STS NEW YEARS CHALLENGERS...WEEK OF JUNE 12th!

Hey Bridget!! Don't let that workout mgr calendar scare you too much..(yeah...that from a huge scaredy-cat) but anyway, It seems like so much and then before you know it you're half way through it (like me) Glad you joined our raucus bunch  We can be hormonal, crying, laughing our heads off, or ticked off...:D

fit mommy: what BR workout are you going to do?

just got back from MIL's birthday lunch. Can I just stay home for one day please????? tomorrow busy too....!!!! Of course, I simply must get my hair done...!!! Thinking about doing KCM KB1 and some abs....right after I sleep off my pizza-for-lunch hangover.

Gettin' warm here in the SFO Bay area!

WAKE UP Wendy!!! :)

Hi there! My ankle is still a little sore today, so I decided to switch my plans from doing Cardio Kicks and only did AC - Pilates one. Thought I'd better rest my ankle today - hoping it doesn't interfere with my planned Disc 6 (Legs) tomorrow :( I'll plan on CK on Friday which was my scheduled rest day...

Katie - thanks for the healing thoughts:) Of all the Cathe videos I have - go figure that MMA boxing is one i don't have  (I don't have MMA fusion or Step Moves either - but I have every other one! Oh if my hubby knew how I've gathered them through the years!) Congrats on getting KPC in - I love that one too! Hope your wrist is better soon!

Tracy - Pizza for lunch hangover, I like that (I love pizza... I swear that is a food I could eat every day) hope the KCM workout was good:)

Bridget - Welcome! This is a great group - I'm just finishing my 2nd week of STS, and am new to the group too. They've been really helpful, entertaining and motivating for me:) I look forward to getting to know you!

Wendy - congrats on the unofficial weigh in! :) I love that. Great job on the workouts! Wow, that's lots of planks...

Kiki - Can't wait to hear about SB:) .

Oops - clicked submit instead of preview - so continuing below:)

Kiki - thanks for the motivation on the pull ups - yep, got to love the tapered waist for sure. that'll get me there:) And I will see what I can pull together of some punching from some KB workouts... That's an option I'll keep for sure - great idea!

Melanie - great job on 4DS and Hiit! :) Tough combination there for sure!

Hope you all have a great afternoon!

fit mommy: instead of KCM KB I decided to try your BR w/o simply because it intimidated me !:D:confused: It was really a fun challenge. Right out of the shoot (isn't that rodeo talk?) the burpees about knocked me down, but once I got those out of the way...I just did it!! Of course, since my upper body was stinging from yesterday STS and my push up challenge I did the push-ups on my knees. thanks for the suggestion...again..it was a nice fun challenge. Zuzanna (sp?) did it in 33 min ...I don't have an interval timer, but I was watching the clock and it took me 35-36 minutes.

Welcome Bridget!!!!! Love your avatar!!! I wanted to be 2 things growing up... a nurse & Wonder Woman. :)

Katie ~ Put your game face on... are you REEEAAAADDDDDYYYY to rumble????;) I thought the "don't fall" joke was funny the 1st time I heard it too... which funny thing is a dude we called "Squirrel" came up with that one... I'm sure that wasn't his real name but I do live in a rural area, lol. ;)

Tracy ~ YAY you are back!!!! LOL @ workout chick friends :) I know, who cares what Zuzana did before? Her workouts are kick arse!!!

Kristin ~ Yeah, Cathe & her pushups, which she makes look so easy!!! I'm looking forward to my 2nd round of STS. I will be finished breastfeeding maybe when I do it again and would expect better results. Hormones can certainly undermine hard work. Plus, I'm an ectomorph and think the only way I can add muscle to my body is eating meat. ;)

Kris ~ Yes, it is wise to rest (signed, Nurse Autumn :D). It is tough not to push yourself, but it is better to prevent further problems. **this is a case of do as I rec, not as I do b/c I am a naughty patient**:confused: I'm terrible at chin/pullups too. I've started doing a pullup challenge with the hopes that before I turn 50 (I'm 40 :p;)) I'll be able to do unassited pullups... but not looking promising.

