Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Thanks, FnV.

I hate my scale. Apparently I must need more fried food and pizza. I've been eating much better and the scale is UP 1.5 lbs this morning.

Trying to stay positive, but darnit, it's really frustrating to feel like I'm never going to reach my goal weight :(

Workout complete. Did 3 miles on the treadmill walk/jog at various inclines (total time 48 min) and then did abs.

Off to another exhausting, frustrating day at work :(

Stacy - sending lots of hugs your way. I am super impressed that you were able to do your workout last night after an 11 hour work day.... Amazing !! And.. on top of that.. you got up this morning and did today's workout. Incredible !!!

Please don't worry about the scale. If you keep eating right and keep exercising, the weight will come off... even if it is more slowly than you would like.

Remember last week when my scale showed gains 2 days in a row? It was very discouraging, so you have my sympathy and empathy. But hang in there.

I haven't weighed myself yet this week, but I feel lighter. I have been good now for 3 days in a row with the food and it's getting a little easier to stick to the healthy eating plan as my body gets used to it.

I'm late this morning... must get to the gym and do my hour on the treadmill. Then home to do abs and stretching....

I'll check in later..

Make it a good day team !!! Don't let the negativity of the work place environment get you down.... We CAN do this... we ARE doing this !!!

Progress, NOT perfection.

Slow and steady wins the race... always.... and..... slow and steady is a much healthier way to lose weight... we all know that.. even if the slow pace is frustrating as hell.... :p

Morning Ladies :)

Stacy, I feel your pain and my heart goes out to you. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND DO NOT LET THEM STEAL YOUR JOY. I am at work now and today the Old Bitter Lady is suppose to be here, well she is not and no one told me that she wasn't coming in today! The work that I seperated last month for her and I to do is starting to come in. If she is not going to be able to make it in someone needs to tell me so that I can make arrangements to do her work as well as my own. This is the same lady that could not cover me on my Birthday.

Beginner Rotation has Abs and Stretching listed for Thursdays, I think I am going to try my Hip Hop Abs dvds just to jazz it up a little. I have never liked working my Abs, and by making it fun maybe it will be a little easier, it won't hurt. My son and I are going to attempt Walking/Jogging again this evening if it is not raining. Was not able to do it yesterday because the rain has been on and off since Monday night.

Ladies what about progress pic's or even profile pic's? I see I am the only one with a profile pic up.

Well let me get back to work, I will check-in this evening after my workout.

Deanna

Quick programming note...

I need to do things my way :p soooo... I'm going back to the "Susan Rotation"

Here's the revised version:

Monday - cardio of some kind (step at home, treadmill intervals, elliptical) and the Squat Challenge (I found it on the Pushup Challenge website)

Tuesday - Upper Body (including Pushup Challenge i.e. instead of Cathe's pushups, I'll do the Challenge reps) and stretch

Wednesday - Lower Body (including squat challenge), abs and stretch

Thursday - Cardio of some kind and pushup challenge

Friday - official day off

Saturday - Total Body (including pushup challenge and squat challenge), abs and stretch... whew.... that's going to be my tough day....

Sunday - cardio of some kind (there is a one hour step class at the gym, I may do that every week)

I'm going to try that rotation for the next couple of weeks.

I really really really need to make some progress because my best friend is arriving in early November to stay at my house for 2 1/2 weeks and I know I won't be exercising very much and sticking to a healthy eating plan while she is here is going to be incredibly difficult and I probably won't be posting on here very much at all because we'll be running around... so.. all in all... November is going to be a disaster .... fun... but not good for my program.

But I know that you guys will keep the home fires burning and will keep each other motivated until I get back !!!!

She arrives here on Nov 4th... so I have 4 weeks to make some serious progress !!

We CAN do it... we ARE doing it !!!!

Onward and upward we go, cause we ROCK (tm FnV)

Susan my friend I am not going to let you off that easy. I beleive our 3 month Beginner Rotation ends November 7th, so please if you can try to stick with us until then. I know your friend arrives on the 4th but you and I are in this together. Please I wanted to finish the last day of the 3 month Rotation with you, we started together we should finish together.

Thanks for the support and words of encouragement. Work today was a total, stressful and frustrating mess. I actually cried b/c I was getting so grumpy and tired and defeated. I barely ate anything all day b/c I had no time which doesnt help, and when I got home finally at 8pm (UGH), my hubby threw a frozen pizza in the oven and that was my "healthy" dinner, sigh.

And yes, Susan, that slow weight loss is a pain in the butt!!

