Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for April

I want to respond to Stacy's questions but I'm not sure how much help I will be. I am also a meso body type and I gain muscle fairly quickly. There are times I do look bulky and I sort of think I'm getting that way now. However, I know women can't really get too bulky, so I'm not really worried about it. I'm just happy my muscles are showing again.

I'm walking on my treadmill only to help me get my steps in each day. I am trying to get 10,000 in a day and if I don't walk at least a mile or two on my treadmill, I never make it. When you are doing BB you aren't supposed to do much cardio so I may do one Cardio Coach workout a week but other than that, I only walk.

Just watch your calories and what you eat. I am eating way too many carbs but it doesn't seem to be hindering my progress. Luckily my body loves carbs and it seems to burn them fast. That being said, I still want to get more protein in because I need to. And that helps me with my abs.

I used to lift weights only and I hardly did any cardio because I hated cardio. Now I find I love to do both so I try to keep a good balance. My body responds well to weight training and I'm able to keep my definition by just lifting, but I do like cardio so I try to get some in each week.

I'm sure this didn't answer anything you asked, but this is what I do. Hopefully it helps some.

Hi Everyone!!

I haven't posted here in quite a while - maybe 2 years? Anyway, I still check in sometimes to see what everyone is up to. I was reading the past few posts and wanted to pop in an add some info on cardio. I also build muscle really easily, but shedding fat- that's another story. Over the past 7 months I actually decreased my weight training and increased my cardio, which has REALLY helped. I dropped 10 lbs - quickly- and have kept it off really easily. I do 4 hours per week cardio only (between HIIT, steady state aerobics, and walking/hiking). I try to do 1 day total body weights, and 1 day either lower body or a cardio/weight circuit. I also have REALLY cut out the junk carbs and increased my protein. I really miss the weight training, but it just doesn't seem to help me "slim down". I don't feel like I look bulky at all now, but I certainly look leaner.

Have a great weekend!!
P.S. I am still doing many of your rotations Deb!!! :)

Today I did Body Beast - Bulk: Shoulders again. I was actually able to go up in weights on almost every exercise in this workout. I worked hard and I know I'll be sore tomorrow. Felt great!!! I also walked 1 mile on my treadmill.

Tekmistic - Good to see you!!! Thanks for your comments!

Today I did XTrain chest back and shoulders with core 1, 62 minutes. I then did Les Mills Combat Kickstart 31 minutes. I finished off with 18 minutes of TRX Essential Flexibility for chest, neck, shoulders, back and hips. 480 calories Total

Thanks for your comments (don't mean to hijack your check-in!). I'll be starting BB next week. I'm sure I'll have to play around with what works best as far as how often to do cardio! Bottom line will be diet for sure unfortunately!

Thanks for your input Tekmistic.

Stacy, I am sure that you will figure out what works for you. Diet makes or breaks a lot of it.

Today I mostly wanted to work hamstrings and glutes. I did X Train Cardio Leg Blast Timesaver 7-12, 36 minutes, 211 calories. I followed this with X Train Legs, calves from the barre work, ball and chair, floor, and hip thrust challenge, then delt bonus, 44 minutes, 163 calories. I finished off with Calorie Blast Yoga strong body segment, 20 minutes, 57 calories. Total calories burned was 431.

Today I did Body Beast - Bulk: Chest again. I had a great workout and feel BEASTY today!!!

I also walked on my treadmill for 1 mile. I got a new treadmill this weekend, my hubby got me a new one for our anniversary (19 years!!). We joined Cosco's and got a great deal on it. I'ts a Pro Form and I can't wait to get it set up!!! He's the BEST!!!!

Stacy - Please feel free to join our check-in!!! We'd love to have you and hear how you are doing with BB!!!

Debbie, what a great anniversary present :D Congratualations on 19 years.

Today I did X Train Cardio Leg Blast with Core #2 mix and also added the 100 rep hip thrust bonus. Hoping to build up the glutes a bit. Total time was 84 minutes and calories 405 calories.

Today was Bulk Legs. Had a decent workout but some of the lunges bothered my knees so I stopped after a few sets of those. Upped the weights so that may have been the problem. Still felt it, though.

Have a great day everyone!!! Thanks Diane Sue!!!

Today I did X Train Hard Strikes Timesaver no conditioning drills and stopped at the stretch, 31 minutes, 180 calories. I then did Rockout Knockout TImesaver 2, cardio gloves, and heavy bag skipping the warm up, 28 minutes, 179 calories. I finished off with Yoga Max Express #1.

I did my first BB workout today! Build Chest and Tri's! I could barely move my arms afterward and it wasn't even arm day! I really liked it. I still fear getting "bulky" b/c I know my body type can do that. Even though they say women can't bulk. I don't care what term is used, I don't want to hypertrophy, just be a smaller, stronger me. I think (crossing my fingers) the answer for me will be clean diet, progressive lifting, some steady state cardio and yoga. I plan on doing the entire BB program but it will likely take me 6 months!

Today I did Body Beast - Bulk: Arms. Had another great workout. For the concentration hammer curls I just did regular hammer curls. My arms were burning doing it that way. I also got on my treadmill for .75 miles, didn't have time for more than that.

So the only complaints I have about these workouts are some of the exercises are done so fast. Like in this one he does the hammer curls extremely fast and for the weights those guys are using, I don't get how they do it so fast. I always go slower and then have to pause the workout for a few seconds. I don't get why they do that.

Hope you all have great workouts!!!

Today I did X Train Super Cuts mix 7 Extreme with Core 2, 73 minutes, 360 calories. I then did the 100 rep challenge hip thrusts and Great Glutes Bonus Chair legs/glutes, 14 minutes, 45 calories. I like the chair work on great glutes. It hits the calves and hamstrings/ glutes pretty well. For some reason the Barre work bonus on X Train legs bothers my knees in those low on the toes moves. Today's workout was 87 minutes and calories burned 405.

Stacey, good luck with Body Beast. I am sure that you will figure out what you need to do. Nice having you check in :)

Debbie, I always sort of liked the concentration hammer curls. They do move pretty fast for the weights they are using.

Today I did Ripped with Hiit Low Impact 1 Extreme mix both workouts 1&2, 51 minutes, calories burned 306. Ripped with Hiit Abs 1, 10 minutes, 40 calories. I finished with Slide and Glide Muscle Conditioning, no warm up, 27 minutes, calories burned 88. Total time 88 minutes, calories burned 428. I was wanting the abs from slide and glide. I probably should have forwarded through the upper body stuff as I have upper body weights planned for tomorrow. I guess I will see how I feel when tomorrow gets here.
Funny today, my grandson, 4, was watching me bounce around between intensity doing cardio and said I looked like I need to go potty. :D

No workout for me yesterday, I had to be at work at the butt crack of dawn.

Today I did Bulk Shoulders and had a great workout. Went up a bit in weights but it's really hard to do that with this workout. I also walked 1 mile on my treadmill.

I will go back and read what everyone has done later, I need to get to work soon.

Have a great day and workouts!!!

Today I did X Train Burn Sets Upper Body, 78 minutes, 340 calories. I had set up for some yoga but my grandson called and was coming over so, I stopped there. I love when he comes to visit. He had lunch with us before heading back to school.

Today was cardio, Focus T25 Speed 3.0, yesterday was cardio too, RWH low impact 1 and 2. got to get my cardio fix:)

Anyone take BCAA after workouts? I read they are good during and after workouts, is that just after weights or cardio too? There are many different brands out there to drink just wondering if any of you have used.
