X Factor Post Race Monday...OUCH!

Fit_mommy

Cathlete
Hey Girls.

Thanks for all of the great race vibes y'day. I really appreciate the support. :)

The race could have gone better but I am still happy with my time.

TTOM proved to cause problems for me...the details of which I will spare you from. ;) Let's just say I was uncomfortable and could have finished atleast 5-10 minutes sooner had I been TTOM-free. Makes me mad but there is nothing I can do about it. :(

My finish time was 3:30:02. My goal time was 3:30 so I am happy cause I nailed it! Again, had TTOM not caused "issues" I could have BEAT my goal but nothin' I can do 'bout that.

So today I am very sore and have sunburn too. The weather was gorgeous but the sun was very strong so my back and shoulders are hurtin'. I meant to put sunscreen on but ran out the door w/o out it. Shame on me.

I took today off of work to recover. I'll probably take DS to the park. He can run around and I can SIT and watch. ;)

BBL!

Wendy, AWESOME job!! You're my new idol! Gotta admit that I cheated and snuck over to the Cheetah thread to read your report, and just gotta tell you that you should be SO proud of yourself and your performance! You had some nasty physical issues you had to push through, and you did! High fives to you!!!! So....is it crazy to ask? Still looking toward that full marathon  ?

Yesterday I did Bryan Kest's yoga, the second workout of the three. I really liked it. It was tough, but doable. There were a few poses that I was pretty wobbly on, but I modified if I needed to and it turned out to be a great workout. I was feeling a little DOMy before starting, and it seemed to work the soreness out. (For a while anyway, because I'm back to being a little stiff and sore again today.)

Today's a day off from work for me, thanks to Mr. Columbus, so I'll be popping in and out between housework and errands. Haven't decided what my workout will be yet, but I'll be back later to post.

Hello to everyone!!

Jen

Hey Jen!

I'm glad you checked out the report on the Cheetah thread. I really should paste it over here too. I'll do that once I post this. Thanks for the support. I don't think my running would have come this far without the support of my Cathe forum friends. You girls are da bestest! :D
So you liked Mr. Kest? I tried him. I hated him. I sold him. LOL Oh well. He is very popular so I am just a wierdo I guess. :p

Enjoy your day off!!!

Ok girls...you can thank Jen for this...here are the gory details!:D

The course is georgous. Most of it was a straight shot up the main drag of LBI. It only took a couple of slight turns right at the end of the course. It ended near the light house that is at one end of the island and apparently you are supposed to run up the light house steps when you finish the race. Um...no thank you! To my surprise, Shelly did not do it either. I thought for sure that she would! The sky was clear-not a cloud to be seen-strong sun. Temps in the low 70's. The breeze through the ENTIRE course was AWESOME. Definately a beautiful day. If the breeze were not there perhaps it would have been too warm but that breeze made a a world of difference.

As you all know, it's TTOM for me. Well, it proved to cause problems which makes me mad cause I could have finished sooner if not for that! I am prone to bowels that don't neccessarily cooperate when I have my monthly and y'day was no different. I had to stop 2x on the course to go. I stopped my garmin each time. We lost almost 8 minutes because of that! Not to the mention the fact that my belly was bloated and felt uncomfortable during the entire race pretty much. UGH.

Given the above issues I was unenthused to consume alot of the clifshots I had with me and was also a bit weary of the endurolytes wondering if either would create worse tummy issues for me. I used them but I didn't consume as much as I should have. Yes, somewhere around mile 11-12 the leg cramps started. They were mild at first so I downed a couple extra endurolytes to try and combat them. By mile 15 I was in a lot of pain though. Perhaps the outcome would have been no different even if I DID consume the planned amount of clifshots/endurolytes-I don't really know. Anyway...the last 3 miles were not fun and Shelly did everything she could to make me laugh and get me through it. :) That "rope" really came in handy!:D

So anyway, my finish time was 3:30:02 with an average pace of 11:00. My goal was 3:30 so I am VERY happy with that especially considering what I was dealing with enroute. My DH was at the finish line snapping pics of us. I will post a couple later today.

Post race I spent a while stuffing my face and drinking gator ade and water while walking around and stretching to get the cramps under control before heading home.

This morning I am sore sore sore with sunburn too. I meant to put sunscreen on but never wrote it down on my to do list and therefore never did it. My back, shoulders and back of my arms are pretty toasty looking and they hurt. :(

Good morning all !

Got my MM in this AM. Sometimes I wonder why when I did Alwyn and P90X that Cathe is always so tough? I feel the others make me strong but I just can't always keep up with her when "I get back".

Was a good workout - and have had 32 oz. of H20 so far . . . Not sure if this is going to be our challenge, but think I will work on it anyway ! ;)

Back for personals when I get my break.

