The results of bodybuilding...

RE: Non-competition picture

Wow, Tneah!! Amazing, girl!! I'm sure you did work your butt off!! (love the hair & nails too! ;-) )

Tneah,

WOW! (mesmerizing and wishing my body to look like that)

You look so beautiful! If it is at all feasible, could you please give some tips on how to do that? If I could look just half that way I would be in 7th heaven. I know now that I have a goal in mind. Wow that's impressive!

You are very sweet. I am actually working with a trainer who trains fitness models, competitors and the like. He is one of the best in the biz, check out his web site. I am doing the 12 week program and have seen incredible results, my bodyfat has not been this low in years and years. Its tough though and a real commitment, timewise and everything. Give them a call. Other than that, its all about eating every three hours, getting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, limiting your food choices (mainly carbs), drinking about 1 gallon of water a day, lifting heavy weights and doing tons of cardio.

Example: I am currently doing 50 minutes of cardio in the AM and the PM, plus on hour of heavy weights 4 days a week. I eat 7 mini meals per day, three of which are protein drinks made with water and flax oil.

Let me know what you think.:)

And I am not pushing anyone's agenda, just so you know, I saw there was some concern over members doing that around here.
This is just what I am doing right now, and Kim is the best in my opinion.

I totally agree with what you say here but I am surprised you can keep muscle on your frame doing that much cardio. The second I let go of the cardio (only 3 times a week and under an hour each session) I dropped body fat like crazy. Even when I'm cutting my cardio stays around 3-3 1/2 hrs. per week and the body fat just melts off.

Diet is 85% of the battle and I truly believe this. You can lift and do cardio like a freak and not get anywhere until you know what your body wants as fuel. It took me a long time to get that right but now I think I have it down pretty well. I also eat at least 7 times a day on lifting days, 6 times a day on cardio days.

Are you training for another competition right now? Also, how old are you if you don't mind me asking.

Wow. That is a lot of work Tneah - you can truly be proud of your dedication, commitment, and accoplishments.

You really impress me. I am quite chubby right now. I was never as cut as you are in that photo, but I used to be at a much lower body fat percentage than I am now. Again, not as muscular as you, but fairly strong and very lean. However, I seem to go all or nothing with things and, for me, I just can't sustain that level of training/eating. When I get into that mode (which hasn't happened in a looooong time), I don't attend family events, I become very cranky, and I don't perform well at work as I'm always thinking about food and/or working out. So I back off of the workouts and consume nothing but sweets and salt for months (years, actually). Man, I wish I could find a happy medium.

Kudos to you! I wish I had your willpower.

tneah,

Thank you so much for this information. Unfortunately I don't have the money to spend. I spent it on a Marcy machine, Cathe, and all kinds of dumbbells and stuff like that there. I was thinking that it would be less expensive to get a fit body at home instead of a gym, where there are colds and flue all over the place.

I did look through your information, and I really like it. Any suggestions for at home care for fitness to get half the look as you? I'd be satisfied with that. Perhaps at that time my finances might look better and then might be able to do what you suggest.

I will now concentrate on cardio, heavy weight lifting and eating every 3 hours. And as you suggested above. Using the Marcy machine a lot more and just try my best to getting my body better.

Also Debbie has given me fantastic information as well. You ladies are something else. WOW!

Thank you so much,

Janie

Debbie, you are sooo lucky cardio affects you like that. I have always done a ton when trying to get lean. In fact for the contest I did, my trainer at the time had me up to 1 1/2 hours in the AM, and 1 hour PM.yuk.
To make a long story short, I am 41, had hip replacement surgery last July and had lost so much muscle in my lower body because of my limp. I always stay around 18 percent bodyfat but wanted to "push it" a little harder, clean up my eating and build some lower body muscle now that my hip is like brand new.
I found Kim through Monica Brant's book. He started me out with 30 minutes cardio in the morning, then 35 minutes at night. I started at the end of Jan. so I am right in the middle of the 12 -week program. I check in every week with pics and twice a month with a phone call. He then makes adjustments to my diet and cardio program. I am eating around 1,599 calories per day, maybe a little less now that he took my evening carbs away! Last time I checked in, Kim said my bodyfat looked to be around 13-14 percent, so I am making slow and gradual progress, plus I am putting on muscle in the process. I must be a meso/endo body type!
Kim has made such gradual changes to my program, that I hardly notice, the first 2 weeks were hell, but its gotten better.
I am not thinking about competition anymore, I have a lovely 5 inch scar on my butt from the surgery, but have often wondered about the physique contests, they are a "kinder" sort of competition that doesn't require alot of dancing around and gymnastics. But we shall see! Are you thinking of competing? You should do it at least once!

