Good morning,

Yesterday I did the yard clean up that I had planned, didn't finish, but got a good start. Our yard may be done by October and ready for winter! :)

Housemax and a workout today, hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

My brother from Arizona came to visit and is staying with us for a couple of days. He is the one that beat Pancreatic Cancer and we have had a such a nice visit. Been about 4 years since I have seen him. He really gave us no notice but happy he is here. I would have liked to have dusted more than I had!!! Lol!!! Tomorrow we are heading to New Bedford to spend the day with our younger brother. He will stay and I will drive back in the evening. Before I leave we will visit our parents gravesite. Will be the first time since my mom passed over 20 years ago that the three of us will be there together. His daughter is getting married in New York Labor Day weekend so he is here until then.

Been keeping up with my workouts ...yesterday I did several parts of different live workouts. Started off with the cardio circuit challenge and stopped at the core...then I went on to the boxing portion of Fitness Fusion then the firewalker portion of Lower Body Burn. Ended with Standing abs. Total time was 82 minutes and it was an awesome total body workout and actually a lot of fun. Not sure what I am doing today but I will fit something in.

I have several of Sue Grafton alphabet series on my kindle. I have heard they were good. Right now I am trying to learn Spanish again by using a program on an Audible. Comes with written material also. So far I am on lesson 6. I have a long way to go. Josie...I would love to be able to read a book in Spanish!

Judy...congrats with Meso 1! How is your back?

Valerie...makes complete sense to keep your equipment the same on both bikes. Never really gave it any thought but boy that certainly does make things easier. Looks like you just did a great ride. Awesome that you are more comfortable with mountain biking. It really seems grueling. I would be a slow poke coming down hill!

Lynda...hope the last Jacob's Pillow was great. Hard to believe the end of Summer is here. Went by so quick especially after the Winter we had.

Deb...nice the grooming is done. I am having Chester groomed when we board him this upcoming weekend. He really needs it!

Have a great day all!

Hi everyone--

This morning I did BarreAmped without the final stretch, so it ended up being 62 min. I think the final mat section is the toughest on this one.

Beautiful day yesterday for Jacob's Pillow. We saw an all-male group based in NYC called Madboots. They definitely have a political agenda--gay pride. Excellent dancers and a real change from ballet. A lot to think about in the second piece, titled "Sad Boys" and danced to a collage of music from every vein--Jimmy Hendrix, Pavarotti, the Beachboys. Overall, we were happy to see this new group.

Valerie, I caught some bit of news about high winds in the Northwest, downing trees. Maybe you can enlighten? It's always great when you feel like you are improving on something. I would be too afraid to even try mountain biking.

Lori, how nice for you to have a visit from your brother and a surprise family gathering. That's an incredible workout you put together. I wonder what Grafton will do with only two more letters to go--Y and Z. She takes about two years to finish each one and I just race through them when they come out. I already finished X.

We are going out to a Chinese restaurant for dinner tonight. Haven't been there in awhile because the last time was pretty mediocre. Hope it's better tonight.

Hi to Deb, Josie, and Judy!

One hell of a wind and rain storm. We were no power since early yesterday. Still no phone or Internet. I'm using phone tether right now. All ok but what. A. Mess. More tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

Valerie- I hope you get your power back soon. That sounds like a mess :(

Lori-It's great that you got so see your brother. It sounds like a good visit. Great job with the workouts too!
My back is starting to feel a little better. No more deadlifts or "low ends" for me, at least for now.

Hi to Deb, Lynda & Josie!

Have a good week!

Judy

Good morning,

Yesterday I did R/W HIIT Back, Shoulders & Biceps. There is a nice premix that does Ab/Core work interspersed in the workout. A nice relaxing weekend, no commitments and we got a lot done around the house and yard.

Lori, that is so nice that your brother came and you got a chance to see him and with your other brother as well. You need to start the alphabet series from the beginning. I bet the library has all of them in E-Book format and you can download for free, rather than purchase. My favorite thing to do. :).

Lynda, that dance sounds great. What do they call the type of dancing that they did? Hope your dinner was better than last time.

Valerie, too bad about the power, but at least the rain is good. I hope there was some where the fires have been.

Judy, glad your back is better....as for "low ends" I modify them all the time, the most I will do is 3 at once.

