Trying to Fit Yoga in For Sunday April 13

This morning I did Barry's Bootcamp Treadmill workout off of Butt/Legs with Nadia followed by part of Tracey's Walking Strong. I used hand weights for the entire walking workout and put my TM on the highest incline (only has 3 settings). Workout was 70" and I burned 562 calories.

I also did Bender Ball abs Level 2-3 12" and then I did Jill Miller's Total Yoga Tune Up - Spinal Tune Up 30" followed by The Best Yoga Workout Ever 30". The latter is a bummer of a buy I ordered off Amazon thinking it was a new workout and it ended up being old segements of QuickFix yoga and The Method Pilates/Yoga mix and it's mostly core work with yoga.

We went to see an EXCELLENT movie yesterday....Street Kings. Highly recommend it. Action packed, great story with twists and turns. We both loved it.

Have great rest days or workouts everyone. I'm already getting bummed about going back to work tomorrow. I love the weekends!

Jen - That movie you mentioned never played around here. We don't get every single movie if it opens up in limited release cuz I'm not in a huge city....just a small city. Would probably have to go to Cleveland to see it. I really hope Lenny is okay. That's all you need on top of everything else. It's weird how life gets crazy all at once and everything goes wrong for a while. That's why I get sort of scared/antsy when things have been going good for a long time......as I know one of those "hard" times have to be coming. Hang in there. Why are you doing an additional director's job at work? Did they downsize someone? Did they offer you more money with the additional responsibilities?

Hi to everyone else.

Hi ladies,

Happy Sunday. I am missing my usual Sunday pilates...though I will stick it out for a while longer. No workout for me to report yet - just saying hello. I am really jonesing for my cardio back - it has been so long...and I have 25lbs to lose!

Lora - Great workout today. How do you like the Spinal tuneup workout? Also interesting that Tracey has a foam roller segment in her new dvds. I haven't ordered any of her dvds - so I may order this one. Are there any others that you would recommend? More step - not too much weight work.

Jen - Nice to see you again. I am thinking about you this morning - and keeping my fingers crossed that your needles this morning will be effective. You asked in a previous note about my labour. I'd be happy to answer any questions you had.. I can say - that labour was very quick for me. I went thru the day feeling tired - and had some mild back soreness which I attributed to overdoing it the day before. (something called nesting syndrome)... That evening at about 9:30pm... my body just launched into labour immediately - with contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart. If I had any warning - or contractions beforehand - I honestly didn't know... it just seemed like labour came on hard and fast. So we went to the hospital - and by the time I checked in it was 11:00pm. At that time I was only dilated 1cm... so given how the pain felt - and knowing it would get much harder - I asked for the epidural.... The doctors told me that labour would likely last 14hrs with 3 hrs of pushing.. and the epidural isn't usually administered until 4cm dilation. However - she said she had an inkling that I may go fast - so she went ahead and ordered. The nurse wouldn't check me until after she knew that I had the epidural - bc she felt that it would slow things down... and we had a long night ahead of us anyways... and - she knew that she would have to put in a catheter once I had the epidural - so she figured she would check me then.... At 1:30am I finally got the epidural....and finally the nurse checked me....Well - I was already 8 cm.... and she knew that I would be pushing soon!!! At 3:00am - I was ready to push - after 4 pushes my little guy was born. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz - and he is amazing. We are managing fairly well -though really feeling sleep deprived. I so appreciate that morning cup of java!!! .... Baby is crying - so I will have to continue this a bit later...

Ok - I'm back now.
So - all in all - labour was roughly 6 hrs. I strongly believe that pilates and yoga really attributed to the easy labour...and the ability to regulate breath helped with pain and nervousness....(Though my nerves did get the better of me and was pretty sick to my stomach at times).
We are trying to establish routines - but it is hard. I have been running on 4 - 5 hrs sleep per night for the last 3 weeks (less the first week).. and it's amazing how quickly this becomes normal!
I hope all goes well for you today.... Try to rest up and not to put work into your head - no matter how difficult. Work will be there tomorrow -and next week and next month. I'll even suggest Jen - and I hope you don't mind... that you might take a stress leave from your work in order to do your treatments. You have so much on your plate. Is there such a thing in the U.S? Even if it is for a few weeks - it might help.

Kel - What a nice avatar you have. You look really nice in your picture. Hope you had a nice weekend.

Have a great day ladies.

Hi ladies! Yesterday's workout was BBC Arms. No WO for me today. I had some really good triceps DOMS from yesterday's WO! :) My procedure went fairly smooth this morning, so I will be doing another pregnancy test in about 10 days or so. Unfortunately, Lenny was worse this morning and my DH took him to the Emergency vet. He almost did not make it back home in time for my fertility clinic appt, which would have been a little weird to go to alone. They did lots of tests on Lenny, but wouldn't have the results back for a couple of days, so they couldn't tell us anything but ALL the cancer symptoms are back now. x( He has an appt with the oncologist on Tuesday and we will find out whether it's worth his quality of life to do another round of chemotherapy. I can't believe this is happening again...he was doing SO WELL and he has been so happy. I guess we got the gift of an extra few nice months with him-which really was a BIG GIFT considering his original prognosis. He did feel well enough to eat a big dinner :) and it was good to see him enjoy eating again.

Lora-You can count me in on the not ready to go back to work idea! Thanks for your thoughts about Lenny. We have been worried about him all weekend. Yes, our company is downsizing a little. They are generally not posting positions after someones leaves. The owners are just trying to be cautious with the economy the way it is right now.

Yve-Wow, that was a quick labor! It's good that it went so smoothly! It's probably the part I am most scared of, but I imagine once it starts, you can't help but to be ready. I have heard about the wonders of yoga for childbirth and certainly plan to do lots more of it when the time comes. Of course, I don't mind your suggestion about the stress leave! Unfortunately, there is no leave available except the 3 months of leave I will need once the baby is born if I get pregnant.

Have a great night everyone!
