V smile or leapfrog?

Looking for a gift for family member. The family has a three year old [very smart] and a toddler. Any reccomendations for a learning system? V-smile or leapfrog?

My kids have the V-Smile that goes with the TV (not the new handheld one) and the Leapfrog Leapster (I hope that's the one you are talking about because you just said leapfrog and they have tons of products. In my opinion, the Leapfrog Leapster is better. The games are better and my kids play with it more. I have a five year old and a three year old. The graphics are better and the games are more fun. That is just my opinion. They also have the Leapster L-Max handheld that also comes with cables so you can plug it into the tv to play on the big screen. Hope that helps. Happy Holidays!

My 6 year old has a Leapster that my 2 year old loves. My 2 year old loves it so much that he is getting his own Leapster L-Max for Christmas. We don't have the V-Smile, so I can't help you out there.

There are three different types of the leapster. The first is the leapster learning system which is their original handheld. The next handheld is the leapster L-max which is like the original leapster but it can play the original games and L-max games plus you can plug it into your tv or play as a handheld on the go. The third is the leapster TV which is kind of like a playstation or game cube for kids. It only plugs into the tv and has a controller and you can use the games from the handhelds on it. It all depends on how the kids will be using their game and like to play. If you have more questions feel free to ask. I hoped that helped a bit.

Edited to add: Here is a link to Walmart.com that has all three of the systems, their prices, and what they do.

MY LITTLE BOY is 5 and he loves his Leapster handheld. The original Leapster handheld also plays the Leapster LMAx games...wish I knew that last year! Anyway, I feel good about the Leapster games since not only do they entertain the kids, but every game is teaching them things at the same time...math, reading, spelling, you name it! Leapster products are great!

Just my opinion...take it or leave it!!!(Where have we heard that before!?)

leapster it is. I suppose I should go with the lmax leapster since it is good on the go and at home hooked to the tv. Too bad they didn't have these when my daughter was little. She would have loved it I'm sure. Thanks everyone!
