Just nosey: how high of a heel do you normally wear?

This sounds like something straight out of the 1950's, but I don't buy shoes (dress shoes) unless they have a heel that is at least two inches high, usually three. I don't know why other than I think I enjoy towering over people. ;-) Also, I have nice legs and they look good in heels! lol

Ok, so I *do* own a few pair of sneakers and even a pair of flip-flops (in which I feel irksomely short). And I do take off my heels to work out, just in case you think I am the chick in the gym with the sparkly workout gear and heels. Hmm, something tells me there are probably some ladies out there....

Ok, how about you?

When I wear heels, which is about 1-2x per week, I prefer 3". Less than that gives me an awkward gate, more than that's freaking ridiculous! I also have to put gel inserts into my heels so my feet don't look like balloon animals by the time I get home from work.

The second I get home, the heels come off, and I have been known to drive home barefoot. :)

I'm tall - 5'9' so I wear flats! Plus, I'm a klutz, so walking in heels any higher than 1" puts myself and those in the immediate vicinity in grave danger.

I refuse to wear heels, as they are horrible for your knees, back and feet. My highest shoes have about a 1.5" heel. I don't wear them very much, because they throw off my walk and make my back and feet hurt. I wear flats or short-heeled shoes most of the time. Thank goodness I never have to dress up for anything, because I'd be miserable wearing those dressy, pointy, horrid high-heeled shoes. And it wouldn't do me an ounce of good anyway, because I'm so short that no heel will ever cause me to tower over anyone. ;) So I don't even bother trying...

I work for a casual dress company, so most of my shoes are one to two inces. If I'm getting dressed up, I'll go as high as three inches, but usually I stick with two (I'm about 5'11", and if I go any higher than 6'2" with heels, I get king of clutzy). I never where skinny heels, however; they've got to be fairly solid. Don't you find that with the really skinny heels, it's like you are walking on your toes the entire time? That requires too much coordination for me.

Well, since I am in sneakers everyday, I just cannot wait to break the heels out and the higher and the pointier the toe, the better. My DH always asks where the heck my toes go when I wear them..haha I guess I just love the way they look. I don't buy anything less than three inches, except my flip flops, which are about 2 inches..haha. I'm only 5'2" and I like the little bit of hit that it gives me.

P.S. Have you seen the high heeled sneaker shoes they have out now...hmmm? haha:)

To each his own or her own, especially when it comes to shoes.

The ones I have on today are about 2 1/2", but they're a solid heel and platform-ish sandal, so no teetering. I don't like skinny heels either. I have one pair for work and I always feel like I'm going to break my leg in them. I have boots with higher heels, but they're a more chunky heel. I probably don't go higher than about 3".

It really depends on the season. I'm short....errr vertically challenged....so I rarely wear flats. During the winter it's a minimum of 2 inches, usually more like 3. In the summer I still try to wear a high heel, but more wedges & platforms. Even my beach flip flops are a 2 inch platform LOL. But I do have a couple pair of thongs that are flats, & down the shore thongs are pretty much all I wear.

That's the shoes, not the underwear ladies. I guess thong undies are a topic for another thread. }(

I wear flats because I collapsed an arch and have biomechanically unsound feet. I consider heels torture devices designed by some diabolical man to objectify women and I don't care how pretty they make my calves look. Torture is torture. Besides, I too am clumsy.

I wear mostly flats (or negative heel Earth shoe; or Birkenstocks and Teva sandals in the summer and fall). The only heels I have are about 1 1/2" - 2" high.

I don't like heels. I only wear them when I absolutely have to. And they shouldn't be higher than 2 inches. I'm like this with dresses and skirts as well. Only when I have to.:)

Usually 2" - 3". But I will wear 1" also. I'm short, so it doesn't matter how high the heels are, I'll never tower over anyone. I'd rather be comfortable. I went through 2 bunion surgeries, so I tend to be a little more sensible with my shoes.

The heels i wear to work are about 2.5 inches. They are SO comfortable. Heels I wear out are 3-4 inches. But I rarely wear heels out, only for special occasions. I prefer my Reef flip flops and my funly colored nike shox! :p

We dress casually where I work - thank goodness - so during the week it's flat sandals in the summer, clogs, slides and boots in the winter. But for dressy and special occasions, I've recently discovered a fetish for very high heels, including some platforms. My Mom, who's shorter than I am anyway, hates it when I wear these. LOL

I'm 5'4", so a few extra inches is kinda nice.

i am a heelaholic - everything I wear has heels....flip flops, sneakers...everything. I dont own a pair of flats (except the sneakers I do aerobics in) Work shoes are usually 3 inches tho.

I love heels and even though dh and i are the same height barefooted, i still wear heels! most of mine are b/t 3-4 inches but i do have a few pair that are higher (which i don't wear out with dh cause it looks completly ridiculous) my highest pair are 6in. i have never had a problem walking in them. :D

Same here. I love beautiful high heeled shoes. I can't resist them.

All my Winter boots have a 2 " heel, but my new tall boot Sudinis are a 3" heel, which is as high as I can go, and only then because it is not a spindly thin heel. I can wear Summer sandals at 2.5" because they are wedges and so easy to walk in, being Danskos. But I cannot wear higher than 1.5-2" on a Summer heel or any shoe with a thin heel or kitten heel.

I abhor flats and only wear them as slippers around the house.

If I'm not wearing my 2" heeled boots in Winter I feel naked.
