not yet anyway, I think for STS I will at least have to go up to 40 if not 50. I love the kickboxing! And 4DS kB is my favorite I always wish it was twice as long though, I feel like I am just getting into it and it ends! Yes I could see the boredom factor in P90X if you kept doing it. I was really ready for a change after that first month and am excited for the new round of DVDs this month, they provide enough of a challenge to keep me engaged now for awhile. However the Cardio DVD's are the same, and I am tempted to substitute a Cathe one instead, but I want to try the rotation as true to form at least once. I did substitute the cardio yesterday with a hike instead of the Plyo that I was supposed to do, but I know the hike burned way more calories just because of how long it was...I was planning on doing the DVD as well, but forgot to bring my computer to the gym to play the DVD so I couldn't which really was ok considering my so-so energy...
Michelle: Stretching does sound nice. I do a little stretching most days and pilates requires a good bit of flexibility, but i am definitely noticing that the more weight lifting I do the less flexible I get and the more I need to stretch to maintain the flexibility I have, especially in the chest and shoulders for me. I was teaching pilates the other day and I went to do a full circumlocution of the shoulders/chest sweeping the arms over the head around to the buttucks while holding a towel, which is something I never had trouble with before, and I couldn't do it! It is common that most people can't do it, at least not without throughly warming up the area first, but I never had trouble with it before! It was a humbling experience and also gave me a better understanding of what that feels like in my own body, which will help me better teach others how to work with opening up and freeing their shoulders and chest from restriction. Needless to say I have been stretching that area a lot since then. It must be from the endless pusshups in P90X
