RS, MIC, and Imax

I am considering purchasing the dvd with Rythmic Step, Maximum Intensity Cardio, and Interval Max. What do you guys think about these workouts? Are they as good as the newer ones?:)

These are some of Cathe's best. I LOVE Rythmic Step - it's fun, dancy, and just complicated enough that even your 50th time doing it is not boring. MIC is considered her toughest cardio ever. Every time I think I'm in shape I do that, and see if I finish the last blasts on the step. IMax is good - more Athletic, less dancy.

Love Rhythmic Step, hate hate hate MIC hi/lo - like the step portion, and indifferent to IMAX.

I mostly do RS from that one. I LOVE Rhythmic Step--by far my favorite step workout in spite of injuring my ankle last time I did it (second favorite is Step Blast). The great thing about this combo of workouts on one DVD is it's good variety--RS is more complex step, MIC is step and hi/lo, Imax has interval step--so lots of cardio fun from just one DVD (but like I said, it's mainly RS for me).

I think I am going to purchase the dvd. I have watched the previews on all three and they look like good workouts. Thanks everyone for your input. :)

I love Rhythmic Step. I never do the other 2 workouts. MIC is dated, and I never did the step portion anyway. It inlcudes several moves I dislike and the music is not terribly motivating. I think, that if you have Step Blast, a superior Cathe step workout, you do not need MIC and would be wasting your $ buying it, especially in light of all the great new stuff Cathe is doing now. I don't do IMAX much either. Most of the blasts are done on the floor and I find that there's a disjunction between having this be a step workout and yet the intervals mostly do not use the step. That doesn't work for me. Imax 2, on the other hand, is a superlative interval workout and is such an improvement upon the formula. It incorporates the step into the blasts, the music is terriffic, the whole workout rocks and is not so painful to do as the original Imax. Less dread factor.

I do love RS though and I bought the DVD for this workout alone. I wish it had not been included with the other 2 workouts, but, sigh....what can you do?

In your place, however, given that Cathe has just released the Drill Max series and has the 4 day split coming out in Sep, and she has plans for 2 more filming events in 2008, I'd be tempted to save my cash for all of these and give RS a miss. (Unless you can get you can get this workout DVD cheap on ebay.....).

Clare,

I already preordered the new series and also have Drill Max. Hmmm....This may require more thought than I expected:) I am also purchasing the gym styles and wanted to add a good one to these to bump up my purchase amount to get free shipping. I figured this dvd would be a good deal because it contains three workouts. I have all the cardio from the hard core series excluding cadio fusion and hardcore extreme. I also have MM, Imax2 + C&W, BC & ME, PUB/PLB, and the Terminator. I bought the discount bundle for Intensity series and would like to do the same with the Body Blast series which is why I am not purchasing one of these dvds with this order. Would you suggest adding on cardio fusion, core max or another weight training dvd instead?

This is just my opinion but if you've looked at the clips and think you might like them I'd say go for it and buy the DVD. Personally, I love all three workouts. Like another poster mentioned you get some really diverse cardio from this DVD. Rhythmic Step is fun and complex, MIC is just plain hard (and not that dated in my opinion) and Imax is also a tough one. I'm a fan of all the Imaxs.:) If you're getting the Gym Styles this is some great cardio to round out your routine. To me the biggest downfall of this DVD is the lack of chaptering and premixes.

You didn't say if you had Body Max 2 or Low Impact Circuit or not. If not, these are two others I would consider. Their premixes contain some great cardio only workouts.

HTH:)

Jacque,

Yes, I have LIC and BM2 and love them. I guess this is just going to require some more consideration. I may search the forums for reviews of these workouts to see if that might help with my decision. I believe that I will really like RS and probably MIC too but I'm not so sure about Imax. I have Imax 2 & 3 and like both of these but the clip on this Imax didn't show much of what the actual intervals contain. Thank you for your advice.

The intervals on Imax are highly repetitive because they involve only one action and it is repeated for the full minute, minute and half with no variation. I found it dull. If you have difficulty doing certain moves, like star jumps, it sucks somewhat, because you will have to sub another move in. Even so, Imax 2 is just so much more imaginative.

It is a fallacy to think that you have to have every workout any instructor puts out. Sometimes, even Cathe puts out a DVD or workout that is less than stellar, less than motivating. Buying just for the sake of buying isn't really worth doing.

I can't tell you what else to get, unless you get Slow & Heavy, if you don't already have it. That is a classic series of workouts.
