workouts with cold

Well I have a stinkin cold, but I still want to work out...my question is would it be better to just do a just weight workout today and cardio tommorrow, or does it matter? I mainly have a stuffy head and nose, and I know once I start working out the nose is going to turn in to a leaky faucet.

I would say for sure hold off on the cardio, as you said that will make your nose even worse than it is now. If you are running a fever you should probably not work out at all today, but trust me I know that is easier said than done... if no fever, do weights today & cardio tomorrow if you are feeling better. This is just my opinion though... :)
 
Why don't you just be kind to your body and give it a rest for a day or two. I feel so tired when I have bad colds all I want to do is sleep more. Let your body rest so it can heal quickly and then you will be back to working out sooner, probably, than if you stick it out and drain resources your body needs to direct towards anti-body production right now. A day or two of rest will pay dividends.

When I have a cold I just have to rest. Definitely no cardio maybe some yoga or stretching especially if you are sore.
 
Thanks everyone, I actually did not end up working out...I think I thought bigger than I could actually do!!! Maybe tommorrw! I hope everyone has a great evening.

I know what you mean - I have a serious sinus infection & have been too worn out to work out at all for the past 2 days! So today I was determined to workout no matter what - I started to do a BMax2 premix, but couldn't go more than the wu and 1 power circuit-ugh! So, I just listened to my body and did a short pilates dvd instead.

I hate this rundown feeling - i like to keep on the workout groove...

Hope any other "sickies" are feeling better soon!

I have a head cold too!!x( It started Saturday and I haven't worked out in 4days. I thought a good sweaty workout would help but I can't muster the energy. Maybe tomorrow morning.;-)

I haven't worked out for 4 days now too b/c of head cold. I feel much better today so am hoping for a mild workout in the morning!

Well I still haven't worked out...just like the rest the energy just not there. I have 4 new Cathe dvds that I just got from ebay, hopefully when they get here I will be more motivated!! If that doesn't work I don't know what will!!!

I took the whole week off due to my head cold. I feel much better and Sunday I am starting over. I feel guilty but my body needed the rest more than anything and my nose is finally not a faucet and my head doesn't throb.

Sorry to those of you who have colds. Can I ever relate! I caught a cold Christmas Day, and still don't feel 100%. I think mine evolved into a sinus infection. I never quit working out the whole time though. It's not necessarily a good thing that I won't stop, but I'm just too stubborn to give in to feeling bad.
