I would be too.I'd be surprised if it's cardio - she's marketed them as being all heavy strength training workouts (which, however, can have a cardio effect.)
I would be really surprised for one of #3 or # 4 to be a circuit. Then it's still a mystery as to the 4th if it's a complete UB. A Circuit? Another TB - straight lifting, not metabolic? TB - endurance based? Hmmmm.... the mystery continues....![]()
I'd guessed in another thread that one would be an UB workout, and the other a TB workout that's not metabolic (more along the lines of, say, STS 2 Super Sets).
Please let us know how you feel. That was one serious LB workout! I've weaved it into my next rotation. Will be interesting if I have 3 days of DOMs again.
My thought on this is: Let's cross that bridge when we get to it.Then it's still a mystery as to the 4th if it's a complete UB. A Circuit? Another TB - straight lifting, not metabolic? TB - endurance based? Hmmmm.... the mystery continues....![]()
Personally I do not care for cardio. if I want all out or 70´% rpm, there are other cathe series to reach out for or I can make myself a mini circuit. No, sorry. It doesn't answer all questions lol! And let's not forget, the UB/LB/TB workouts in the series are using 5-15# Dbs as opposed to the 3-12# in the original LMR series - so it's only a little elevated! If the cardio follows the same idea - we may be seeing ZONE 2 cardio.
I bet you Cathe is laughing reading all our comments here.Lol! Part of the fun is guessing what may be in- store as you said here:
That's my guess as well as what I'm hoping for. Cathe has a few lower body only workouts, so I'd love an upper that I could pair with them or use with the lower body #2 that she just released. #1 was metabolic, so a total body that doesn't have as much emphasis on cardio would be nice. I can always use another total body workout - especially one that's on the shorter side side (40-45 minutes) for those days that I don't have an hour. I'd LOVE a total body strength yoga, but since these are focusing on heavy weights, I don't think that's going to happen. Somebody mentioned abs, but I'm hoping for a total body where she includes abs in it. I'm really really hoping for a complete upper body workout, because my collection feels "unbalanced" with more lower than upper workouts. lol I'd wondered about the possibility of a total body using just body weight? But then I remembered that she'd said these would be heavy weights, AND these are being released before her LMR2 (functional fitness), and there are a lot of body weight exercises that strain the wrists and other parts of the body. Since "recovering" is part of the series, maybe it would be difficult to have a body-weight workout that doesn't cause more strain than necessary to recover from? The mystery will continue. I am really hoping (no reason to believe it will happen - just dreaming lol) that she incorporates a kettlebell into LMR2 - at least for an ab workout. It seems functional to me, but I might be looking at it wrong?I'd guessed in another thread that one would be an UB workout, and the other a TB workout that's not metabolic (more along the lines of, say, STS 2 Super Sets).
I love cardio, but I don't enjoy it WITH my strength training. I am currently having trouble with lower body workouts due to the cardio effect they have on me, but even before... when that wasn't an issue... I've always preferred to really focus on strength by itself. I get a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment out of strength. Where cardio... it's more about fun. I don't have fun with metabolic workouts (my "fun factor" kicks in for kickboxing and step and that kind of thing), and I don't get that sense of satisfaction/accomplishment from metabolic, because it feels like I'm getting "too much" out of it to the point that I'm not putting into it what I would with a non-metabolic workout. I don't know how to explain it, but my ability to focus is hindered to the point that I know I'm not getting as much out of it as someone that can focus better during that type of workout. When menopause hit... my focus got even worse. lol So, I really like to stick with focusing on one thing (cardio vs. strength) at a time to guarantee I'm getting the full benefits from my workout.Personally I do not care for cardio. if I want all out or 70´% rpm, there are other cathe series to reach out for or I can make myself a mini circuit.
Really? But Cathe doesn't sell kettlebells and she has said she only will use equipment she sells to generate sales for her products.
She used to sell a 4# medicine ball with a removable kettlebell handle (purple and black). I'd always hoped she'd use use it in a video with the handle on. I have thought about trying to sub the kettlebell in for a dumbbell, but with it only being 4#, I didn't think I'd get as good of a workout. I don't want to invest in a heavier one, because I don't think I'd be confident using it without her and the crew modeling it for me. I probably should spend some time looking up technique and form for using a kettlebell. Maybe then I'd feel safe subbing one in. At this age... I worry about risk of injury. I guess that's why I thought it would be a great addition (even just as a bonus) to Cathe's LMR2. I think it could be a good way to ramp up the intensity of the HIIT and Low Impact cardio too? Since LMR2 is about functional fitness... I know she's do a good job of making sure we're using it safely in a way that benefits our bodies. Wishful thinking though.I'd like kettlebells incorporated too! And have asked. But Cathe does include some single Db swings that you can sub in a kettlebell in a few of her workouts. And you can sub one in core work where she uses a Db. And yes, ketllebell swings are considered to be one of the best functional exercises! But Cathe doesn't sell kettlebells and she has said she only will use equipment she sells to generate sales for her products.
I think you missunderstood my quote. I know about Cathe statement. I think we shall all settle the kettlebell discussion by agreeing that there will never be a series coming from catdotcom. In my opinion, not just because cathe is not selling the equipment. My understanding being there are various reason which include business profitability. BTW i do own cathe discs way back when she launched it. I believe I must have the discs and the cloth in my storage. As far as safety goes, they're no less safe than dumbells and barbells if you are trained in how to properly use them.
*raises hand* um - that would be me - lol. I don't want kettlebells. I've got limited space and don't want to crowd it up with yet more equipment. I refuse to get the FitTower, Barbell, giant round mat, or the Dip/Pullup bars because of this, too.Cathe may not have certification in kettlebells & may not want to use them cuz people who don't have them might complain that Cathe's workouts are too equipment heavy anyways.
