Do you think Cathe is a secret to the rest of the world?

Cathe is mentioned quite frequently at www.videofitness.com . In fact, she just won the title of "favorite video instructor" over there.
I do wonder how people find Cathe nowdays, since her workouts are no longer in Collage catalog, and I hardly ever see her mentioned in fitness magazines. Just think of all those folks who haven't discovered her yet!

Well, I am doing my part...wherever I lurk or wherever I go and someone mentions an interest in fitness, I roll out the Cathe schpeel. I am on this hair care forum (needed help desparately because the sweat is wreaking havoc on my hairline)and there is a health and fitness board that is part of the site. I decided to post about Cathe and it got a lot of interest. That site, which has approximately 2000 registered members, had only one Catheite among them. When I worked, I did the same for colleagues. Hey, I should be getting a commission
Just kidding.
BTW, I found Cathe in 98 after becoming majorly disappointed with the videos in the stores. I was getting to a level where I obviously didn't need all that instruction and breakdown and constantly losing my heart rate. I found video fitness and the rest is history.

When we all start wearing our Cathe t-shirts and hats that ought to help with some publicity.
Do you also suppose that since relatively few people exercise in the first place and fewer are in the advanced group, might have something to do with the masses knowing about Cathe? Just wondering.

I would like to see Cathe get more exposure as she is fantastic and others need to know about her!A lot of people do not want to KNOW about Cathe because her workouts are so hard.
I had a yardsale - I put out a selection of exercise videos, Classic FIRM, Cathe's MIS, Rythmic Step, CTX Series, Denise Austin. The only tapes I sold was Denise Austin and I wasn't overpriced with $8 for Cathe's and the FIRM's - I got comments like - oh I don't like Aerobics, I don't think I should lift any weights etc.

Cathe markets to a select, target market. If you are an advanced exerciser or an intermediate exerciser who enjoys working out at home and wants a challenge, you will find Cathe. I don't think Cathe has the desire to be well known and in the mainstream. This way she keeps her little empire small and manageable with a personal touch. Instructors such as Kathy Smith are huge marketing machines with vast appeal to the novice exerciser and the general population.

If Cathe wanted to sell her videos and DVDs through Amazon, she could do so. If she wanted to advertise in fitness magazines, she could do so. She doesn't, so I think she has enough business for her organization to handle, and makes enough profit to keep making great new workouts.

I know..I use to think the same thing.I also use to wonder if there may be ANOTHER really good aerobics instructor out there who may be in hiding. I stumbled upon her when I was reading a fitness mag and they had rated BodyMax. I don't know why she isn't more recognized.Everyone and their dog knows about Kathy Smith and she isn't half as good as our Cathe....sorry Kathy fans I like her to but she doesn't come close to Cathes workouts...

I stumbled upon her when I was reading a fitness mag and they had rated BodyMax. I have to admit I'm one of those people who has never heard of Kathy Smith. Isn't she some gymnast? I went staight from Tamilee Webb weight training videos to Cathe. I had heard of Firm tapes but could never buy a tape with such a cheasy name like the Firm. I'm glad for the jump to Cathe videos.

I belong to our local fitness center , which is pretty large, and no one knows Cathe. Some of our instructors didn't even know her. I think they might be intimidated a little. I've been telling everyone who is advanced about her. We barely have any one interested in advanced step anymore, I don't know what happened. It seems since kickboxing became popular, step faded. In all fairness though, our kickboxong classes aren't too challenging. They are also the only fitness center in town.
So I am thinking of quitting and going for it at home. I am awaiting my first Cathe videos. Every clip I have reviewed is better than the next!!

Kathy Smith has been putting out workout videos since the late 80s. She just won the Lifetime Achievement award at IDEA this summer. Her videos are mostly intermediate level, and they have very high distribution (Collage, bn.com, Amazon.com, Target, video stores, etc.). I do wish more people knew about Cathe.

I always think that anyone who really loves workout videos is probably going to find their way to videofitness.com , like I did. Once you're there, it becomes obvious that Cathe makes some of the best video workouts. but it's true that aside from videofitness, there are not that many ways to find out about Cathe.