Hi to Josie,

Maybe meeting my cousin at the track, then if she has work for me in the office I will probably do that today,

Take care,

Power back on yesterday afternoon but still no phone or Internet. Lot of rain, helped the fire situation. We had wind gusts to 70. Blew our corn over! Blew our tomatoes over.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both low impact hiit workouts (50:08).

Deb, they are contemporary modern dancers. I'm sure they have some ballet training, but ballet calls for a very rigid vertical alignment, while contemporary allows for a lot of changes in level and flexion in the torso. Mixed response to the meal. We both thought the Szechuan dumplings were mostly dough, and the hot-sour soup had too much cornstarch, but our main courses--twice-cooked pork and shrimp and chicken in a garlic sauce were pretty good. I'm doing the ba, rear delts, and bis tomorrow. Is the premix much longer when it includes abs, or do you eliminate something?

Valerie, those winds are close to hurricane levels! Hope you get your phone and internet back soon.

Lori, I agree with Deb on the Grafton because they really proceed chronologically as well as alphabetically, and sometimes there is referencing to previous cases.

Judy, take care on your back so you don't activate the problem again.

Hi to Josie!

Looks like we are in for two more weeks of very summery heat and humidity here. Glad I'm not going back to school.

Lynda,

The premix I did was the full workout set wise, but minus the "finishers" and inserting abs/core work in between muscle groups. I think it is 48 minutes total. There is no cool down....a couple of lower back stretches after the last ab stuff...that's about it.

Good morning & Happy September!

I can't believe it's September already...the fastest 3 months of the year just went by. We didn't get home from class until after 10:30... I am barely awake.

Valerie, so glad to hear that you finally got some rain.

Lynda, I bet every September you just sit back and smile...none of those "back to school" activities to do.

Hi to Josie, Judy and Lori,

I may try to get in for a hair cut/color today, if I can stay awake!

Take care,

Things are more or less back to normal now. internet and phone came on over night. there are still a lot of people without power. this was a nasty storm. trees all had leaves yet so most damage came from branches flying off, mostly cottonwood and maples. a massive mess. it was predicted but not as strong as it turned out to be. wind gusts were clocked at 70 directly west of here. it seemed like wind gusted intermittently from all directions.... trees were whipping every which way. we didn't lose any, just some big branches. I wanted to get my hair done today but she still had no power as of last night.
we got significant rain, even east, and the fires are slowly getting controlled. think we're done with the worst of it.

I didn't do anything sat or sun when power was out. did x train bi's and tris and core 1 yesterday. I increased some weights, left some the same. when I record, I put down weight used. if it felt easy, I put a small "up" arrow next to the weight. next time I increase a little, then record weight used. a down arrow if it felt too hard. it's simple... shows progress. all is fine this morning. I am still going very light on cross body extensions on my right side and am doing "crazy dips" on a bench not the floor. otherwise I'm pretty much back to normal. I would love to know what this was but probably never will.

Lori & Lynda.. I've been learning mountain biking for 10 years.... as hard or as easy as you want it. maybe because I did so much road biking on skinny tires, the hardest part was getting my brain used to riding over obstacles that would stop a road bike in its tracks. I was so programmed to stop if there was even small gravel. mt bikes are more like ATV's that can ride over all kinds of 'stuff". ( my tires are VelociRaptors) I started with gravel roads and gradually ( very gradually) got used to rougher things. you might try renting a bike when on vacation. there is a lot of country boring to walk but fun to ride. goes faster and technically not hard. a whole different way to travel.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did ba, rear delts, bis (52:28). Thanks for the information on that premix, Deb. I really like the band work on this one for finishers, but maybe I will try that premix some time.

Deb, you are absolutely right about not missing all of the activities at the beginning of the school year. It really takes a couple weeks for everything to settle down and it was always anxiety-ridden for me. Another suggestion on Amazon Prime: Five days. I watched the first hour and was so enthralled with the mystery and the worry that I watched the second hour last night.

