The No Sweets Check-In - June 9, 2005

First off - Kim! I'm so sorry to hear about your house. That must be incredibly stressful. Can you explain to me how real estate works in the US because that couldn't happen here in Canada without you being able to sue the other party for breach of promise. You deserve the apple tart. You should have had a bigger piece!

I made it through another day too! YAY FOR US!!! My SO actually got some cookies out last night and was hiding them so I wouldn't have to see him eating them and I said "it's okay, you can eat them in front of me" and it really WAS okay!

So, another day. Onward and upward, I say!:)

I'm not doing it but I'm here to tell you that I give you guys a lot of credit!! I didn't sign up for it because I would be doomed to failure and I know that about myself. So, I admire you all. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks Lois! And I bet you could do it. I thought I was doomed as well, but I've only had one small cheat and today is the ninth day!

No slip ups to report! But I swear time was going by fast and now it's slowing down:( Lets see what happens this weekend when on friday night we all go out to celebrate my sons bd and then my bd is Sunday. We don't usually do cake for bd's as my son isn't a fan so it should be a guilt free weekend:) I know SHelley made exceptions for those days but I am afraid if I slip I won't come back :) ANyway, I hope everyone else is doing ok too and that the month flies by!

Terri

Well, it is only 11:30 and I don't have work to distract me...but I think I will be okay again today.

Has anyone else noticed that they have more energy? I don't feel as tired and dragged out as I usually do. That is a great bonus and a motivator to continue with the no sweets challenge.

Tammy

I've noticed I have much fewer headaches by staying away from sugar.

While we were out last night, my daughter had a Wendy's frosty and I wasn't tempted - even though I loooove those things!!

Angie

I caved last night ~ I ate one of the bags of Chocolate Teddy Grahams that were "supposed" to be for my son's lunch today. I swear, during TTOM, I become a 5 year old. All I want is pb&j and graham crackers!

Sarah

YUMMM Teddy grahams! Ok sorry. I usually don't care about those! I am just craving anything I guess. Oh well Sarah put in behind you and move forward!

Terri

I'm still hanging in. I had a teeeeny tiny sliver of cake at a retirement party (hey...I love her, it's ok!) last weekend. I also went to several bbq's and had no junk whatsoever! I went to the movies the other night and had nothing. My date got candy and I didn't even want any

Me too!!! It's really great. I always used to have a tension headache by the end of the day, but not anymore. But... I really want a cookie. :p

I'm usually not allowed on the computer this time of day, my kids use it for homework or chatting. So I haven't been able to check in on these threads. But I was wondering, is it ok to have like jam on a sandwhich, or is it a nono. You'll probably say no, cause it does have sugar. Silly question. I'm on the brink of PMS and I am craving something sweet, sugary sweet, chocolaty sweet, something....

Dutchie:)

Dutchie, you could just have a fruit spread that's fruit with a teensy bit of added sugar. I had that on my toast this morning. It was strawberries with just a little bit of sugar. I think that's okay. I just finished PMS and I made it through. You can do it too!

Well Dutchie, originally, the plan was no baked goods and jam would be allowed. some of us have been more extreem though and said no sugar. do whatis best for you!

is it day 9 already? wow! i haven't had anything carbonated either! we are so amazing! :7

so shelley, did you freeze the biscuit?

jes:p

fruit spread!! I've seen it near the jam in the supermarket. I'll get it tomorrow. Thanks. Oops, I've been told to get of the computer, oh well, see you tomorrow.

Dutchie:)

I wouldn't have been able to do this if I hadn't started working. Now, i'm so busy during the day, I don't have time to think about sugar. Also, I drink Fruit20 all day which is sorta sweet but without the sugar.

PMS should hit any day now (though my roommate would probably argue that I've been PMS-y for a while) and I'm curious to see if I can withstand the lure of sweet, sweet chocolate!

Oh, and the weekend of the 18th, I have the opportunity to go to Willimasburg where they have the Trellis Cafe, owned by Marcel Desaulnier (creator of the infamous Death By Chocolate, and writer of the cookbooks with same name). How will I ever survive? At this point, I think I probably shouldn't even go. How could I not eat the cake??

Sheeeeeeelleeeeeeey.... come take me out of the freezer... you KNOW you want to eat me in all my buttery, cranberry goodness... come and get me, Shelley...

Sincerely,
The Biscuit

Lunacat ~ I'm at the beginning of it too. And I always reach for some dark chocolate, but so far so good. I think this weekend will be the real test. If I can do it and Shelley can do it, so can you!

I know that this wasn't part of the challenge, but we were running so late yesterday I had to pick up hot dogs which came with fries for the kids last night before we ran off again for dd baseball game.....anyway, I ate not just some, but a lot of their french fries! Aaargh! I don't know what came over me. x( They didn't even taste that good! At least I had a grilled chicken breast. Maybe I was unconsciously substituting fries for chocolate. Yeah, that's what it was!;)

No sweets though! Yeah!
