X-Factor:: Hump Day :/ 10/15/08

Good Morning everyone!!

Seems everybody is late today. It's funny, 'cuz even at work, Wednesday is consistently the day where we all stroll in a little late. Never fails. :rolleyes:

So this morning I did a Kettlebell workout, Iron Core Way 2. I like that one for its brevity. It allows me to sleep in a few extra minutes and still get a total body workout in. Last night I went for a run after work, and after logging some time on the treadmill yesterday morning, taking my walk at lunch, I ended up with a total mileage for the day of 7.5 miles. I'm cool with that.

Well like Jen, I am surprised not to have many postings here.

I did the old sleep in this AM as we were out way too late and I am exhausted. Got sore buns by the end of the night last night so am thinking B&G will wait until after work or, if I'm still really sore I'll wait until tomorrow so I get a good workout in and can then WALK the next day!:p

Nice job on the miles yesterday Jen ! All I can succumb to are 4 flights of stairs to get to the car in the parking lot - well I guess we did walk half a dozen blocks to get to the stadium. :)

we are all pretty late today.

jen- hope you enjoyed KBway this morning! i will join you this afternoon for a powerwalk.

jacque- i am truly sadistic i also went for a 1 mile run follwed by running the stairs for 20 mins at the university!! a couple of friends called and i just couldn't resist...lol

of course i have some nice hammie DOMS today.

today's workout was calves and abs from 4DS, followed by a 30 min icycle. at lunch time me and dh are going for a hilly powerwalk. also, i just hired a boxing instructor for a new boxing fitness class at my gym and he is doing a 30 min demo today. so i am getting in alot of cardio today...

Hi ladies,

My legs are very sore from the heavy leg w/o I did on Monday. So today I decided to do Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme to work out some of the soreness.

I'm not sure if I will be able to get away for a lunch w/o or not. If not I should be able to go for a walk.

Jen-I can't wait to get a kettlebell or 2 so I can do some of these w/o's with all of you. I just wish they weren't so expensive. Nice job on your running/walking too!

Jacque-I'm not really following any rotation. I've looked at a few and may follow fitnessfreaks endurance rotation. Going to the games always provides plenty of walking:D

Sunny-You sound like a busy bee, cycling, boxing, stair running, power walking etc. Is there anything you don't do??? I'm tired just reading your post!!;)

Humpday madness ..

DANG .. another one of "those" days!! OK Wendy and Ang .. we have been posting together for so long our periods are falling the same week .. OH MAN .. I got it bad today .. PMS MONSTER has me in a tail spin!! GGRRRRRRR!!

I have to tell ya'll .. after last night's class from H### .. on the way home I bumped a deer ... there were 2 big ones and one fawn .. I slammed on brakes ..the 2 big ones were on the side of the road the smaller one in the middle .. well I was almost stopped and the stupid fawn start darting and running straight to my car .. and IT ran into me .. luckily no damge to me or the deer other than scaring us both to death!! THEN .. this morning .. I am of course late for work .. and I rounded a corner a HERD OF FREAKING cows were in the middle of the road .. :eek: . WTH ....am I cursed or something?? Well slammed on brakes .. slid to a stop right before I was about to dead center a huge female cow . . finally stopped and had swirved to the left .. dang if the calf didnt FREAK out .. and started running to my car .. I started easing forward and JUST did miss him running into me :mad: .. GEESH!!!!!

SSOOOOOOO .. that is how my day started off .. and it has progressivly gotten worse .. I will spare you the details .. :mad:...

On to a better subject .. the new girl did show ..and she said she was SOOOOOO sore .. but enjoyed my class .. so we did the class from H### last night .during the middle she says .. "OMG .. my butt can't take much more" .. LOL .. everyone laughed b/c the others new we had about 3 more segments that worked the crap out of the glutes ... but after class she came up and said even though she was dying she LOVED the class format and would be coming full time now!! :)

DOMS report: butt, shoulders, chest and core!!! :D

Wendy .. are you getting over your race day DOMS yet?? you passed the PMS monster to me and Ang .. shame on you .. :p ...

Jen .. you nailed it .. running late this morning .. luckily boss knows I travel a rural road the likelyhood of being delayed by a loose herd of cows is believable .. LOL!!!

DeeDee - hills .. cycling .. abs. .kickboxing ... WHEW .. you are making my sore body tired .. lol!! WTG .. do tell how the kickboxing class goes!!

Jacque .. I try to walk stairs wherever I go .. even if it is one flight . when we go off .. my friends get mad b/c I would rather do the stairs than the elevators . lol! How did the hockey game go??

Ang .. it would be nice to have everything paid in cash .. cash does not bounce .. errrrr .. not yet anyway .. :p .. PMS monster too??? gggrrrrr .. sooooo not fun ... :mad: .. I thought you and I were about on the same time frame w/that .. my best thing is to try to sit quietly and go unnoticed today .. LOL .. try to concentrate on paperwork and not make eye contact w/anyone .. LOL!

Di ... my heavy leg day is tommorrow ... as sore as my bootie is today .. I dread it .. lol!! although I love LB w/o!!!