Valerie, happy to hear everything is back to normal again and that those terrible fires are under better control. I really don't think I will try mountain biking. Too afraid of injury. I love the name of the tires--the ferocious dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Good for you on getting back into upper body weight training.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a Spinerval and today I did Stretch Max and some core work.
I can't wait for the new ICE workouts to come out. I think there is an all floor leg
dvd that I will be making use of. Until then, I'll be using the workout blender to
put together some "back friendly" leg workouts. I feel like I am almost back to normal
now, but I'm not going to take any chances. I scheduled a massage for Thursday too.

Deb-I know what you mean! Summer has flown by. It will be fall and then the holidays before
we know it.

Valerie-I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you. Sounds like a horrible storm!
VelociRaptors are good tires! DH was talking about getting those for our bikes. I think we have
the stock Bontragers that came with the bikes.

Lynda-I'll have to check out Five Days, it sounds good.

Hi to Lori & Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

Wow, Wednesday already...this week is going by fast.

Valerie, wow, that sounds like a really bad storm. It's great that you are back to normal with your workouts. If you think that move: cross body extension did it, I would substitute something else.

Lynda, I still have DOMS in my core from that premix, and it was Sunday when I did it. Thanks for the info on Five Days, I had it in my Watchlist, but had not looked at it yet. Now that I know it is good, I will go back to it. I am on season 6 of Mad Men and still on Season 1 of Blue Bloods. I really like this one a lot.

Judy, funny that you are looking forward to the leg floor dvd....I am looking for the standing one. :). (I always skip the floor work in Gym Style Legs). I know that you are making sure you do stuff that is not going to harm your back....you also stream SB right?

What is everyone doing this weekend? Our club Obedience trial is this weekend, so Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will be at the arena. I am in charge of all the workers, and we are showing both dogs....this should be interesting.

Hi to Josie, & Lori,

Hopefully a workout, then we load the truck later this afternoon for the trial.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I went spinning early in the morning and then Karina came over at 10:00 yesterday. I was supposed to go spinning at 10, but I have to wait for an insurance adjuster to come over. On Sunday morning around 6:00AM our neighbors daughter from across the street plowed into our DD's parked car and caused a lot of damage.

My DD woke up when she heard the crash and looked out the window and saw the car right next to hers. She jumped out of bed and grabbed a towel to wrap around her bottom and ran out to see what happened, but before that when my DD looked out the window she noticed the girl get out of the car she looked around and tried to leave the scene, but her tire just got stuck under my DD's tire and could not move. Our neighbors also saw her trying to get away. The girl claims that she fell asleep, but she was clearly on something. This is her second accident on our street. The last time she backed out of her driveway at a high speed and t-boned a ladies car. If my DD's car had not been there she would have crashed into our neighbors large tree and probably killed herself.

Valerie, glad that you have power again and got some rain.

Judy, looks like you are back to normal.

Deb, we are going to San Diego on Friday and will be attending a concert in Temecula at the Thornton Winery to listen to Bonny James (jazz). We are staying at the Harrah's casino near the venue until Sunday.

Hi Lory and Garance!

Josie

Just something we are attempting to do in the garden, just for fun....we are also added dog prints next to the human ones...:D Yikes! I didn't mean for it to be so big!

Deb that is so clever! are the rocks glued in place? what a cool idea! I don't have an artistic cell in my body but I love seeing what others think of. we've just the last half season of MM to get through, think it's last half of #7. I think this is my least favorite series of the well known ones. there are little bits that seem brilliant and then there are hours of stuff I don't get at all. makes me feel stupid because it can't be that complicated. since you like police dramas, see if you can find Southland. I highly recommend it. I didn't care for Blue bloods much. tom selleck and one of the wahlbergs, right? didn't hate it, just didn't like it much so think we watched one season. I liked the first season of orange is the new black, but I'm sort of struggling with the second season. we will keep going with it but I seem to have a problem remembering the characters and their 'back stories" from season to season. same with MM. maybe the fault is mine for not remembering all the minor ins and outs of previous seasons.

we are getting ready to go on vacation right after labor day. a lot of kids are back in school already so that should help with the crowds.

this is one of those situations where "be careful what you wish for" applies. it's been raining for 5 days straight. guess we're over the drought for the most part, at least on the west side. Hopefully stream flows have come up enough to help the salmon get upstream to spawn. fires are getting controlled on the east side because even if not raining, temps are cooler, humidity higher.

