BFL - TGIF - 4/11

PUB finally done! Wanted to push it harder, but couldn't do the 20# flies. Think I need to invest in some of those pace weights because I'm ready to move beyond 15#'s for them.

Glad you enjoyed reading the recipes. The dog does really likes the yogurt treats.

Quick run by today! Need to get everyone going and out the door. I'll catch up on personals tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great workout and a clean eating day!

Good Morning girls!

Today is B&G will bbl aftr th workout!

Sherry,High fives on PUB,15# for flies is great,im struggling with 15,but im doing 12.5's really good! I can't imagie doing 20#:+

ok,everybody have a wonderful day and I will bbl:)

Good morning Sherry! Great job on PUB! That's great you are increasing your weights! Have a great day today!

Amelia, ooohhh, have fun with B&G! That's a good one! }(

I hope Belinda's trek is going smoothly! When was she supposed to arrive? Does anyone know?

I will be doing an upper body today. I think GS Chest/Tri's and MM abs this morning and a super long stretch tonight. My 10k race is tomorrow! Starts at 8:30 so I need to be out the door at 7am! No sleeping in for me! I have never run over 5 miles at one time, but know if I can run 5 I certainly can run 6.2, right? Would you gals be kind enough to give me a few words of encouragement that I can take with me tomorrow so when I feel like I can't make it another step, your words will push me through?

Lets all have a great FRIDAY!!!

bbl

Sherry-do you own weighted gloves or ankle/wrist weights??? If so, you can wear either (or BOTH) of those things to increase your weights until you're able to either buy the Pace Weights or start using the 20s. With my 1# weighted kickbox gloves, and my 1.25# plate mates, I'm able to increase by 2.25#. If I added on ankle/wrist weights, I could then jump up by just .5 as well. Just a thought!

Stephanie!!! I'm excited for your race tomorrow! And YES YOU CAN run 6.2 miles! IF the little devil on your one shoulder starts telling you that you can't take another step......I will be sitting on your OTHER shoulder getting ready to drop-kick that little guy and whisper in your ear that YES YOU CAN!!!

I'm thinking of Belinda today, as she makes her journey!

My workout is DONE! P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris. And I've still got DOMS in my lats from Monday's Back & Biceps! LOL

Ladies....I need your energy and strenght. I'm not sure what's getting into me, but I went crazy with my eating AGAIN last night. I was perfect, dead-on all day Wed and all day yesterday, until we sat down for Survivor. It was just one thing after another before I FORCED myself to stop and go upstairs.

Sorry to confess that and run....I'll be right back after I get the kiddos on the bus!

Gayle

Good Morning,
Sherry-great job on PUB. I am just where you are. 15's are getting easy, but 20's are impossible right now. I am going to take Gayle's advice on the weighted gloves and ankle weights. Have a great day!

Hi Amelia, Steph and Gayle!

Gayle, I will be sending you some good vibes today. But don't beat yourself up. Is it TOM around the corner, are you worried about anything in particular, could your body just be craving something it needs??You ALWAYS get back on track so be easy on yourself. Have you watched I Can Make You Thin? I was really thinking of giving the tapping a try when I have the urge to binge..hey it surely can't hurt!

DD is feeling great today so off to school she'll go. Today LowMax is scheduled. BBL

Hey guys, I’m back from the busstop and started some laundry!

Susan-what is I Can Make You Thin??? a video? I haven't heard about it! TOM is not around the corner, but after some thought last night, here are my thoughts on this subject!

Now, back to my confession! lol I think a few things are playing into my regressing with my eating. A few weeks back, when I was having a temper tantrum about my training runs (anybody remember that? LOL), I was doing this same thing with my eating. Well, last night I was thinking about WHY I’m doing it right now. First off, I miss my long cardio sessions….my long Cathe cardio. I know there’s a place for HIIT, but I also believe there’s a place for the steady-state stuff as well, and that’s what I LOVE! I’m a self-proclaimed cardio junkie! iTreads are getting me thru all these training runs, but the running itself feels ‘limiting’ to me. Does that make sense? I miss the variety. I LOVE running and the feeling of running those longer races is something un-describable. But it’s the actual TRAINING that gets too monotonous for me. So, what’s the solution, while my half is just over 2 weeks away? Not so sure at this point, but I know I need to address it now or else I’m afraid I’ll just keep rebelling! I guess because I’m in taper mode, it would be okay to add in a kick box, or an all-step Cathe workout. And that’s what I plan to do.

OK…had enough of my soul-searching yet? LOL

Gayle

Gayle-Im sending you some good vibes as well! High fives for forcing your self to stop last night...i KNOW how hard that is!!! And what a great idea about the ankle and wrist weights,I will try that!

Hey to everybody! Still no workout, just poundering the idea of onex(, will be soon though!

