Question about Platemates

Hi all,
I have some neoprene covered dumb bells, and some from Sports Authority that seem to have a "plastic" coating over the ends.
Does anyone know if the magnetic platemates would still work? And do you just stick them on the ends?
Or does it have to be metal on metal?

I have some neoprene and while they will stick, it's not necessarily safe b/c they CAN fall off. They are really made for the cast iron db's. Do you have Cathe's weighted gloves? You can use those instead!

I agree that they 'kinda' stick, but not so that I would feel safe with them for most moves (maybe for lat rows, where if they did slip, it wouldn't be too dangerous).
