Just did Slo Mo again- LOVE this workout

I forgot how much I enjoyed Amy Bento's Slo Mo Challenge! The leg workout is killer. If you are looking for challenging 3 day split, I highly recommend. I think this is a must own for advanced weight training.

YES! The 3 day split has quickly become one of my favorite workouts! I love it!

I found that after doing Slo-Mo for a few weeks and then going back to some of my Cathe weight work, I was able to heavy up. I think mixing up the moves between both Amy and Cathe works great!

I just got this (thanks Michele!) and I did legs on Monday night. I'm still having trouble walking. OUCH! Love it! I can't wait to try the rest.

I've been on the fence on this one for awhile, but I trust everyone's opinion here. I think I'm going to finally cave and get it.

I know it has been asked before, but how does it compare to Slow & Heavy, which is an absolute favorite of mine?

TIA, enablers!!!;)

i find it quite different then slow and heavy in that not all the reps are the same tempo count or even the same reps per set. where as cathe gives a certain reps in certain sets at the same tempo for most all the exercises. amy does go at the slower tempo but it changes on exercises(some may be up four down four, others maybe up four down two etc etc). the tempo is def. slower but nothing like slow and heavy IMO. and its hard to gauge since i only did slow and heavy from fittv which does cut out alot.

if you have netflix she has her extreme series and her first nrg series on there to at least try out her style.

Hmmmm, I don't want to mislead you. Slow and Heavy is more straight up weight lifting, no tempo changes, no "innovative" weight work. I find Amy's SloMo to be more of traditional weight lifting with a bit of a creative twist. You need a strong core to heavy up on the lower body workout. The thing I enjoy about SloMo is seasoned weight lifters can easily modify to a more traditional/"same old" move if one of Amy's moves are uncomfortable.

I'm in a SloMo week this week and I really appreciate some of the "different" than normal exercises like the cuban press for the shoulders and the incline front delt raises lying (or is the proper term laying) on a stability ball. Amy uses 8's...I can only use 5's and my shoudlers are SCREAMING!!! The leg workout works my leg/thutt area differently from other workouts. I just feel my whole lower body working instead of one part of my leg being fried. I think for some of the exercises, one may have to start out lighter than usual to get form down and to make sure the correct muscle is being worked then gradually increase weight load. I think SloMo is a workout to grow with and it's my favorite of her weight workouts. There are nice long clips on her site: www.nrgfitness.net

I can only use 5's on the front delt raises on the ball too! I do NOT see how she can do that move with 8's. Unreal! My shoulders are shakin' like a chihuahua after that section! Oh, and those cuban presses are my favorites. I feel so strong when I do those!

The lower body spit is awesome. I was good and sore after this one, although I did it after running 4 miles. Maybe not the best idea!

I love this workout!! I am doing a 1 month rotation with it. I used to not like the ab section until I practiced it several times, once I got the moves down and really focused on my abs, it has become a favorite.

I always forget how tired training slow and heavy makes me, oh and did I mention hungry. Guess I will go eat right now...

This workout is a keeper.

WOW!!! I'm in AWE that you could come in and do SloMo legs AFTER a 4 mile run.

Tomorrow I finish off my SloMo week with Bi's, Tri's, and Chest...

Yes, Amy's ab work takes some getting used to. Have you tried the ab section from HiLow Knockout? It has a kettlebell feel and I totally love it! She is filming Advanced Step Challenge 3 tomorrow and she is filming two 15 min. ab sections that will be separately chaptered on this workout...woo hoo. (She's using a kettlebell, I believe but will have someone using a db also). I'm probably going to purchase a kettlebell just so I can do this section on ASC3!

She uses a dyna-band for a few of the exercises... and she uses the PURPLE one -more resistance than the green.

I feel the urge to buy this workout, I've been resisting for a while but with all this talk my credit card is aching to be used again.

Would this workout be a good substitution for Cathe's Slow and Heavy DVDs? For some reason I just don't click enough with those to buy them.

I should not read this blog, because it just convinces me I need another dvd. I just ordered. I don't have slow and heavy but think this might be a good alternative as I wait for STS.
