Freddy's Shoes?? Ever heard of them?

Wondering if anyone owns or has ever heard about Freddy's shoes? I saw them on the Hotskins site and they look pretty cool. I like the high cut Funk Aerobic shoe. It is a bit pricey but might be worth it if it is truly a good shoe. I think one of my instructors at the gym had this shoe on and I remember looking at them thinking "wow... wonder where she got those."

Any info. you guys have would be much appreciated. I am bummed because I just got my 2nd replacement set of Ryka's from RoadRunner and they are too small. I sware every pair of Ryka's I order fit differently. Even if they are the same style. The last one was too big. Now this one is too small and it is the same size! What the heck??

Hi FitNut! Yes, I own a pair of Freddys but I haven't seen them in probably 6 months since they live in the back of my closet. I thought they were pretty cool looking, too, so I spent the $80 and ended up with yet another pair of shoes I never wear. I did wear them for awhile at first but they never fit that well and doing aerobics in them was almost painful. Maybe the style you're considering would be different--I don't believe it's the same style I purchased.

I think you're right about Rykas fitting so differently, but when you get a pair that works for you nothing else compairs to them. I absolutely love mine and they cost so much less than Freddys. I'd say that Freddys shoes are good quality and they could be perfect for you, they just weren't for me. Hope this helps!

I wear them and love them. Why? Because I have a wide foot and they are made for that. Also, they have the impact technology system in the heel and they have significantly reduced the pain in my heels and feet. I am an instructor so I get them at instructor prices which helps. I cannot stand Rykas. Sorry but I find I just end up with one problem or another (with the fit or with the foot pain at the heel or bottom of the foot). I just recently ordered one pair of RYKAs because I could not wait for Freddy's to arrive from Italy (tried again and am not wearing them but will keep them around just in case - packrat). Some of the shoes have lazy laces (another perk in my opinion) which means slip ons.
I will not purchase shoes anywhere else unless I am forced to due to delivery issues (once a year they restock - around December timeframe so plan for it and order before so you can get over the 2 month period of out of stock and new models coming out).

Thanks so much for the input gals! I have little, flat feet. They are a bit wider at the front though.

Sheila - which ones do you have? Where did you order them froM?
Do you find enough support in the arches??? I usually need a lot of support there! Do you order a smaller size? I usually wear a 5.5 or 6 in tennies. In ryka I wear a 6. On the HOtskins site is says to order them smaller so Iwould probably order a 5?

It is just so frustrating because there are NO good shoes out there. It seems all shoe makers have just abandoned the market and went to the cross trainer! uggghhhh!!! x(

I am really fed up with Ryka and would like something different! The new Ryka's I got are making my feet fall asleep while working out no matter how I tighten them! I think I am going to send both pairs back! For the money I wasted I could have bought the Freddy's if they really are good?? I wonder if any stores carry them to try them on?

I wear a 7.5 in normal shoes and 8 in Rykas but I order 38 (size 7.5) in Freddy's.

I usually go to Freddy.com for ordering because I enrolled in their instructor program (which is similar to US Bodyware and they are the "USA distribution center" for Freddy).

The arch support I have not quite figured out yet. I feel like I need them but lately the orthotics feel like they are too much. I have to say that I really liked the Freddy crosstrainer (but not at first because of the lacing - until I managed to lace them better and then it was love). I think if your feet are falling asleep, that your toebox may not be big enough and Freddy's will solve that problem!

I have not found any stores other than online at US Bodyware (http://store.yahoo.com/usbody/index.html) and Freddy's website (www.freddy.com). I am currently using their hi impact cardio trainer ($89.99 with the lazy laces but they send you regular laces too) and Freddy Funk Aerobics shoe ($99.99 which has a flexible bridge in the arch area which could bother you but I have put an orthotic in it for arch support and they are very comfortable). I am looking at their Hi Impact Pro Trainer and may get those next time I order.

You may want to loosen the laces around the toe box area and tighten them near the ankle area and see if that helps you.

If you try them out, please make sure that you don't take the tags off first so you can return them easily. They will let you know their rules on returns. I have not returned any of mine yet. The crosstrainers I was not using but then I ran out of good shoes and could tell that my shoes were worn out and had to replace them so I used them and liked them. I have not worn the Rykas since my Freddy's came. I usually get 2 pairs so I can switch off from one day to the next (or sometimes from one workout to the next if I do more classes than one in a day).

Good Luck and if you try them, let me know how you like them. There was a time where I felt I could not do any more cardio because of my problems and with Freddy's and some orthotic support, I have managed to keep on doing my cardio.

Sheila

I think I am going to try a pair. Sounds like they will return them if they don't work.

Do you like your Funk Aerobic shoe or the cardio trainer better? I am thinking of trying the Hi Impact Pro trainer just as you are.

Also, how do I know how long it will take them? Is it always 2 months? Do you know if you get an estimate before you pay?

Thanks a million!

I have 2 pairs of the Hi Impact Pro trainer and think they are probably a little better for you than the funk aerobic only because of the arch support (though they are so comfortable and you can always buy some arch supports and put them in - like I did with orthotics).
It does not usually take them that long to ship. I did know better this year not to wait too long to order and the company shuts down for a couple of weeks/month near the end of the calender year. They have told me that they are going to have a distribution area in USA so this problem may go away in the future. This should not occur now because they have started their new year and have new styles. I do believe that you will know your total when you complete the order online.
Good luck!