Melanie ~ Bootcamp 4DS plus HIIT 30/30???? **bowing down to you** I did kettlebells, yoga, barre, and some body rock during my rest week. I just listened to my body & did what I was in the mood to do.

KiKi/Tiff ~ Ohmigudness, thank you!! Love the 15 years younger!!! :D You are rockin' those step workouts!!! I better brush up on my steppin'!!!! I gotta feelin' I'll be the one trippin' and fallin' off my step.:confused: Ahh, DD#2, I plan to nurse on our breaks. If I disappear, you'll know I'm being held cuddle/nursing hostage. ;) She is 7 months old tomorrow. She is a funny girl... I hope she outgrows her growling stage by the RT :eek: She sometimes growls while she nurses, lol. :)

Wendy ~ No, not playboy but porn. :( I'm like you and don't care as far as using her workouts. :p I'd love to be as fit and look as good as her!! :D The :( is not a judgement but b/c she said:
I made a lot of bad choices when I was a teenage girl – leaving school, leaving home, trying to go out into the world much too young on my own. I got involved in something that I shouldn’t have and I wish that I could take it back. When I was 18 in a state of emotional desperation without money, job, a home or education I took a job as an erotic model. That particular choice almost ruined my entire life and led to years of darkness and abuse. I had no idea how hard it would be to pull out of it or how devastating it would be emotionally and on my spirit. It is a trap that a lot of young girls in eastern Europe fall into and I feel very lucky to have survived the experience...

Anyway, I'm fairly confident no young girl dreams of doing porn, etc., and it just makes me sad for her and others like her. Now back to our regular program, that workout looks great... and here goes my exercise ADD. :p;)

I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Ok, so my workout today was spinervals. That is all I had time for b/c DD#2 is bossy... ahh but I love the li'l Diva. G'night all...

Hey ladies! I'm bummed because I went to update an app on my phone today, and then the whole phone shut down completely, and would not turn back on  ! What the?! Doesn't anyone realize that I have a forum to keep up w/during the day? *SIGH* DH just went to take it up to the Verizon store to find out what the problem is, so I figured I'd sneak on here and find out what I've missed while being completely disconnected from LIFE! (ok...a bit of an exaggeration, but ya'll get my drift ;) )

So, yeah, Step Blast went down, umm...yea. We'll leave it at that  . So I'm still accepting applications for my RT stunt double :p . On the bright side, I did get the ab work in (threw it in first, because I knew I'd be ready to strangle someone after SB), and the SM stretch helped to calm me down a bit.

Bridget: Welcome! Glad you made it (and that your STS finally made it to you ;) ) I can't wait to hear your experiences w/it. I gotta admit I'm starting to get the STS itch again, but have sworn myself off until I learn how to step (or until the RT, whichever comes first :p ) It does seem a bit daunting looking out 3.5 months from now on the WM calendar, but trust me, it FLIES by. The only suggestion that I would make on the 1RM is to at least glance at the video, to see how the w/o is performed in it (especially the rep speed). That's were I found that my 1RMs were off, when I put something in as how many straight sets I could do, and then when doing the w/o Cathe would say something crazy like "1,2,3,4 (or up, over, down, up, over, down) - that's one rep" .....Yea, I quickly found that I could barely do one rep at that speed with the weight I put. LOL

fit mommy: instead of KCM KB I decided to try your BR w/o simply because it intimidated me !:D:confused: It was really a fun challenge.

YAY! See? You have now officially conquered your fear of Zuzanna and Body Rock! You can join me each week now! LOL ;) Which 600 repper did you do? The one I'm supposed to do this week or the one I did last week? You should seriously try the cardio work out now!

