Too cold for breakfast smoothies . . .

With winter approaching, drinking smoothies in the morning just isn't appealing anymore. Does anyone have any great ideas for a portable breakfast (besides an egg on toast - that's been done too much too!)

Love to hear your ideas,

PB&J w/ground flax seed on whole wheat
egg salad sandwich
bars - luna, satisfaction, odwalla, etc.

I used to be very strict on what I ate for breakfast but now I will take almost anything as a half sandwich when I need to eat on the run!

I'm a big fan of oatmeal, it's only about 2 1/2 minutes in the microwave and you can toss in any fruit that you like. Make it with milk instead of water and it's extra calcium and protein. Travels in any container with a lid, and they have tons of flavors now, but the old-fashioned cooks just as fast in the microwave and is better for you.

You can add protein powder to the oatmeal, or to yogurt, for a very portable breakfast. Also, you can add flax seed to either of these in addition to the powder. One of my favorites is Spirutein with cherry yogurt with flax seed. Sometimes I also add oat bran. It's like a dessert!

I've noticed a lot of people on here talking about flax seed. I am not that familiar with the benefits of flax seed. Would someone be willing to explain it's benefits?

Thanks!

Katie

How about some chai? Green tea with soy milk and spices. Yummy! You could even add some protein powder if you wanted.
