Visceral fat

I think I'm one of those people who pack fat in and around their organs and not just under the skin. The only reason I think that is my waist is thicker than average. If I go only by my waist size, I would be buying pants 2 sizes larger and having them bag on my butt and thighs. But, I tend to compromise and constantly have a pinching waistline to avoid the bagging.

Anyway, I'm guessing cardio is the only way to get rid of visceral fat. My question is for everyone and anyone. Do you think visceral fat is the first to go or the last?

I know when you first workout it takes a month or so to show results and I got to thinking that this means it's burning fat on the inside instead of just under the skin. What do you think?

Hi Brenda,

Another poster linked to a great article so I have nothing more to add about visceral fat, but I would suggest that you buy your clothes to fit your biggest measurement then have them altered. You'll feel better and probably look thinner in the long run. Just my .02

Great article.

It's got me wondering about something.. ;) What do you suppose the Cathe equivalent of 17 miles of jogging per week it?

Michele,

You are probably right. I guess I find it a bother to take things to be altered. I need some new pants for fall anyway. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. Truth is, that feeling pinched all day has a very demoralizing effect on the mind. You feel like a stuffed piggy all day. Even when it's not deserved.

I know what you mean. I need to go a size larger to acommodate my hips, then everything is too big around my waist. OOOHHH-- to have perfect measurements!