Not sure what I'll do yet today as my legs are still talkin' to me...I'll BBL to report it though. Whatever it is!:D

Hey everyone. Fly-by check in for me this a.m. Last night I gave IMAX 3 another whirl and got most of the steps down this time. THis workout is killer! I love it ! I also did medicine ball abs. My older DS, he is 5 going on 6, he wanted to do the ball workout with me. So I gave him his Star Wars ball and a towel as a mat. He was too funny. He kept saying, "This is burning, Mommy." At the end of the workout he was asking me if his muscles got bigger now, lol :D.

I'll bbl to catch up on personals,

Kristin

My work out is done.

I decided it was in my best interest to put off my 600 repper because of the state of my legs currently AND the fact that I have STS legs on tap for this weekend! I need them in good working order!

Alternatively, this is what I did....
BODYROCK.tv | Fitness Advice, Workout Videos, Health & Fitness | Bodyrock.tv
+ 250 mountain climbers (took me 5 mins to do these yet I did the official challenge of 500 in 6 minutes so either I was counting wrong this time or I just sucked this morning! LOL Either way it still was an azz kicker tho so I guess I don't care BUT if I was counting wrong then I really did 500 in 5 mins! YEAH! One can hope! ;) )
+ 5 mins of jumping jacks/jump rope intervals

Gotta go for now...BBIAB!

fit mommy: I did the Nov 19, 2009 BR link that you posted yesterday (I think). It was:

60 Burpees with calf raise
One Leg Push Ups – 60 reps (switching legs)
Jump Lunges – 60 reps
One Leg Dead Lifts – 60 reps total (30 on each leg)
Crunches with Leg Extensions – 60 reps
Prisoner Squat and Front Kick – 60 reps (switching legs)
One Leg Tricep Dip – 60 reps (switching legs)
One Leg Jump – 60 reps total (30 on each leg)
Chest Lift _ 60 reps
Over The Chair Kick – 60 reps total (30 on each leg)

I think you said you were going to do this today.
Here I am, up since 2 am. I just love the raging hormones!:confused:

Kristin: It was difficult for me to love IMAX3 since it seemed to me it did not want my love :D. But it really has grown on me...It is a toughie...good for you!

THE kikster: sorry about madame Iphone....bummer. I still have the ancient plain ol' phone...it's about all I can handle.:)

autumn: my DD2 (child 3) is miss bossy knickers too. I frequently have to remind her, that yes, I am the mother in this relationship:D

Just got home and showered from my 5am spinning class, that's right 5am! I am a morning exerciser- if I don't do it first thing, chances are it won't happen. I am always surprised by the people I know in my spin class, it is usually full too!

Autumn- funny you should say that, I am a nurse, and I really am Wonder Woman!

Fit_Mommy/Tracy- I saw your Body Rock workout- I have a friend who is into Cross Fit- keeps trying to get me to go- (the burpees tipped me off) sounds similar?

Kristin- love the Star Wars ball workout with ds. My dd is 9 and usually uses the step & risers to make large forts in my living room, or obstacle courses for the dog.

Kiki- I used to love Step Blast when it first came out, now I don't have the patience for it anymore. I like shorter step routines repeated more often.

(who else am I forgetting? this is a big group!) thanks for the welcome!

- help me out-what is BBIAB?

Bridget

Hey, all! Bridget is right this group is getting BIG  I think we can officially take votes on our new name now ;) . Come to think of it, we've only had 2 people suggest a new name  (none of which were me, lol, the person who keeps pushing for it! ) Wendy & Autumn. I mean, I suppose we could just take the whole "New Years" part out and leave it at that...but that would be a little plain for this wacky group, lol. :p

Anyway on to this check-in business. Got all that SB nonsense outta the way yesterday, and since that DVD is still in the player, I'm just gonna be lazy and do SJP today - step only, and then switch it out and knock down GS BB&S, for my weights. I SOOOO wanted to do an STS w/o today, but just realized that none of the w/o's in the ENTIRE program, combine back and shoulders on the same disc :( . Go figure, I was really determined too, but finally just went w/trusty old GS ;) I'm sure I'll probably throw in a nice stretch too. (maybe STS ES just to make myself feel better :p )

Wendy: Nice job w/BR w/o again. I get the strangest feeling that all those burpees are about to take the AB Nazi to the next level  . Should we be afraid?!