Judy this is our second set of velociRaptors. we replaced our first ones a few months ago. I'm pretty sure the bikes came with these tires. interesting to see how much tread wore down. the front tire and rear tire have different tread patterns, something I never would have guessed.

Josie that is a real bummer. Hopefully your daughters insurance rates don't go up in spite of her having nothing to do with the crash. hopefully the driver will end up in a treatment program. 2x on the same street in front of her house is a pretty clear sign something is amiss.

Lynda, I'll look for 5 days on Hulu. so much good stuff out there, it's impossible to watch it all. we watched a movie last night that was wretched. Elysium. good people, bad movie. I got thru about an hour.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves (55:15).

Deb, that's a cute idea! You know, I seldom get doms in my abs, but in one of the BarreAmped workouts--maybe the Cardio Burn one--I did most definitely. I think I have seen most of the Blue Bloods episodes when they came out. I might try MM. I checked, and Southland is not on Prime. I just had to watch the final three days of 5 days last night because I needed to know what happened. It was very good. The actor playing the husband Matt was MLK in Selma. (Weird how sometimes the italics work and sometimes they don't.) Crossing my fingers for Keegan and Kylee doing well.

Josie, wow, what a thing to wake up to in the middle of the night! Are you doing some gambling at Harrah's??

Valerie, I keep waiting for the third season of House of Cards, and it just keeps saying short wait, and then I get something down on my list. I liked Orange Is the New Black a lot. The second season really has a lot of flashbacks to give you the back stories you didn't have in the first season.

Judy, I am impatient for ALL of the ICE workouts because I am in such a repetitive rut. I should go take a look at my collection and see if I can't mix things up a bit.

Off to the Clark with friends tomorrow to look at the Van Gogh's and Whistler's Mother.

Good evening ladies!

Missed a couple of lunch workouts. Last night was barre and tonight was Live metobolic conditioning.

Had a really nice visit with my brother. We planted some mums on our parents grave along with some kale as Haha's. My mom loved kale soup so the kale was for her. :)

He is visiting our younger brother then will head to Utica, NY for his daughter's wedding we are all going to this weekend.

Valerie...wow that was some storm!!! Were you able to salvage the corn and tomatoes? Hope so. Smart to wait after labor day for vacation. One of the reasons we like going to Mexico in October. It's hot but manageble, not a huge crowd and hardly any kids!

Deb...what a cute idea. Can't wait to see the doggie prints in with them. Love this! That premix sounds great. I love the circuit one I do that has the abs throughout. I am not sure which of the grafton books I have but will make sure I start with the first. Library is a great idea!

Josie...that is terrible about your DD's car. Hope it all works out for your daughter. So sorry to hear this. The concert sounds nice. I have only been to San Diego once over 25 years ago. My DH's parents lived there for many years. His aunt and uncle are still there.

Judy...glad to hear your back is well. I too am looking forward to the Ice workouts.

Lynda...I very rarely get doms in my abs but doing one of SB supported barre workouts a couple of weeks ago with the Cize workout really gave them to me. Wow! Enjoy the art!!!

Have a great night all!

Good morning,

It was so humid yesterday, almost like being in Florida.

Josie, that is horrible about your neighbor and DD's car! Did the police know she was on something? did they take her in? Good luck at the casino this weekend. :)

Valerie, no, the stones are just placed in the bed etc. I saw this on Pinterest. Does anyone go on there? It can suck you in for hours. Lynda checked and I guess I will have to wait and see if Southland comes on Prime in the future. :( Have a great vacation! At least the fires are not as worrisome now.

Lynda, Enjoy the Clark. How many episodes in "5Days" ? Is it just 5 shows or a whole season's worth? I can't take credit for the stone feet idea...but thought it was so cute I had to post it. We have all those kinds of rocks and stones, so we are going to put a few with added dog prints in our flower bed.

Lori, that visit with your brother sounds so nice. It's great that you got to do that with him. You have given me the "Mexico bug" maybe in February. I think you will be able to set up the book download from the library in a snap...our Tech-Queen! LOL. It's amazing all the books you can read for free, then give them back, no storage etc...without having to go to the library. Now, I am there once a week anyway, but love that I can get a new book to read at 8:00 at night if I run out of something to read.

Hi Judy!

A resting day today, not sure what we will do...I think we will go to the club and practice a bit with the dogs...

Take care,
