Whitney Houston was my 2nd all-time favorite singer (Barbra Stresidand being my first). I used to listen to her over and over and whenever she did a live performance on tv, I wouldn't miss it for the world. She was one of the best female singers ever and could sing live as well as her recordings not to mention her star quality and pizzazz she had on stage.
In the past couple of weeks she has done two live performances. One on Oprah singing "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and the other on GMA, "I Look to You."
Although I have compassion and admiration for how she has pulled herself back onto her feet, as a fan of her extraordinary vocal ability, my heart breaks for her since she has lost most of the voice that she once had.
The song "I Look to You" bears a strong resemblance to the style of music she used to do and I could imagine her big booming voice singing it. But now, I guess from the years of drugs, she struggles through it with very little vocal range and smoothness. Her voice continues to give out throughout her songs and I just so wished for her, that after all she has gone through, that she would still have that incredible gift.