TTFN

BUT congrats Wendy - I took a quick peak at your original post - can't wait to read the longer version. :p

Hello X'ers!

wendy- congrats, congrats, congrats!! you did it girl:D you are one awesome chica!! i am so excited for you. sorry about the issues but you rose to the occasion. ms. shelly is a wonderful person. ok so when is the full mary:D

jen- enjoy your off day!

jacque- to answer your question it's because cathe is more endurance based.

ok, off to drink more water... everyone is going to be wondering why i am taking so many potty breaks today..lol

this morning i did itread 60 min runintervals and i am about to head off to work arms with dh! oh i can already feel the DOMS, yea baby:D:D:p

Morning Ladies

before any personals... CONGRATS WENDY .. WTG!!!:D:eek: GREAT time .. and all the "issues" you were encountering you get triple kudos for keeping on keeping on and busting out and AWESOME time!!! (I have the same issues w/TTOM.. not fun) I am so proud of you girl .. I knew you could do it .. but you are the supreme running CABBER of the group .. WOO HOO!!!!:D

Our long weekend was AWESOME!!! :D We had a wonderful trip .. and played slots, roullette, and dice .. I was loosing to start with .. but got on a huge PENNY wheel of fortune .. put $20 in and played down to SEVEN CENTS .. and hit the 5000 .. and won $250 .. ... You would have thought I won a million .. I was jumping around like an idiot .. DH got embarrassed I was making such a fuss ... LOL  OH well .. that made the trip for me ... needless to say the clean eating was no where around .. and in fact you dont even want to know how much this gal ate  and the CABS were flowing too!! but it was FUN!!! They were having a huge vintage car/truck show down there .. we saw some awsome vehicles .. unbelievable .. it was interesting!!

So ... when we did get home .. it was clean max .. and fall decorating .. the house looks awesome!! but the w/o's were null and void .. so today I am back to clean eating and kicking some ARSE in the exercise catagory!!!:D:confused:

The X-factor challenge: water consumption ... :D ... OOOOOHHHH gotta tell ya .. I am an expert at this ... thanks to my chronic kidney stone problem ... the only liquid I consume is water and ONE drink (usually a sprite) at lunch!!! (and the CABS but that would be negative right?...dang it) So I usually drink 2 bottles (16.9 oz) in the morning b-4 I leave 4 work .. then I drink 2 before lunch - then probably 3 or 4 after lunch - not sure how much during working out .. then probably 2 more at home and one huge glass at night . . yes I drink all during the night .. and yes I STAY in the bathroom!!

OK .. it is busy and I have to leave for lunch .. but will BBL for personal!! Have a great day!!:D

Thanks Ladies! :)

I took DS to the park this morning and now we are getting ready for lunch. After that I will put him down for a nap and perhaps take one myself. No work out for me today!:p

BBL for personals!

Totally crazy here at work today but had to pop in to say this water thing is both good and bad . . .

Have to go to the bathroom tons more, bad, my legs are so sore from the other day and this AM MM, good and bad, then going to the bathroom means doing the stairs each time as I work on the 2nd floor and the bathroom is downstairs. I guess that is good & bad also.

Just felt like complainin' a bit and knew you'd all listen !

OK - off to do more work - hoping to get back during lunch break.

And since it is soooooo coooolllllldddd here this AM, my water is hot water ! :p Figured it is better than coffee which I usually drink to keep warmer.

TTFN. . .

Wendy .. you deserve a real rest day!!! Take that nap guilt free baby!!!!

Jacque .. LOL .. about the water - stairs and pottie!! Well heck .. added calorie burn for so many trips up and down the stairs is ALWAYS a good thing .. and you get a bonus leg burn if you do it quickly ... some of my contract files are up stairs .. and they asked if I wanted to move them .. said no way .. that was my extra little calorie burn during the day!! :D It's cold where you are?? Man it is once again 84 degrees here .. no sun .. humid .. and dreery!! :( supposed to be in the 80's all week .. then NEXT week turn colder!! Just bring back my sunshine!!

Di .. was glad to see you back ... so you got to see the grandbabies yet? Excuse me if you already said .. I did read back but did a quick read. Sorry to read about SIL .. that is terrible .. I pray they find it and get it out ASAP ... w/minimal envasiveness!! My friend is back in TX .. getting radiation this time .. but still in good spirits .. bragging about her peach fuzz hair!! :)

Ang .. our leaves have not turned yet .. grass is still green and I even have roses blooming .. I cant wait for the pretty fall colors!! Gonna get some good pictures if I can!!! Were you the one that said you may get snow??? or was it DI???? OH MY .... too soon for snow ... I just want some fall temps!!! lol

DeeDee .. thanks for the w/o info ... gonna have to figure out the lingo on some of them .. but may give it a shot!!!

