walking lunge aternatives?

There was someone on this forum that posted that she ran to the track, then did a series of walking lunges down one straightway, then a sprint up the other - for 6 laps!!! I'm sorry, I could NOT find that thread again otherwise I would give her MAJOR props!
Anyway, this inspired me and a friend to try this, as we go running around a high school track once a week. Oh BOY did we have fun! Granted, we didn't do ALL walking lunges - this is what we did for our laps-

run around track once - did stadiums
walking lunges straightway - sprint sraightway (we barely made it though ONE!)
side lateral skips - sprint
other side lateral skips - sprint
backwards run - sprint

We had so much fun doing this - and got a great workout. However, we're not up for adding more walking lunges, and want to add more laps, but different variety. I can't think of any!!! Does anyone here have another suggestion for a straightway (am I making sense?) I have thought of that scissor type run (one leg cross while running sideways then the other leg crosses). Anyone else know any we can add?
 
I'm sorry, I don't have any alternatives to suggest but could you PLEASE take a picture of you and your friend doing this? Particularly with one of you doing the scissor run and the other doing the backwards run! :7

Oh that sounds like fun! Yes, I cannot imagine doing walking lunges for 6 laps - I can't remember who came up with that routine, but my hat's off to her! :)

You could try regular skipping - that's so much fun! You could do some kind of kickbox move - like step and front kick, or bob and weave forward with jabs and uppercuts. Or, since there's two of you, you could take turns doing a wheelbarrow move (remember wheelbarrow racing from elementary school days???) :D Or how about cartwheels down the straightaway? Okay, that might make you dizzy. ;)
 
Oh my gosh Emily that is so funny, my friend actually SUGGESTED wheelbarrows!! I just laughed it off like she was joking!!!! But I guess that WOULD be a great arm workout!!! hahahaha! Kickboxing moves are a GREAT idea!!!!! Bob & weave w/ jabs & uppercuts - I'm adding it!!!

Lunacat - I KNOW !! We must've looked hysterical. But we were actually there when there was only a couple people around. AND, one guy who was steadily running, when we were done, we saw him doing the side skip thing down the straightway part of the lap too!!!! We were so happy - I guess we couldn't have looked THAT bad for others to try it!! Either that or we were laughing so hard he wanted to know what the fun was!:7
