What should be my next purchase?

Hi All,

I am very new to the Cathe workouts, although I have been working out at home for over 15 years. I have High Step Circuit and Step Works. I can get through High Step Circuit and I use 7 pound weights, I don't like the bands and a lower step for the leg work. Step Works is still tough:( but I am working on learning the steps every day.

Today I was going to do High Step Circuit with her stability ball routine and then do at least 15 mins of Step Works. As I learn the tape I add 5-10 mins a day more.

My question to the forum is " what should be my next purchase so I can start a rotation"? My main concern right now is to lose weight. :) I am also 43 :)

Thanks for all the help!!

I would suggest that you need some real strength training in there. The weights work on any circuit style w/o, like High Step training, is endurance based. To help you lose weight, you want to build as much lean muscle tissue as you can, which will boost your metabolism and prevent the weight you lose coming from muscle tissue rather than fat tissue. That means investing in a strength training series with split routines, like the new Gym Styles series from the Hardcore series. The routine is split between three workouts: legs, chest and triceps, back, shoulders and biceps. It is thorough and enjoyable.

You will need a range of dumbells and barbell with plates up to 60 or 70 pounds (you won't need it all at once, but as your strength grows, you will need the full range). If you are dedicated to setting up a fitness routine for the rest of your life, these are essential purchases.

After that, I would suggest investing in more cardio routines to round out your program. SPowermax, Step Blast from the Body Blast series, KPC kickboxing workout from the Body Blast series and the list could go on....

Hope this helps,

Clare

Crosstrain Xpress is a really good workout for doing a rotation. Each day you get cardio and work a different body part. Xpress Legs is absolutely killer on the legs. The steps are easier than some of her other workouts.
If you want longer workouts I'd recommend getting the intensity series. Cardio & Weights is the easiest one in the intensity series. Imax2 really boosts your cardiovascular fitness. Pyramid Upper Body and Pyramid Lower Body are excellent for challenging and increasing muscle density. Bootcamp is a fun circuit workout that can be very challenging depending on how hard you push yourself. Muscle Endurance lives up to its name. If you want even longer workouts then get the Terminator...it more than lives up to its name (and its fun).