Jen .. I like Keist's yoga too .. but prefer Byron Baptiste over him ... Keist's seems to hold the pose forever .. therefore enducing the dread factor for me .. there goes the exercise ADD thing again!!! LOL

Shirl .. hope you are having a great day!!

OK .. so today it is back to the clean eating .. and kickarse w/o! Tonight's infliction of pain will be a combo mish mosh of cardio (step) heavy upper and lower body shaping w/a core/plank cool down!! will prbly be complaining of DOMS tommorrow .. but they are indeed much needed!!! Have a great one!!:D

Hey Peeps.

I took a gander in the rotations forum and came across FitnessFreak's 08 Leg Blast Rotation. I'm thinking of doing it with a few substitutions in it. Anyone wanna join me? :) If I do it, I won't likely start it until next week. Gotta give the legs a break first. ;)

laura- sounds like you had such an awesome time!! you certainly deserve it. wishing you many DOMS tomorrow...;o)

wendy- can you post the link?

ok, so how did everyone do with their water intake today?

i am on point. thanks Angie!!

Hiya girls

It's getting dark too darned early! Had a beautiful day today in the 70's with sunshine. So, when I got home I HAD to go for a run. It's been a while since I have done that and I know this weather won't be stickin' around for long.:(
Yesterday we drove around looking at all the beautiful fall colors.:) It was an awesome lazy day. DH found a good deal on a new lawnmower and so I went and picked it up for him today. Can't go color touring without spending some $$$$ right?;)
I have managed to get my water in, which is actually a challenge for me. It looks like many of you don't have too much of a problem getting the water in.

Wendy - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!:):D:):D I knew you'd do great. You're too stubborn to let TTOM get ya.;) Are your feet sore??
Enjoy your well deserved break today. Ahh yes, the nap! I'm sure it felt heavenly.:)

Jacque - New CC's? I'll bet you're ready to attack the mailman huh?
I too have a hard time getting back to Cathe after I do the X. IA, I think it's more endurance based and my endurance always suffers on the X. I noticed that today when I went for a run. Maybe if I did the doubles, I wouldn't lose it so much.
Too funny about the water workout.;) It's all good. I'm trying really hard to make sure I get it in before 7pm, so I don't get up in the night to pee.:p

Diana - I see you are using the weekends for what they are meant for....sleeping in and football.:D
Did you get that snow?

Jen - Do you work for uncle sam? I can't complain....it was pretty slow for me at the office today without the wad of mail I normally get on Monday.
I gotta order the Kest vids soon. I soooo hope I like him.

DeeDee - Have fun with DH and arms. Maybe you'll have to arm wressle him?:p
Do you usually do both cardio and a body part (or two) per day?

Laura - I'd be thrilled with a hit like that too! I never win anything....but I am way to cheap to put any significant amount of money into a machine either.
The water thing will definintely be a "no problem" challenge for you. Wowza! You drink a LOT of water girl. But, if that keeps the stones away, I don't blame ya one bit.
No snow here.........sure hope you didn't jinx me.:p

I suppose I'd better go get the grill started for dinner. BBL to see what ya all are up to.

Angie

well i am totally with you on the need to reign in the food intake. it's gotten bad...;o(

i would join u as my legs could use some leaning out but it would have to wait until after i finish my rotation with dh. we have 3 more weeks. i had to promise i would finish this one with him or he will never work out with me again, lol.

angie- you snuck in on me... no i don't usually work out this way. first time. can't wait to see the results!

Ang: Actually the TOP of my right foot was VERY sore/tender up until some this evening. I have no idea what I did to it but it REALLY hurt and was worse with shoes on! I felt it immediately after the race was over. I wanted to rub it in the car on the way home thinking it would help. Well, apparently my legs were not recovered enough yet cause when I went to bend my leg to put my foot on the car seat so I could reach it I got a nice big CRAMP in my inner thigh! YEOWCH! I was able to massage it away before it took a really strong hold. Thank goodness or DH would have had to pull over!

Sunny: I'd love to wait for ya but I just can't. My exercise ADD won't let me. I'll change my mind before I even start! LOL I may change my mind anyway but if I don't wait too long I atleast have a fighting chance! :p I made the changes I wanted to make (mostly to some of the cardios) so now I'm all set to go! :)

Well hey y'all.

Work was too busy - here I am at home and feel the need to catch up.

Jen - the 2nd of Brian's Yoga's huh? May have to pull that one out. Only made it through the moving poses with Tony last time. Hope your day off was a good one (I had to count on the weekend for a break:p!).

Wendy - Wow what a race. Good, bad & ugly, huh? Glad you had you Cheetah buddy Shelly with you. That must have helped alot. Will wait to hear that the soreness has left you - and now you are posting your new rotation? Well GUESS WHAT ! That is the one I started today ! I read many good raves about it so was anxious to try it. Actually did a few days before we started the 90X here. I not only looks like it will work, but looks like fun (in our "sick" kinda way !). Debbie sure kicks pretty good behind with her workouts. Hope you got in a good nap to help heal yourself. . .

