X Factor Turkey Day

Hi Girls.

Okay, I'm starting the thread but I have a feeling I'll be a very lonely girl here today! :(

So today calls for step blast but I'm not doin' that. I'm going to try to get my arse to the gym for a run. If I don't make it or don't feel up to it, I'll probably do another Turbo Jam! :D

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Forget the clean eating, forget the diets, forget the calorie counting and and the maco-nutrients. Forget fitday, calorie king and ofcourse, Cathe's nutrtion program. Forget about it ALL and just EAT what makes you HAPPY! :D:D:D

On that note, I'm outta here...!!!:)

Nope, ain't gonna leave you alone here, Wendy ;)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and to all who stop in here today! This is my absolute favorite holiday! It's all about family (and food!), so what's not to love?

Wendy, you're ambitious today going to the gym. I have so much cooking to do before one o'clock that I'm not sure I'll get any workout in at all. I am hopeful, though. Haven't written it off yet! I did get a chunk of the prep done last night, thanks to the boss closing the office at three yesterday and letting me get a head start. So what are you doing for dinner?

Yesterday I did 4DS Bootcamp and Bis/Tris...really loved that one, too! My triceps are very sore today. I'm thinking that if I do manage to fit in a workout this morning, it'll likely be cardio. A little pre-dinner damage control ;)

Okay, off to start my sweet potatoes. Will be checking in later to see if anyone is around. have a fantastic day everyone!!

Jen

Hi Jen!!!

Yummmy...I loooove sweet potatoes! Good stuff!!! :) So you are cooking today? I'm not. :p My house is too small to do a holiday in so I never have to worry! LOL I am going to my inlaws for dinner. We will be leaving here between 1-2 this afternoon. I'm bringin' a bottle of wine so it'll be a fun time! :D

Yes, I am cooking. And so is BF. This is our first Thanksgiving where we're hosting together, and both being kinda control freaks, neither of us was willing to relinquish command over the dinner. So I've got a bunch of dishes that I traditionally prepare, and he's got a bunch of dishes that he likes to prepare, and we're just going to serve them all! Literally, I think we've got 10 side dishes between the two of us, plus the turkey and stuffing. And I think we've got five desserts! We're only serving 12 people  (four of which are kids!) I forbade the rest of my family from bringing anything but wine :p so there should also be plenty of that! I've got a plan to send people off with leftovers so we're not eating them for the next week.

I hear you on having the house that's too small. I'm so looking forward to getting into a bigger one with BF in the next year or two so I can comfortably host these types of thing, because I really LOVE doing it. My family has made it tacitly clear that they do not want to come to my house because it's too small  so whatever... BF's apartment is actually bigger than my house, so we're having it there this year. Not totally convenient for me, but definitely doable.

Did you manage to get to the gym yet?

Hi Jen.

My work out is done. I ran 3.54 miles with Grace and am now rewarding myself with oatmeal and a cup o' dunkin donuts coffee. :)

LOL about you 2 being control freaks so you are cooking EVERYTHING! That's gonna be some feast! Speaking of feasts! My DH's fam is italian so they serve an italian dish BEFORE they bring out the whole traditional turkey meal. By the time I eat the italian course I am stuffed!

That's not very nice that your fam won't come to your house cause it's too small. Mine will come and deal with it with a smile but we hate doin' it to them (and ourselves!) so we just have occassional smaller scale dinners that we will invite them to just to have them over. Thankfully DS was born in May so his B'day parties are outside. It works well. :)

Well, I gotta jet....I'm not entertaining but I have a decent amount of stuff to do before we leave anyway!

BBL if I have time!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Happy thanksgiving X'er buddies!!!

my plan was to go to the track today. my running buddy bailed so we will see if i get to any workout today. my legs are still sore from GS legs the other day:eek:

wendy-nope you are not alone today. you are so good getting to the gym!! I am with you today no calorie counting or anything of the sort. i can't wait to devour all of the yummy foods we are having today.

jen- lol re: your and BF being control freaks. both me and my hubby are cooking and it's hard to be in the kitchen with the both of us.

we are hosting thanksgiving but everyone is bringing stuff so we don't have to do alot of the cooking.

i just love the holidays when family and friends come together for good times and good food.