Shirl ... what is on tap for today .. hhmmmmm .. the eating right thing maybe should be our next challenge I just failed miserably at lunch .. dont even ask!!! :(

OK .. today is my rest day .. just have a brisk walk/run w/the dogs planned .. nothing like having a bad day and having my babies greet me w/open eyes and doggie smiles and kisses to cheer me up!! Have a great one .. will "try" to BBL to check in w/you girlies!!;)
 
Laura, I am LMAO at your morning! (Sorry :p) But OMG, I think maybe you need to remove the animal magnet from your car!! (And maybe slow down a little bit...NOT that I'm saying your PMS monster is making you drive like a maniac or anything...***I would never say that***...but...it may be just a little something you might want to consider ;))

And whatever you do, have a safe drive home!!

LOL .. Jen .. I KNOW .. of course I would never speed :eek: .... (fingers crossed behind my back) ..... my day has progressivly gotten worse . . so think I will be driving slow on the trip home ... LOL .. my mother even called me and said to be carefull there was a HORSE loose on that road .. :confused:...I said have no doubt I will find the dang thing!!

.... aahhhhh .. nothing like the obstacle course that takes place this time of year on the way home .... :eek::confused: .. would you beleive the MONTH I got this car I hit a dang COON and a coon took out the bottom part of my bumper and the undercarriage thingie on the bottom of the car ...:confused: .. WTH???? Like I said someone put a curse on me!!!

This is a day I need to call it quits and go back and crawl under the cover and start again!! LOL ...

Ok .. I am going out on break and look for the damned animal magnet thingie!!!

I am soo not liking my duties these days and, while actually getting a lunch today, am enjoying LMAO and spitting my salad all over my paperwork !:eek:

Good to see nearly everyone has made it here today and hope the others are just too DANG busy and OK.

Dee Dee - well you sure have a lot on tap for today. I haven't had hammie soreness for a while but sure did from Tony last week. I also like stairs and enjoy kinda measuring how out of breath I am from week to week while climbing the 4 - 5 flights depending on where we park. A great end to dinner out !;)

Diana - Kickbox is great for the soreness - good choice. I did the FFreak endurance earlier this year. It was after Alwyn and a good choice for me. Helped me lean up a bit. LOL at your being tired from reading Dee Dee's post - I was thinking that she just has WAAYYYY TOOO MUUUCH energy for me ! Between she and Wendy, they should bottle some of it. But then again, we have others teaching 4 classes in one day ! I need that energy !

Laura - Thanks for letting me laugh WITH you at your day so far. Near the end of the first paragraph I check my calendar and SURE ENOUGH, full moon yesterday !:eek: Things should get better for you soon !:D What a total bummer about all the wildlife bearing themselves to you these days. And I can suppose the winter is worse while they are hunting for food? Please BE SAFE during this bad weather time.

Good to hear your new student is nearly as sadistic as you? LOL ! Nothing like having some good DOMS. In fact last night, after doing MM DB flies on Mon., by the end of the night my pecs were so sore I stopped clapping and just started screaming ! :eek: It is definitely all good though ! And SINCE you asked - I must brag a bit - for the first time in Sharks history (over 20 years) they are 4 - 0 at the beginning of the season. New coaching seems to have made an incredible difference. Hope they can continue to play well together. YEP, I'm a beaming son of a gun right now. (Like they are my boys or something !). Just real fun to see good games - winning is the icing.

Jen - thanks for adding to my "spitting". :D Loved you teasing comments ! So glad I'm sitting here in my office by myself !:p

Will BBL to report my workout - if all goes well in the next couple of hours I will have time for L & G. I am feeling pretty good and if I don't workout I won't get my H20 in today. Not doing too well yet !:mad:

Laura, if a coon took out the bumper and undercarriage of your car, all I can say is "Oh shi-, you guys must grow 'em big in 'Bama!!" If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I think I'll stay in the city, and make sure I'm not hiding any cookies in my pockets if I decide to wander out! I'll never forget the time my girlfriend, who worked in Yellowstone for years, told me she got chased by a buffalo. Thankfully, she had the wits about her to hide behind a tree, because apparently they're nearly blind? God bless her. I <<<shudder>>> to think what might have happened to me in that instance!! I don't think I'm big enough to do damage to a buffalo...

Hey Girls.

Just a quick post for now to let you know I'm still alive. :p

I have no idea if I posted y'day's work out or not so I'll do it now. I did the upper body work from TJ's T3 sculpting work out plus 50 bicycle crunches. I also had to add in chest work because Chalene didn't have any in the work out! :eek: I looked like a cripple trying to do the warm up. My left leg was still hurtin' pretty badly so I couldn't get into a squat position with it. :confused:

Today's work out was a walk/run on the TM. It was quite slow and sloggy but it's done. I was movin' for 30 minutes and only went 2.26 miles. What does THAT tell ya!? :D:p My knees were still a little wonky when I was running so that's why it was so incredibly slow. That being said, I feel pretty good. The soreness is at a bare minimum now. :)

Tomorrow's plan assuming the leg/knees can take it is a Cathe circuit work out...Bootcamp, Low Impact Circuit, Drill Max, etc.....so many to choose from. How ever will I make up my mind!?!? :eek: LOL

Heading out in a few minutes to see if DH and I can pick up inexpensive Halloween costumes at Target for ourselves. We are going to the annual party that DH's cousin have every year and usually go looking pretty lame. This year I decided we would make an effort so we'll see what we can find w/o having to spend a small fortune. Joey is being Thomas the Train. :D

Thanks for letting us know you're alive, even if you're not "kickin'" !