Dee Dee - thanks for the explanation on the endurance - sounds like Angie feels the same way. I guess it makes for a good switch up if nothing else? Hope your arm work brought you many good DOMS !;)

Laura - way to go with the gambling girl ! LOL at you jumping around and DH getting embarassed. I think it builds character for them, no? So you lucked out on the first XFactor challenge did you? Well maybe we will move your name to the top of the list for next time? All in favor say "aye"!:D Well our weather was nice half way through the day, but it was only 41' when I left for work - had to turn on the heater in my office as it was only 58' and I dressed for the 78' we were supposed to have later in the day. Will be warming back up even higher during the day, but there was even frost on the roofs this AM. Am in CA so don't want to complain - just could bring myself to drink cold water today. ;)

Angie - nice to hear you had some good weather and a nice drive yesterday. Glad you had time to take a run outside too ! Fresh fall air is great (as long as it doesn't stir up your allergies !). Lucky for me I order the CC's as downloads so it is instantaneous pleasure . . . Just haven't gotten them on the ole iPod yet. Started painting yesterday and want to continue as soon as I am done here. Grilling sounds good but I think it will be a leftover night as I paint and also try to get some "homework" done from work.:(

WENDY - I see you were posting while I was "catching up". So I will be doing the rotation and may need to skip some during this week and next anyway. Let me know what your plans are and we will be close to the same days.

Probably won't be back until the AM - have good eves ladies !

Jacque: So it looks like I have atleast one partner in crime for the leg rotation. Kewl beans! You know, now that you mention it I remember you posting about doing the rotation but ofcourse, I forgot!:p I'll let you know when I plan to start once I know for certain. :)
Yeah, you could say that I didn't have the best set of circumstances surrounding my race yesterday. I know it took it's toll on my performance and ultimately on my time. Oh well...there's always next year!;) For now though it's on to bigger and better things like full marathon plans for 09!

Hey all!!

My day off from work turned out to be a lot busier than I wanted it to be. I started with some general house cleaning then decided to work out, and as I was getting ready to start, I had the bright idea to move one or two things out of the way, which lead to one or two more, and before you know it I reorganized my whole workout space. Then I did the Drillmax total body premix. Why didn't you all tell me those nasty pushups on the stability ball were in there??? Ugh. I hate those. After the workout it was time for grocery shopping, then I made stew for supper, and sat down and watched the Red Sox lose. Finally, the kids are in bed and I'm about ready, too.

Ang, yes, I work for Uncle Sam, in a way. I work for a backruptcy trustee who is a contractor of the federal government. So I don't work directly for the government, but I work for a woman who does, so we go by the feds holiday schedule. Where do you live? I'm enjoying the fall foliage right now, as well, and it is gorgeous! Just about at its peak, I think. In fact, we seemed to do all the typical fall activities this weekend...a corn maze, the apple orchard, and flea marketing (I don't know if that's fall-ish, but we happened to do it, though I don't think I'll be doing it again.) This is absolutely my most favorite time of year!

Dee Dee, I did not get close to my water goal today  I do so much better when I'm at work because I keep a jug right near my desk and keep my glass filled. I get too distracted to think about it when I'm at home!

Laura, I didn't think Kest held the poses as long as Tony does. It's funny, different strokes for different folks, I guess! I also have Baron Baptitste's set and I couldn't get into it. Although, that's likely because, as usual, I got on a yoga kick a while back and bought a bunch of dvds that people seemed to buzz about, only to wind up with too many options and information overload! Like a toddler suffering from too much sensory stimulation, I eventually just shut myself off :p It's the same reason I've had Drillmax for ages and only just tried the circuits today.

Jacque, sounds like work is keeping you on your toes! Maybe that's another reason to check out some other yoga options ;) Hope tomorrow turns out to be a lighter day for you. I feel the same way about switching from heavy weight workouts back to Cathe. She kicks my arse every time!!

Wendy, I'll have to check out that rotation. I've been thinking lately that I'd like to improve my endurance and do the 2-3 days total body work, 3 days of cardio, and a day (at least) of yoga thing. Would really like to shed 5-7 pounds of fat. Of course, diet is definitely the key, and I also have to reign in my diet. How are you feeling? It kind of amazes me that you're even considering a leg rotation the day after your 18 miler! Methinks you have a sadistic streak to you ;)

Diana, how's your SIL doing? What's her prognosis? Hopefully they found it early and she'll be cancer free soon. They have made strides in treatment and for many women, it's conquerable. I hope your SIL is one of them.

Okay, my fingers are tired and it's back to the grind in not too many hours :( Catch y'all tomorrow sometime!

Jen