Janie, I work out at home too! You can build and get lean at home if you have the proper equipment for sure. I think the new STS series, combined with a clean diet and cardio might just do the trick for you. My weight lifting sessions aren't anything fancy at all, the basic stuff really, only not as many exercises or sets as Cathe does.

Tneah - Interesting. Sorry to hear about your hip. That would just plain suck out loud. I am 41 as well, will be 42 here shortly. And no, I won't compete. I just can't see myself on stage in a bikini in front of tons of people. That would scare the crap out of me.

Janie - I workout exclusively from home. No fancy gyms, no trainers. I do it all on my own so I know it can be done. I also agree with Tneah, the STS series is going to be a breakthrough for Cathe. This is the type of training I'm doing right now and I see nothing but results from it.

Tneah - I was wondering the same thing about all the cardio, but I think you make some good points about body type and doing what works for you.

I have a question though - is your cardio steady state or interval or do you mix it up? And what level of intensity?

RE: Non-competition picture

Hi tneah, we haven't met yet but this:

"your female parts can "grow" yes,its true"

made me go:

Tneah-All I can say is you look amazing girl!!

Off the heels of Cindi's question, do you walk or jog? Just wondering because of your hip replacement and all, does the level of intensity bother your hip?

RE: Non-competition picture

Y'all are making me blush, for heavens sake it was so long ago..;) but gee, thanks guys.:7

Sparrow, I know! Is that not the grossest thing ever? You sorta grow your own "male member" if you will.

With my cardio, I really mix it up. Right now I am doing alot of the itrain workouts, the walking ones with Grace, then the elliptical ones and the cycling ones.I am also really into the Spinerval workouts, there are so many to choose from, and I am starting to really like the bike, one of the pieces of equipment that does not hurt your joints at all.

I cannot run at all, that is the one thing I have not or will not be able to do since the surgery-or before the surgery for that matter! But strangely enough, plyo moves in some of Cathe's workouts do not bother me, and the ones that do I simply modify. I can do jumping jacks but not tuck jumps. I try to do an intense/interval day, then take two days and do steady state. Its alot of cardio so I am learning to get a little creative!

Debbie, thats okay, competing isn't the end all, but you have a beautiful physique and would do well.;)

PS... If my trainer adds anymore cardio, I will say no. I am working towards a goal, but I have a life and my limits, and I am at those limits right now. I even incorporate a cheat day into my plan, otherwise I would not be able to stick with this at all.

Tneah, you were ahead of your time, girl. I live in Columbus Ohio, where The Arnold Sports Festival (including The Classic) was held but I only visited the vendor area. I saw a lot of what I thought were extreme bodies but none come close to Brazil (whom I didn't see). Yuck. But the MEN - I mean the one's just walking around - were B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. The venue was so crowded I could hardly walk so, odds are, at least two or three were S.T.R.A.I.G.H.T...

Oh, I have been to the Arnold when it used to be held in Las Vegas. And yes, the people walking around (mainly the men) are a sight for sore eyes aren't they? Well, so are the gals traipsing around in their hot pants and shirts slit to there!:)

When I saw those girls in those crazy outfits with everything hanging out of their short, tight nylon and lycra skirts and their DEEP-v neck tops I was like "Ladies... It's the dead of WINTER! Puhleeeze...." And where do they even FIND those getups? SlutsRUs? They dressed like cheap streetwalkers. That was ALL the chicks (working the vendor booths AND walking around). Oddly, the GUYS working the vendor booths were dressed real classy; nice slacks, nice shirts. You could tell by the cut of their clothes that they were buff but they weren't sticking it in your face. The ladies could learn a lesson. Buff in a figure-flattering dress would up the sophistication level considerably.