Autumn: Thanks for the Zuzana bio, lol :p As for Zuzana's past...I suppose we've all done things we're not especially proud of (maybe not to THAT extent, lol, but nonetheless  ) I never knew that about her either, but I've checked out her vids and w/o's over the years and always felt that she kinda had an "erotic" demeanor in many of her poses, and such. But I never paid it much mind, because I new that her man was the one taking the pics, so if he didn't care...why would I ? But, now it all makes sense. If she started doing that at such a young age, it's probably very much still a part of her, even if just a small part. Regardless, her body does ROCK, & I sure ain't gon' be the one to throw the first stone, lol

Kris: Tricep DOMS!!! Gotta love when you get DOMS in awkward places, lol. My DH always gives me crazy looks when I complain of some weird DOMS location, lol. But then the other day he worked out (I've been creating w/o plan's for him). And the next day we're sitting on the couch, and outta nowhere, he's all "man I got NADS in my back". ME:  "what the heck is NADS?" DH: "you know, what you always say when your muscles are sore the next day" :p ME: Umm, you mean DOMS? ;) DH: yea, yea, whatever
ROFL

Kristin + Imax 3 = LOVE ?!? Is this an insane assylum? What kinda nonsense? You've only done it twice? Got most of the steps down  ? Grrrrrr.... LOL Oh well, I suppose I can forgive you since your stories of your little boy are SO DARN CUTE! I just wanna come kidnap him and return him to you at oh, say...about 11-12 yrs old :p I'm sure you reassured him that his muscles had gotten bigger from his little w/o stint, right? ;) Come to think of it, he sounds like my DH, who works out once in a blue moon, and then is flexing all over the place saying how "swole" he is now

Tracy: Another Body Rocker, eh? How ya feeling today? Up since 2? Isn't today supposed to be another busy day for you?

Bridget: 5 am spinning  . Umm.....wow. I'm still snoozin my alarm @ 5am (meaning I should be up...but I'm not :p ) I do know what you mean about exercising before the day gets going, though. If I don't it just all slips away from me. But I'm a SAHM, so my schedule is kooky at times. I get up straighten up the house, make coffee and breakfast, and get DH out the door. Then I have a cup of joe, and check in w/ya'll before working out. I wish I could be like you, Wendy, and Katie - our early AM w/o chicks.

Melanie: How'd your first w/o in M1 W4 go? Isn't that first Meso flying by? I'd just relax and enjoy the rest week, if you'll be out of town. Travel fit should be perfect, maybe some recreational fun, like riding bikes, swimming, hiking, etc. I typically do LOTS of stretching on my rest weeks, and also shift the focus to cardio and abs (which I'm usually lacking during each Meso). Just don't do anything too crazy, I've pushed myself too hard during rest weeks before (typically between M2 & 3) and ended up causing injury, and having to postpone M3 because of it. Since each Meso gets harder, you may wanna adjust your rest week accordingly (like doing more stretching/relaxing in between M2 & 3)

Jeni: how's it going so far?

Have a good day ladies! (oh, and madame iPhone is fixed! Yay! :D)

I'm back and before I got here I checked out how I was supposed to be counting the mountain climbers I did this morning and guess what!? I counted wrong so I only counted HALF of what I actually which means....*drum roll please*....that I beat my original time and did all 500 mountain climbers in 5 mins!!!!!!!! WOOT! :D

Tracy: Yup-that's the one I wanted to do this morning but my legs stopped me. It was the jumping lunges and burpees that forced me to put it off for another day. I plan to do it next week now!