I also wonder if Belinda is in the states now! I hope her flight was painless!

bbl

Amelia-what's onthe agenda for today's workout? Weights or cardio???

OK, meal 1 is done and so far, still clean! LOL M1 was 3 egg whites, 1 Tbs lite Miracle Whip, 2 slices lite toast!

Maybe if I post after every single meal, I'll make it thru this day! LOL

Gayle

Gayle, this is a lifelong fitness journey. In my eyes its doing what you love that will keep you going. That is why I had to change things up and do the Arpil rotation...which I am loving. Monotony will get you in the long run.
Oh and I Can Make You Thin is a show on TLC. Paul Mckenna is the host. Most of it is common sense, but he gives you tools to get past hard times. It comes on on Sunday nights. There have been I think 5 shows now.

Gayle, I miss my Cathe workouts too! I totally agree with you that you need to do one or more to get your fix. I think it's great that you actually sit down and listen to yourself...sounds like an easy thing to do but if you never do it...

Great meal #1! Keep it up, only 5 more clean meals to go today! YOU CAN DO THIS! Like you told me, I will be sitting on your other shoulder! Oh, and when I feel like eating and eating, I get on the TM and take a walk. It gets me through the "feeling". Try it!

S & S - THANK you for your input! I'm usually pretty good at listening to myself and figuring out WHY I'm doing something. My plan for today, after work...if it's not raining, I'm going outside for a nice FAST walk. If it is raining, then I am going to clean my house! And any time today that a food urge (unclean food, that is) hits, I'll clean something. Believe me, my house could surely USE IT! LOL

Gayle

Ok! Workout done! Those Drop Set Push-ups are KILLER! (GS Chest-Tri's) YOWZZA!

Where are the rest of you girls this morning? Busy day?

Morning!
Today I did a heavy BFL upper body workout + Amy’s In the Ring Med Ball segments (twice). I LOVE that premix….I can’t stop doing it, lol. It makes a great warmup that really gets my heart rate up. I had my HR monitor on today and it was as high as when I do Cathe’s 4DS Bootcamp Drills & Drillmax.

My plans for this weekend are to swim tomorrow and then do my last 22 mile long run on Sunday. The weather looks the best for that day. I’ll be so happy when I’m over that hurdle and into taper mode for the marathon. Oh, and last night I finally took my bike out for a 7.5 mile spin and it felt fabulous! My speed has really picked up since last Fall, I was able to go 14-15 mph with ease.

Sherry – I agree, using weighted gloves or wrist/ankle weights are a really good idea. Platemates are super but expensive (but well worth it in the end). Do you have a used Sporting Goods store near you? Maybe you can pick some up cheap?

Amelia – Enjoy B&G! I also hope Belinda is safely on her way or already here!

Stephanie – GO STEPHANIE! You’ll do absolutely fantastic at your 10k tomorrow, I just know it. :) Anytime you feel like you can’t run anymore, just think of us all there waiting for you at the finish line to cheer you in! I can’t wait to hear how it goes, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow morning! Go get ‘em!!!!!

Gayle – I think you have to give yourself permission to “not be perfect” so you don’t feel this pressure to BE perfect. There is no such thing, we all do the best we can. Doing what you enjoy with all your heart will give you better results than doing something half heartedly. Enjoy your Cathe cardio and mix it up......run a little and then do some step. Or run one day and the next day do some step or kickboxing so you feel like you’ve done your “plan” but now you can play. Variety really is the spice of life in exercise and eating. If you’re too rigid in either area, it just backfires. You only have TWO weeks left until your half marathon….c’mon you can do this!!!

Susan – I’ve turned the channel and seen that show on TV. Is this where he has this audience and he’s like a speaker? I’ll have to see if I can catch the re-runs when they show them.

Okay, who watched Survivor? Wasn’t that hilarious how Eliza tried to use that fake idol? LOL, me and DH were rolling!

Kathy

Good morning everyone. I caved this morning and got a coffee! I was in the drive-thru line before I even knew it..;-) I didn't have time to make my coffee protein shake this morning, which I'm sure led to my trip through the drive-thru. Oh well, could have been worse. I could have gotten a donut to go with my coffee, but I didn't!:7

Gayle - I can't say it any better than Kathy did. Sometimes you just need to cut yourself some slack.

Stephanie - good luck on your 10K tomorrow!!!

Sherry - I ordered some plate mates about a month ago and I really love them. Unfortunately, I only ordered one set not realizing at the time that I'd need two sets, one for each dumbell! I held off ordering another set right away because I wanted to see how often I would use them and I definetly use them enough. I just ordered another set this week. Once you get up to 15lb dbs, that jump to a 20 is just a tad too much for me.

Hi Amelia & Susan and anyone else I missed!!

