The Wave

Have anyone heard of the wave by the firm? It's not getting too many good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/tag/fitness/f...orum=Fx38JUOX5MZ1H19&cdThread=Tx3MDPWAUC8FRL0

I have used the firm in the past and it was a great company in its day. After all the systems 1, 2,3 & 4 it's just been going down hill. Every year you have to buy a "NEW TOY". Why not build on what you have?

Question: Do you think its another gimmick or could this work?

Me personally I'm invested in CATHE. :D I was just wonder what everyone was thinking....

I used to be a Firmie

Hi,

I was a Firm fan for the longest time. I loved their classic workouts - so challenging. It is just my opinion, but I thought they got easier with every product series they launched. The last series I bought was the incline step - I thought that was a neat idea. Plus the incline bench also served as an incline for my bench press and pec flyes lol!

I did not buy the Wave though - personally I think that piece of equipment is ridiculous. You can train on a Bosu - and it is more versatile. But that is just me.

I was also disappointed that the Firm didn't build more videos on that Incline step. They could have done a lot with that. Yes, I totally agree that you have to keep buying equipment from them with every new idea they have.

Thankfully I found Cathe and I got away from the Firm altogether. Now I am getting the variety and challenge I need. Plus Cathe is portable for me to take to the gym. I just take those STS cards and my notes with me and I get a great workout anywhere.

I totally agree. I stopping the systems after the 2 or 3. And the incline box looked to dangerous for my weight. But I did buy transFirmer box I like the design. But other then that I was finished with the firm.

Seems like since Gaim took over it's been going down hill even more. Or maybe it's because alot of the instructors have left (Stephanie, Jen, Nancy).. The Transfirmer and BSS3 workouts were pretty good though... some nice short cardios in them.

The Wave seems like a flop, but might have had better potential if they made more and longer workouts for it.

I think I read on one of the site that one of the master instructors own the studio in north carolina but not sure.

humm, I believe south carolina. But don't hold me to it. And the instructor is Emily. Now I like her because she's just cute and bubbly.

I think you are right.

Yes, I do believe they are in South Carolina. I think I red the same thing that Emily owns it.
I read some things about the original owners - Anna Benson and some other people. I think I read that there was a falling out of sorts. But that could just have been a rumor too.

Anyway, I think the story goes that there was some sort of disagreement between the Bensons and the instructors. I think Emily started it back up. I am sure you can look up the history on the Firm.

That is a shame that Stephanie and Jen and Nancy left - they were some of my favorite instructors!

It is really unfortunate that the Firm could not have continued its original format and mission. There was so much potential in the market for home based workouts. There were not many options back then. I remember doing my mom's Jane Fonda tape in the bsement when I was 8!

I think the instructor who started her own studio is Nancy - the site is bodyfitcolumbia.com. The guy who was married to Anna Benson and was one of the 3 original founders of the Firm posts there sometimes (I think his name is Mark). I am really sad that they split up, as I think they made a great product. I did buy Anna's second set of workouts - FitPrime - but only a few of those were comparable to the original Firms.

I was a Firm devotee until they changed ownership. I tried some of the Gaiam Firms and didn't like them at all. Just the same old workout tapes you can get from anyone. The Firm workouts were ahead of their time. I can't imagine what I'd do if I hadn't found Cathe. It's amazing that as many workouts are out there, there are so few that are any good.

Just visited the site: http://www.bodyfitcolumbia.com/ and I see dale, nancy, stephanie and christa from the firms on that site. I hope they can make it work. However, I still and always will be a CATHE believer.....
there's nothing like cathe...... especially when you are trying do B & G ;0)

Emily from the videos licenses the Firm name and owns/runs The Firm studio somewhere in South Carolina. They teach classes and then some of the instructors do The Firm videos for Gaiam, or whoever owns The Firm name now. : )

I did the Butts & Guts premix standing glutes and timesaver abs and thought I was gonna die! Cathe always gets the job done. That being said, I do like The Firm Get Chisel'd and Pump, Jump, 'n Jab for a shorter workout or a lighter day when I just can't stand another glute raise on the high step.