Sheila - Thanks so much for the great advice! I just ordered the Hi Impact Pro Trainers in Black. I figure they are worth a try and I guess they can't be any worse than my Ryka's. I will return my 2 pairs of Ryka's and even have money left over! :+

I can't wait! I sure hope they get here soon!

I went to the website and it looks like you can only get them in black. Does anyone know if you can get white in any of the models?
FitNut, please let me know what you think of them. I am in the market for new shoes and I am having a horrible time trying to find anything with good lateral support and plenty of cushioning! My last ones were Reebok and I loved them, but they are worn out and they have discontinued them and I can't find anything even close!
Thanks!

Linda

I have those shoes in black and white. Just be careful of which ones you are looking at because some of the titles seem awfully close. I always need lateral support and they do have that as well. The cushioning is more like impact protection. I found that I could not use the Reebok (even though at one time they were my favorite!) because they have less durability in the heel area IMO.
There are two places that I order them from and Freddy.com may have the white version.

I used the Funk aerobics type last night for my weight training class and, at first, they felt a bit uncomfortable until about 5 minutes into the workout and then they felt great. I love the other kind however and feel those are better to order. Those also fit better about 5 minutes into the workout as well. I am not sure I understand why unless your foot expands as you workout but the shoes then fit like gloves almost.

Please let me know how you like them. They are, like I said previously, the only brand I buy consistently especially if I have the choice.

Really weird! I ordered my shoes yesteray on the Freddy site. I still have not recv'd a confirmation via e-mail? Is this normal? I can't find a cust service link on their phone #?

Hmmmmm..... hopefully they will come soon. I just hope they really did get my order:)

I had a problem with their website on one of my orders and called their customer service number 1-866-330--1338 (tollfree) to verify and found out that it did not go through. You may have to call them. They were really nice when I called with the same problem. Mention that you tried to order from their website and did not get a confirmation. You can also email them for customer service. Good luck.
Thanks
Sheila

Thanks Sheila, for all the info! This weekend, when I am not at work and have more time to look at the websites, I think I will order me a pair! Hope I am able to get them pretty soon and that it doesn't take a real long time for delivery! My feet are calling for new shoes!! They are starting to hurt!

Linda

I sent them an e-mail and got an e-mail back. They said they did get my order but didn't answer the shipping question. Then, I tried to call them and their phone and website say 10-4 are they hours, M-F. Not sure what time zone they are referring to though. I am going to call them on Monday just to make sure and confirm when they will ship.

IN the e-mail they did say the shoes were in stock. I ordered a size 5.5. I can't wait to get them. They look really nice!

I went to Lady Footlocker today and was going to decide if I wanted to try Rykas or go ahead and order the Freddy shoes. Well, I tried the Supra and tried the extra insert in them. They felt great. So I went ahead and bought them. But I could not believe the sizing! It is a good thing I did not order them online! I usually wear 8 1/2 or 9. She measured me a 9 1/2 - 10. But....the Ryka that fit was an 11! That floored me. I came home and tried them out with IMax 2 and they felt very good. But I am still very interested in the Freddy shoes!! Maybe in a few months I will order a pair of those and try them.

Keep us posted on what you think of them FitNut! And Sheila..thanks for all your info!

Linda

Hi there. Wanted to let both of you know I got a call from Freddy's and Bodyware today. I also found out they are one in the same! I talked with Lacy and then some other guy. They are sooooo nice:) I ended up ordering 2 pairs of shoes. The hi-impact cross trainers and the Pro Trainers. I figure if I don't like one I will send them back. If I like them both I might just keep them both for the variety!

Anyway, I guess they are 1 room away from each other and owned by the same company I guess. They did end up losing my order I placed on Freddy so they gave me free shipping. I had placed the 2nd order on BodyWare and it went thru fine. Good thing I followed up. So, looks like it is best to order from Bodyware as they have the best eCommerce system.

I just left a message on their voice mail and Lacy called me first thing this morning. I should have them by Wed. or Thurs so I will let you know what I think.

Sheila - do you think they will be alright for running or not? I just ordered a treadmill over the weekend. Wondering if I will need a running specific pair or if those will do? I have never been a runner so I am clueless in that area!

Yay! I am glad it went through okay on the second one! Wow, if you get them Wed. or Thurs., that is fast! I really hope you like them. I am really wanting to try a pair. I will be sure to order off of the BodyWare one. Good luck and thanks for the update!

Linda

I don't know if the shoes can serve as runners unless they are cross trainers. You can always try running in them and see how it feels. I am always saying never to do aerobics in running shoes but if you are on a treadmill it should be less impact than on the road. I would not take these shoes outdoors. They are not water proof!

I got my shoes tonight. Although I have not worked out with them they feel fabulous!!!! I got the high impact trainers and the new pro trainers! I definitely like the Pro trainers better I think. I will probably send the other ones back. The pro trainers feel amazing! They are like a Ryka shoe times 1000! There is so much room in the front of the shoe. Yet, you can crank down the ties and your foot doesn't fall asleep. They have these cool little knobs your shoe strings go around (like hiking boots) so you can really crank them. They have a ton of cushion and big time support all over the foot!

I can't wait to try them in the morning for cardio. I will let you know what I think. They are weird though as the heal is actually down a bit?? I am pretty sure that is the design though.

I do not think they will work for running at all. You can tell they are 100% made for cardio, step, kick boxing etc. They are fabulous! I am probably going to return the hi impact trainers and get another Pro Trainer pair:) They were definitely worth the extra $25 bucks! I really think I am going to LOvE them!

Thanks so much Sheila for your advice!