BBL

Hello and good morning to you all,

Busy Bee this morning! Just finished my dishes, vacuuming 1st and 2nd floor. Now time for the baths. Today is major clean up before the weekend. I plan on working on the 3rd floor for most of it.

Today’s workout:
Something fun! No weights for me today! My whole upper body is sore from my workouts and also raking the yard into the late hours yesterday. I kept going and didn’t even notice that I was actually working in the pitch black! I guess my night vision had kicked in. ;)

Sherry: Thank you for starting us off today. Great job on PUB! I agree with everyone about getting pace weights or pace mates. I am using these and they work great for increasing your weights in smaller increments. The last time I did PUB I used 10,12 and #’s but like you I am ready to move up now.

Hello Stephanie and Amelia: Enjoy your workouts!

GO STEPHAINE GO! I will be there on the side lines routing for you. Don’t go out too fast. Pace yourself the first couple miles and then give it your all at the end. You can do it! Place a marker on the person ahead of you…pass that one and move on to the next. On training runs I do this with either mailboxes or telephone poles. It really works to keep you going.

Gayle: No problem….as women we tend to have these moments but distractions are the key. I don’t understand what is with these cravings other than maybe there is some vitamin your body is searching for. Did you ever see that science show that showed a man stuck at see for over 70 and what he ended up eating to survive? If I get the title to it I would highly recommend people watch it. It really gives an insight to the body’s workings and how it tricks the brain in order to survive difficult situations.
Anyway…we are here for you.
Great workout this morning with P90!

Hello Susan: Glad to hear that your DD is back on track and feeling great! Have a fun workout with LowMax. I have done this once and loved it the first time around. It is tough though!

Hi Kathy: Nice job! It will be raining all weekend here. 
I hope that you do better with your swimming. Are you going to get some advice from one of the swim coaches? Have a great run on Sunday! Exciting isn’t it to be coming into the end and closer to the marathon date!?

Hey Melissa: Have a great day at work! What are your plans for this evening’s workout?

Hello Michelle! Hi Belinda! (I hope your flight is on time. With all these airline cancellations I hope yours isn’t one of them!)

Have a great day everyone! BBL Heidi

Hey!
Workout done.
Hi Hiedi I love LowMax too. I hold a med ball during the blasts and that really adds to the intensity.

Melissa..HI...coffee with no donut is a victory! I have cut my caffeine down again. Today it was half decaf/half 1/2 caffeine. Its weird but I seem to have more energy the less caffeine I drink and don't get sleepy after lunch.
Where did you get your plate mates? I am in dire need of some too.

Hi Kathy!

I did my wo, studied for an hour and just vacuumed the house. After I eat lunch I will run to the grocery store and stock up on everything. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Quick check in ladies -- my bosses are keeping me busy -- but I HAD to post to Gayle...

I loved BFL - I felt great and enjoyed it. BUT, I had to tweak it...I like eating healthy popcorn with my shows (and NOT mixed with protein!!). I was enjoying the workouts - but the eating was driving me crazy. I couldn't be perfect.

After 8 weeks of NOT missing a workout - I only lost 3 pounds. I was starving ALL the time. Remember my night of 4 slices of pizza?? I out-ate my DH!!

I KNEW I had to change some things. Now, I am eating more of what I like, even it is isn't totally BFL. Also, for me lifting heavy really didn't work -- I was STARVING all the time.

So now, a little more carbs for me, a little less in the weights - and guess what? The pounds slid off. I started out the year at 116 and now I'm at 107. (Don't forget I'm REALLY petite.)

AND I have cheated EVERY SINGLE DAY! I don't have a cheat DAY -- so I make it up with something small every day. My gosh if you were perfect all day of course your body wants to less loose at night!! So, don't be so hard on yourself!!

I guess we are different and we need to find what works for each of us. Some of you lift heavy. Sorry, but I can't -- afterwards I felt like eating a horse!! And I'm eating a few more carbs - why? because it works for me -- and I really can't stand eggs or protein pancakes! har har!!

Don't know it this helps...
Michelle

Oh yeah -- and I tried to give up caffeine -- didn't work -- so I'm not beating myself up over it. AND since my DH and kids have a late night snack, I've been treating myself to a skinny cow ice cream sandwhich every night -- and to me I don't consider that cheating. Seriously - because it is the health"ier" choice!! And once again, it is better than a protein pancake! har har !!

Michelle

Susan - more energy the less caffeine you drink, that's awesome! And yes, I do consider coffee with no donut a victory. And the more I think about it, why beat myself up over trying to cut out coffee. In the big scheme of things is a medium coffee with skim milk & 2 sugars really all that bad? Especially if the rest of the day is clean?!

Michelle - you are the perfect example about making it "BODY FOR LIFE". You've adapted it to YOUR LIFE and look what happened! ^^^^'s to you girl, you figured it out! :7

Oh and Susan, I got my platemates from fwonline.com.
