it is my foot below the big bone. after surgery i will be on crutches for 3+ weeks! I am so bummed! i have thought of ways to do my upper body sitting in a chair but what about lower body? i'm also going to do situps lying down. eventually, in about a week, could i try doing pushups with bent knee or tri dips? i hope i am not going to have to change my workout routine after it is heeled.

After surgery and the cast is off, you will definitely be referred to physical therapy. I would ask them now what you are able to do and how to modify certain workouts.

Sorry about the injury!:-(

Laura, I'm sorry. I am experiencing a downtime right now from an injury & it's no fun. Hang in there. I am sure you'll be able to bounce back after it heals. Ask your doctor if you can do lying down floor work such as leg lifts since there will be no weight on your foot. If so, you could do inner & outer thigh. Not sure about being on all 4's but if he says it's fine, you can work your hamstring/glutes. Take care and hopefully, the next 3 weeks will fly by. Keep us posted. Work hard on your ABS & UB in the meantime.Thinking of you!

thanks for your support. ABS and UB i will work on the most. the pt is in the same building so i will talk with them after a week when he puts the cast on.

laura,

i am so sorry to hear about what you are going through. i am so injury prone and have chronic problems with my achilles tendon. the pt will have good recommendations to keep yourself going. i know i needed to take weeks off of doing anything, even walking due to the high risk of a tear at one point. its hard. this is a good place to vent.