Kiki: You have nothing to fear except for fear itself my dear! Bwahahahah! ;):D Yeah missy-changing the check in name was your big idea so come up with a name now! :p

Bridget: I am familiar with crossfit. Never taken a class but they like kettlebells and I have trained with bells before. Good stuff! I need to get back to them some day but I have such a big work out to-do list and not enough days in a week/weeks in a month/months in a year to get it all done. *sigh* So you should go with your friend to a Crossfit class and then report back to us on it! ;)

Kristin: That's adorable that your DS did abs with you and told you it was burning! My son likes to do overhead shoulder presses with my 2# DB's. ;) He is capable, however, of picking up much heavier weights! I've seen him lift 20#! Good job on IMAX3! It's been all the rage lately and I have yet to jump on the bandwagon!

Autumn: Wow, what a sad story about Zuzana. So happy for her that she got out of it and turned her life around. I can't believe people are judging her for that! UGH! If anything I admire her more for finding the strength to get out of that mess and turn her life around!!!!:)

Hi ladies!! I'm at the convention "listening" to all this fabulous programming! I just wanted to drop a quick line to let y'all know I completed Disc 21 this morning! Those double wave thingies are killers but I really enjoyed the workout. Is it possible to have NADS - I mean DOMS - already? Even though I can't catch up on personals at the moment I'm keeping up with all your fabulous posts. :) Great workouts everyone!!

Katie

Bonjour!!

Fit mommy: ok... you could do 500 mtn climbers but not the burpees? No comprendo mi amigo ! Mtn climbers kick mein boot! (love my multi-lingual capability?) Those burpees are tough, I simply must say this again, then to add the calf raise! The lunges were ok, not easy, but they went. What I love about BR is that if I went somewhere I could probably just take a single heavy weight and do it wherever I was...(since I don't have Travel Fit) Also...have you noticed they utilize a dip station thing...and I have my HANDY DANDY walker :D that I found at the thrift store. I think I might do the abs w/o she posted yesterday with it.

kiki: there you go cracking me up again with all your SB nonsense. I love how you are too lazy to change the dvd for your workout! It's little things that I just cannot bear to do sometimes. I think I finally went back to sleep at 5 and up at 7:30. And it will be busy again today, but tomorrow I have NOTHING on my schedule (said the British way ("sh") not American ("sk") of course) Then Friday is back at me.

zbridget: don't know nuthin' 'bout fancy names like "Cross fit", but it is a kick my bootay, gasping-for-breath, help-me workout...Oh and it's fun too:)

ricklyk1: oooo convention sounds...zzzz...oh sorry had to wake myself up...sounds borinG!! snore. Maybe not though??? I hope you are able to enjoy yourself and glean something from it to make you Super Lawyer! (cape included) all right!! you did 21 today! wait a minute...how did you get so ahead of me??? I am only on disk 19 today.... :(

itsup2YOU: gotta love the tricep pain...lets me know they are there and I did my job well:)

I am off to do STS disk 19 and then GO! will try to BBL, but since I am on the west coast, it will probably be when you all are at home having/making dinner.

we could let my DH name our group: STS workout chicks, as he likes to call all of you. But there might be another group with "chicks" in it. don't know.

Good morning!

Checked out the bodyrock – I don’t really think I’m there yet. Looks killer! So instead, yesterday I did a two mile interval run and STS medicine ball w/ a partner abs (or as my husband calls it – abs for lovers – yuck!). I have disc 2 and probably a run planned for tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Tracy:: MC's for me are great cardio and a KILLER upper body work out but not so tough on the lower body. LOTS less tough on it then burpees!!!!!!!!!!! Does that answer your question and confirm in your mind that I'm not crazy or anything? LOL Yes, BR is definitey good for traveling!!!! I was wondering how I was going to do dips! I may just have to scour garage sales and second hand stores for walkers now!;) "STS Work Out Chicks"...that's too much of a sissy-sounding name for us! LOL We are tougher then that, don't you think!? :p How about "STS BODY ROCKERS!!!!!" ;):D

Hi KATIE!!!!!!!!!:)

Jen:: The BR work outs can always be modified if you are interested in trying a couple and she gives beginner modifications in some of the work outs too! Up to you though! Good job with the run and LMAO at your reaction to what your DH calls the partner med ball abs! :D
