Thanks to all of you that have helped me with all of this. I just wanted to let you know that there is no real update, except that I'm certain it's mice now. There is definitely a decomposing animal in there now, and more alive in the wall. I called them again this morning at the instant I started hearing them scratch and move around, but by the time the guy got here, they wouldn't make a sound. So, even though you can smell them, he didn't really want to believe me.
I've had two maintenance guys over, the maintenance manager, and an exterminator coming over soon. They REFUSE, I mean absolutely REFUSE, to get into that wall and either save the live animals or remove the dead ones. I wanted to get somebody over here to just put a hole in the wall and fix the problem, however if the infestation is in somebody else's apartment, I won't be fixing the problem anyway, and then allowing them access into the house. Until the root of the problem is fixed, and it's a building of six units, putting a hole into my wall isn't the answer. I certainly have no authorization to send somebody into other people's apartments, nor can I afford that.
I said I was going to the campus lawyer, and I have made an appointment for Tuesday (he's not there on Monday). .
I'm actually about to do some research about Colorado laws to see if there's anything they're obligated to do. I unfortunately don't have a lawyer's mind so it's hard to find this information out on my own!
I'm STILL determined to move, but I'm running out of time, and options are bad. I'm not giving up yet, though! I've had it with this place, and I just don't have the experience to know what to do.
Thanks again for letting me vent. I'll let you know if this problem ever gets solved.