I can definitely say I am truly blessed!!

Have a most wonderful day to all of you. I am happy to have "met" you as we share something so important...we are all thankful for our health:D

Enjoy,

Happy Turkey Day Girls!!!!

I was just heading down for a cardio w/o when my sister calles. Needless to say we chatted for about 30 minutes. Well that call put a damper on the 90 min cardio I wanted to do so I'll be doing step blast instead. Hopefully I can get a longer w/o in tomorrow!

I don't have to cook. I'm responsible for some desserts and the relish tray. I made a low cal lemon pie and will be making some brownies with frosting!!! I can make more but I don't know if I'll have time before 1pm.

Wendy-great job getting your run in this morning!! You are the leader of the pack!:D

Jen-sounds like your enjoying your new w/o's. It's great that they are short enough to squeeze in, but are so very effective! You'll have so many new dishes to try which sounds like fun.

Dee Dee-Sorry your running buddy bailed, but it is a holiday and is completely understandable. My trainer had a makeup class for us yesterday and we ran stairs (with weights) one of my favorites, and track running.

I need to get my workout started or I'll be outta time.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !!!!

Happy T DAY ladies.

Well I apparently 'attempted' a post last night but for some reason I am not seeing it this AM.

No workout y'day for me - ended up with the doggone allergy headache and had to work so after work I took a hot shower and ran the water over my head. Helped a bit - had a hockey game to go to. Not too bad and I am thrilled that today I feel just a bit of a cold but no headache ! Thank goodness as I have a few things that need to be cooked today for dinner at SIL's.

Will see how much prep I get done this AM so I have time for a little cardio - not sure if I'll to a TM fast walk with hills (and watch another hour of 24). Oh yes, I did get a run in night before last and it was great. Did 3 miles with alternating 5 min runs and 1 min walks. Went for 35 minutes. So need to get Season 6 of '24' done before they start up again.

Wendy - LOL'd at you poor thing coughing when it is supposed to be quiet. It helped for me to elevate while sleeping. Not as much coughing lately.

And I'm in agreement with you - last night my 'phantom post' was that we should not post about eats but only about workouts for this weekend. We can be accountable for eating starting on Monday ! :p Nice you got your run in. Have fun at IL's and enjoy the CAB's !

Jen - sounds like you and BF will be seeing how well cooking in unison goes, huh? We go to DH's family and end up with about 25 people and food for 50 so we always do the "Day After" leftover dinner for Tday and Xmas. Nice to have most of the leftovers gone that way and we can then have little tastes of more dishes too. I remember the first year it was at my house, which holds the 30 - 35 but it is squished. I bought the gladware bowls and everyone had a couple to take food home with them. Enjoy the day !

Dee Dee - we share in the cooking too which is so nice. Even bringing a few things keeps me in the kitchen for long enough - but I do love cooking so no complaints !:p And when I do it myself I 'know' what is in it which is even better !:D I remember having the long time DOMS from GSL last week. Sometimes those workouts make me feel like I am out of shape though I know I am not. Good in the long run, huh?

Agreed that this is a very great group to belong to and to share life with. Thankful blessings from me too.

Diana - how nice you chatted with your sister already. Workouts that are shortened are worth family ties in my book !;) Lemon pie sounds refreshing during these dismal days. Hope your workout was a 'blast' anyway and you enjoy your TDay too !

Laura - was happy to hear the other day went better than expected and at least it is over. Woo Hoo on DH being home all day today - will be very nice for you both after the past month ! Hope all goes well at your house today. Enjoy !

Angie & Shirl - Happy day to you if you have a chance to pop in. :D

Hiya everyone!!

Just thought I'd ROLL in here to wish everyone a good night. Hope everyone had a fantabulous day today with your families!

We had a great day, but with way too much food, as predicted. That's part of what the holidays are about, right?

I got in a quick cardio workout this morning. Decided on the Mixed Cardio premix from Cardio Fusion, which turns out to be the drills from DrillMax. I've never done that one before and was surprised by that. I actually thought I'd just get in a light cardio workout to loosen up by choosing the 42-ish minute workout, but notsomuch  It was a very good workout.

Off to digest :p That's going to take me about three days! Ugh, I feel like a stuffed pig!

Good night all~

Jen
