You people are just too special!......

Hi "gang!" :)

I received the card and "gift" about 45 minutes ago, but it's taken me 45 minutes to read and re-read both the card and Wanda's beautiful letter, which absolutely had me ROTFLOL in parts. "Sorry I made things so difficult for you! :)" And no, I had no idea of what was going on, I am fairly oblivious to most things and they usually hit me later in a sort of, "ooooohhhhhh, yeah" sort of way, so I knew nor suspected a thing! :)

But I thank you all for your card and gift which I will use to get something that I can use in my workouts and think always about how wonderful and supportive you all are every day.
I was speechless (not a usual state for me to be in!) while reading Wanda's letter and all the names on the card. It made me instantly reflect on something my father told me as a child when I got really upset while viewing the movie "Roots" for the very first time. (BTW, not a movie children should see without an adult present to redirect their feelings!), but I remember saying, "daddy, we should hate white people shouldn't we?" And he said to me, "sweetheart, you will find that for every 1 white person who will be mean or say mean and ugly things to you, there will be 3 or 4 more white people, who will not only not agree with what was said, but be ready to tar and feather that white person for saying it!" "so no! we don't hate white people or any people because it isn't the color that makes them wrong or ugly, but what they say, and any person of any color can say mean, ugly and hurtful things, never forget that!" "we feel sorry for those people who don't understand as we do, they just haven't been taught any better than that, so feel sorry for their ignorance and glad that you were loved enough to be taught better!"
For all the messages my dad ever tried to instill in me and I blew off as kids do, that is one conversation that for whatever reason has always been with me and I passed on to my own girls just as he said it to me.
And he was right, as I've learned time and time again throughout my lifetime, especially after moving to a small community from the city, but this out pour of love just completely illustrates what he told me so many years ago. That 1 woman, with her 1 word, has flooded my life with so much love and warmth and positivity that her email means nothing to me except that it caused me to become just so much closer to so many more people, and her 1 hateful word inspired 100's of loving words, thoughts and feelings.

So thank you "gang" aka "friends at Cathe's." You are all very special to me too, and I will NEVER forget this experience and how loved you've made me feel. :)

Love,

Donna

Couple o' things have been made very clear throughout this episode:

What goes around comes around, and one cannot be as cool as Donna and not inspire a lot of love and respect in return,

AND

Don't *&^% with a Cathe-ite.

Soooooo glad to hear your Dad's lesson. How powerful! Donna, the card and Gift Certificate is so minor compared to what, not only you, but us also, have learned from this experience. It was just a lil' something to show you how much we appreciate all YOUR support and encouragement here. You're a sweetheart and we are glad it made you feel loved. Exactly everyone's intentions here! Enjoy and share what Cathe-Gear or fitness equipment you pick out!!!!:7

Sounds like your Dad was pretty special too.

Has James been to the garden stores looking at all the Miraclegro and plant supplies yet? LOL

Enjoy your gifts and know you are loved.
Hugs

I hope this teaches the evil minions of the world to not mess with Donna ever again! Or else, or else, we'll have to buy her a Mercedes or something. :p

You are a VERY special Donna. :) I have had the dvd of Roots since Feb. 2002 so I could show my kids. They haven't seen it yet. The reason why is me. I will be right next to them when they do watch it. There will be many questions I'm sure. I was in high school when the mini series first came out. As a teenager I was very angry. A must see for my children though. It's history.

Although I didn't know anything about a card, I am glad you received it.

Donna, you're a special person and what a neat dad......now when can we start helping you spend your money :D :D :D .....how about the new DVD's, or a Bosu thing.....that sounds kind of interesting, or multi colored Cathe baseball caps, or how about those little incremental weights that you attach to your dumbbells, or weighted gloves, or wall paper for your workout room, or maybe a tshirt that says "Don't mess with Catheites - we have massive arms with bicep veins (well, some of us who choose to remain incognito do }( ) and we'll pound you".

Miss Donna, as usual our A-jock has said it exactly right, and I'm just chiming in to say "me too." ('Specially that last part about not &!#%$-ing around with a Cathe-ite...)

You clearly had an amazing dad, and you clearly are (among other amazing things) an amazing mom. I'm so glad we're privileged to have you with us here. And glad you loved the little surprise. :)

Hey! Enjoy! I think Aquajock said it best....don't mess with a Catheite....or her friends. You are a remarkable person Donna, don't ever forget it. But don't worry, cause if you do we will all still be here to remind you! Donna the Piglet

A-jock...................

You know what feels cool? I love that my new "do" makes it hard for people to figure out how old I am! I get more people telling me they thought my daughters and I were sisters (my girls don't like it, but I grin like an idiot every time I hear it!):)

Have you grown accustomed to your new look? Do you do anything "special?" My head has been 3 different colors since February! :) I'm still loving the freedom and the wash-n-go lifestyle!

Wanda..................

Yes, James has purchased the Miracle Gro and I've been forbidden to care for "our" plant as I have a "black thumb" (yes, pun intended) and kill every plant we've ever had, so he's in charge of "our" plant!

Your letter touched him so much. He's not a "mushy" sort of guy but I swear he got choked up when he read your letter! :)

Thank you so much! :)

Thanks guys, I'm still very blown away by all the love and positivity that has erupted from that 1 negative email! I think it's true that good can come from even bad situations, because not only have I been blessed with the out pour of love from you guys, I can tell everyone has reflected in their own way on this whole ordeal and each of us have been somehow touched.

Life can throw some curve balls, but sometimes they turn into "bouquets of flowers" before they hit you! :)

Thank you all! :)

Donna,
Hope you enjoy your much deserved gift. It is always fun being able to go out and pick something new. I don't know how it is for you, but I always have a hard time trying to decide which item I want most.:7

RE: Donna . . .

Right wicha, sistah. After that week-after-the-buzz freakout you promised me, I've grown to love the bald look. In fact, some fellow Twin Cities Cathe-ites and I who have come together to form The Killer Bees (Four Blonds and a Baldie; note that our own Maribeth is also a Killer Bee although she's a Florida gal), got together at Ruby Tuesday's last month to Talk Cathe and we had a group photo taken, and if I do say so myself I love how my part of the pic came out!

Plus, it's a clean look! I don't do anything special with it; I'd guess that less than 15% of my follicles are still producing hair but that 15% grows like it always did, so I do have to do a scalp-shave every a.m. But man . . . it does indeed look cool. And it's a very low-caloric-expenditure conversation starter!

Baldness - it's a trip, not a death march!