Good to hear the legs are getting back to normal - brings back memories of a few months ago when all I ran was a 10K and it took me 3 - 4 days for the pains to subside enough to do more than walk or UB workouts.

I am still so proud of you and hope that someday I will take on a challenge like you have ! (I guess I sound like your Mom or something, but I really enjoy when people give it their all - you peeps are the ones who inspire me to keep the ol' bones a movin' and a shakin' :eek:).

So I might have mentioned I was feeling good enough for L & G a bit earlier, but truth be told my mind is foggy from today's work and what I have to accomplish the remainder of the week. Am feeling like a workout and a long hot shower, but think I'll pass on weights and switch to an intense cardio. I have Low Max and KPC left this week. Off to change and either pick one of those or do a CC which clears the mind. . .

Full Moon Wednesday

No doubt about that! OMG what a day from.....well you know.
All I know is that I'm sleeping in tomorrow so I don't get up on the wrong side of the bed. Ummmmm.....that doesn't make sense does it?:confused: Oh well, I'm still sleeping in!:p

I got home from work early and did B&B and GB abs. I did get my 3 liters of water in, but I chugged a liter about an hour ago.....so I hope it doesn't get me up in the middle of the night. I had to get home early to go to a conference dinner with DH. It was all about the new Detroit Diesel engine.....blah blah blah.:rolleyes: I was wishing I was anywhere but there. However, the dinner was great....baked chicken, salad, green beans, mixed veges, and peaches for desert along with a choc. chip cookie....or two.;) All in all pretty good.

We got a call before heading out from the principal that Cam got expelled from school for tomorrow.:mad: Apparently he had his hands around another kids neck. I was shocked! He says he was just kidding around. I'm sure there was more to it than that, but the kid he did this to is a friend of his who comes over to the house all the time, so I really think they were just messing around. I keep telling myself that this is a good lesson for him to learn. He's always pushing buttons and testing his boundaries, so now that he has pushed it wayyyyyy to far, I'm hoping it will have a long lasting impact for him. Tomorrow it will be him and me at home. I'm just dreading it b/c I'm so mad at him that I don't even want to talk to him right now. After I get a good night's sleep I'm hoping things will look better in the morning. The kid is gonna be knee deep in cleanmax all day!!! Ug!!

I think the KB's will be on my X-mas list. Anyone know the cheapest place to get them? What weights do you start out with? Do you have to order the DVD's online or are they available at sporting goods stores?

Oh, and any suggestions for Cam's punnishment would be greatly appreciated. DH and I aren't really sure how to handle this situation. He's never done anything like this before so we are at a loss. He is grounded from anything electronic indefinitely and DH did warm his butt when we got home after we talked to him. I just feel there should be something more significant, just don't know what. DS asked if he just messed up his halloween. I hadn't even considered that, but that is 2 weeks away and I'd hate to take that away from him since it only comes around once a year, but I don't want to be a pushover either. Help!!!

Well in the end I decided to hop on the TM and hit another episode of my '24' series rather than do a CC. Wanted to totally veg while running tonight. And it has been so long it took me nearly 25 minutes (on the TM of course:p) to figure where I had left off. Good and bad ya know - good, I did a 68 min, 5.85 mile warm-up/run/fast walk, bad, well I watched quite a bit of it twice.:(

Had a bit of the old 'behind the hip joint pain' at about bout 2.5 miles but kept adjusting my form to make is as comfortable as possible. I do wish I could figure out what the problem is. Not running won't cure it 'cuz I haven't run for weeks - new shoes, I have them. WTH is going on here? In fact it didn't hurt at all while I was doing my 15 min mile walk at the end, that was the .85 miles?

Anywhoo - I have only had about 1.5 qts of water so need to get a movin' on that today. Ended up with too much java this AM to try to offset my lack of sleep!:eek:

Angie - what is B&B? All I could think of is Back and Buns, but don't know about that?:confused: Nice to hear a healthy type of dinner was served to you. And since I haven't been checking in with you for very long, how old is your darling little Cam these days? I understand it was probably one of those goofy things kids do, but ITA that you need to make him understand it turned out to be a more serious thing. Sometimes things that seem innocent to some are not to others. A lesson should be learned from this before he gets into some very serious trouble for "clowning around", assuming he is old enough for a lesson like that.

And as far as the flaxseed being heated, it is actually flaxseed oil that can turn rancid if heated so the suggestion is to only use it cold. It should be refrigerated after being opened.
