Workout lies, all lies. Whatever happened to-------

You can eat whatever you want if you just workout. What a lie that was/is.
All you need is 20 mins, three days per week. What a bigger lie that was/is
None was was true even when I as 20 years old.

I think it was just an effort to get the nation off its collective butt and get moving. It certainly worked for me.

I think that's why we get so many posts from folks who don't have a clue as to why their britches are getting too tight when they exercise, after all! What I used to here a lot is "muscle weighs more than fat," so they think it's all muscle!

I used to train a girl at the Y who could not understand why she was gaining weight and I told her for a year to keep a food journal. She gained 30 pounds before she took me up on it, and found that she was eating 5000 calories a day!

Don't we all wish it were true! I would love to eat donuts 7 days a week!

"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Mark Twain ;-)

LOL! We've come a long way w/ our exercise & diet theories. Though, not to be the voice of dissent, but 20 min of HIIT 3x/week probably would do the trick w/ a good lifting routine and clean diet :)

Debbie - I think you hit the nail on the head with your "clean diet" comment. If you eat a really clean diet, it's hard to over eat as you're full all the time! Problem is so few of us actually eat a very clean diet... (I struggle with this every day!). My ancestors must have been VERY successful during lean winters as every additional ounce I eat of icky foods loves to cling to my belly.

very true Christine :) I'm certainly not shouting out about my saintly cleanliness, but just providing some info ;) P.S. eating dirty is fun....