Deanna...I hope Susan can share your last day with you (Subliminal Guilt Trip, hehe)

FnV...how are you today??

I'm working all weekend so will check in when I can. Tomorrow is a planned rest day.

not much good to report, diet so so leaning toward bad, no workout, gotta catch up on school work, class in morn from 8 to noon. No wiggle room. Kids skipped activities so I could stay on task. I can't think anymore tonight.

Hugs to all

Morning Ladies, TGIF :) I wish I could stay home today, I am soooooo tired, mentally drained. I need a vacation!

Stacy darling, my heart really goes out to you. I work in Mental Health I get along with patience soooo well, its my co-workers I have problems with. They all have college degree's and some of them TRY to make me feel inadequate since I do not have a college education, including my supervisor! She is the ring leader she TRIES to belittle me, but it does not work! It had gotten so bad one day one of my coworkers asked me to do something after the daily 10am deadline, I said NO. She through a temper trantrum by slamming my office door. I went and found her, we had words I got her supervisor involved he defused the situation. I told my supervisor I was having chest pain, I left work went to my doctor who put me on a EKG machine. He said my Blood Pressure was elevated took me off work for 1 week. I then called the Mental Health number on the back of my Insurance card, was referred to a Psychiatrist and was taken off work an additional 2 weeks. It was a well deserved break away from the madness! So, trust me when I say I understand your pain. I will continue to pray that God helps you find piece in your place of employment.

My job has not gotten back with me yet regarding my requested days off. I am just so happy that I will be off the next couple days. :)

I did not workout yesterday, I went and had cocktails after work with the ladies that have been taking me to lunch everyday this week.

Since I did not workout this morning, not sure if I will workout this eveing knowing I am going on that Walk Saturday morning.

Okay ladies, I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day. I will check in later.

Deanna

oh dear.... big hugs all around..... I wish I could wave a magic wand and make all the job related stress go away. I sympathize. I empathize. I remember it well. I just thank God that I no longer have to put up with it...

Hang in there my friends.... good days and bad days. It sounds like you are all in a bad day cycle. Hopefully, things will improve. The only words of widsom that I can give you is that only you can choose your attitude towards the negative people and situations at work. Unfortunately, you can't change the people who spread negativity, you can only choose your attitude towards them. And I know that isn't easy....

I went over on my calories yesterday.... but still.. all in all... it's been a good week with the food. Today is a scheduled rest day on the Susan Rotation...

Deanna - I shall not leave you in our final hour !!!!!!! We shall celebrate on Sunday, November 13th which is officially our last day on the 12 week Beginner Rotation.

However... from the 4th thru the 13th, I know that I won't be able to stick with our exercise routine... I'll be lucky if I exercise at all that week. But I will check in and give progress (or non progress) reports and cheer you on as we approach the "finish line." And I know that FnV and Stacy will do the same.

However..... I hope that even after our official 12 weeks is over... that we will all continue to post here with our food and workout progress.

There is no reason to stop our support group just because the magic 12 weeks is at an end. I intend to keep going for a very long time..... cause that's how long it will be til I reach my goal of being strong and healthy and a normal weight. Remember... I have 45 pounds to lose and at the rate that I am losing, it will take me a loooooong time..... :p

So.. I'm not going anywhere....

Onward and upward we go team.

Remember..... progress, NOT perfection !!!

We CAN do this... we ARE doing this....

Hugs all around !!!!!!!!!!!!

My gym sends out a weekly newsletter via email. I thought this one was particular good. They got if from Huffington Post.....

Healthy Lifestyle Tip: Seeing Is Believing

In life and work, success begins with a goal. Before we can believe in a goal, we first must have an idea of what it looks like. “We must see it before we can believe it” is where visualization comes in, which is simply a technique for creating a mental image of a future event.

When we visualize our desired outcome, we begin to "see" the possibility of achieving it. Through visualization, we catch a glimpse of what is, in the words of one writer, our "preferred future." When this happens, we are motivated and prepared to pursue our goal.

Studies show that visualization increases athletic performance by improving motivation, coordination and concentration. It also aids in relaxation and helps reduce fear and anxiety. In the words of one researcher, "Visualization helps the athlete just do it and do it with confidence, poise, and perfection."

Visualization does not guarantee success. It also does not replace hard work and practice, but when combined with diligent effort and a strong support network, it is a powerful way to achieve positive behavioral change and create the life you desire.

