Hello everyone...I know Flax seed needs to be ground b-4 consuming...should I be doing the same with Chia seed? thanks!

No, you don't need to grind it. But it's highly recommended that you don't eat it straight, but add it to liquid. It can absorb up to 9 times its own weight in liquid, and can cause dehydration if not taken with enough fluids.

I suggest keeping a supply of chia gel on hand (mix 2 Tbsp chia in 1 cup water, stir thoroughly, let sit 10 minutes, stir again, ready in 10 minutes. Refrigerate). You can add this gel to smoothies or anything else without worrying about changing the texture (a smoothie with straight chia seeds added to it will thicken up in a few minutes) or dehydration.

I've also read that unlike flax, chia does not oxidize quickly, so it doesn't need refrigeration like flax (because of the high levels of antioxidants in).