Morning Ladies, I am up having my coffee before I start getting ready for the 5K 1 Miles walk. I actually have a full day planned, after the Walk, I am going to come home and rest and then get up and go to my little cousin 7th birthday party. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day.

Deanna

Deanna - It sounds like a wonderful day !! Enjoy. You deserve it.

I have .... on the Susan Rotation today..... total body workout, abs and stretching. I'd better get at it... lol

I'm working today, so hope to get in a workout at some point. I have a short Jillian workout planned. (When I work I also have a pager so it's often hard to find uninterrupted time whether I'm home or at the lab).

Deanna...enjoy your walk! I havent done an organized walk in awhile. I've walked a few half marathons, but I think any future walks may just be some 5K's but no more than a 5 or 6 miler. I dont feel the need to walk those longer distances anymore.

Susan, thanks for the newsletter article! Which total body workout did you choose?

FnV...sounds like you're going thru a bit of a slump! Picking shorter workouts like Jillian's and KCM's 30 Minute To Fitness workouts have really helped me get refocused and remotivated. But, if you're going thru a spell where you just need a break, take it and dont feel guilty about it. Just try to eat some healthy things along the way, oftentimes, just making a simple choice to grab an apple rather than a candy bar is enough to shift gears and get things moving in the right direction :)

And, I definitely plan to stick around even after Susan and Deanna's Beginner Rotation is over!!

I'll check back later when I can, and hopefully with a workout to report!

Hey Ladies, I am back from my walk I did 2 miles. The weather was beautiful, nice cool breeze. I am going to rest a little before going to the birthday party.

Again, I hope everyone have a blessed day.

Deanna

Great job on your walk, Deanna! I need to get out just for a fun walk now that the leaves are changing color and the weather is getting cooler.

I just finished Jillian's Ripped in 30 Workout #3. It was pretty challenging for a 20 minute workout and I defnitely worked up a sweat! So, short and sweet. Wasnt much but I did something!

Diet today...lacking veggies. Had an apple and yogurt post workout.

Hey, I am slammed w/ school work and some other worries right now. Hopefully workouts in again next week. Keep up the good work

Keep your chin up, FnV! I can relate to that slammed and stressed feeling all too well. We're here if you need to vent!

I just pre-ordered a new kickboxing workout, I'm really hoping I like it, it looks tough but fun! It's Susan Chung's new "RapidFire: Results". Here's a clip...

Total Fitness DVDs - Your Total Source for Fitness

Eating today, still lacking vegetables, unless you count potato chips (??) I didnt eat as many as I wanted, so I guess that's progress?????

Might be too much info, but I think I'm hitting menopause, that or else something is really wrong with my hormones. I cant get into my GYN for a few months, I might call again and see if I can get in sooner.

Have a good evening ladies!

Good evening everyone !!

Deanna - sounds like you had a fun walk !! I miss walking outside. My dog and I used to go for 1 short and 3 long walks every day around the neighborhood. I need to get back out there for the fresh air and sunshine.

Stacy - that Susan Chung workout looks like something that you will love. I noticed that she has one girl doing a low impact version. Too kicky for this old lady, but it looks like fun !!

FnV - sending hugs and good thoughts your way and hopes that things will settle down soon.... Take care of yourself as much as possible.

I did Push Pull today. I love that workout. It's only about 50 minutes including the warmup, but it's a great total body workout. I did my pushups a la the Pushup Challenge.. not real pushups, of course, I'm starting back with wall pushups... lol. I know... real wimpy.. but I figure if I do the wall pushups on the program for the first couple of weeks, then I can re-start the program with knee pushups and eventually get to real pushups.

Not so great on the food today.. nor yesterday... but my bad days now are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. That's progress.

Stacy - great job on keeping the potato chip consumption moderate. Potato chips are one of my HUGE temptations. I've stayed away from them... but I did have that big chocolate cupcake disaster a couple of weeks ago.... I would have been better off having the chips... they ARE a vegetable... and the ingredients aren't bad if you get the kind made with a halfway decent oil, not tooo much salt and nothing else....

Have a great evening... I'm off to slice some strawberries to put on a bowl of fat free Greek yogurt and call that supper.. lol

Stacy - I had hot flashes for what seemed like decades before and during menopause, but other than that I didn't have any problems. I hope you can get in to see the doctor sooner rather than later. Hang in there. Menopause was the best thing that every happened to me :)

Oatmeal, banana and coffee with fat-free 1/2 and 1/2 for breakfast !! That's quickly becoming my standard breakfast. It's a good meal before workouts !!
