The Dog Whisperer

Have any of you seen this show? Cesar is AMAZING! I can't believe how he takes these totally out of control dogs and turns them around - so quickly. From attack Chihuahuas to Dalmations who go nuts on a leash and a Beagle who bit a mailman, he's just amazing (did I say that already?). And I can't believe how many pit bulls he has living together and they get along. I love this from his website:

There are no killer dogs!

Dogs are not born killers nor do they choose to be killers. What we are seeing in the news with the recent rash of canine violence, is the tragic outcome of humans who own dogs, but do not know how to properly fullfill the needs of man's best friend.

We can prevent dog attacks by understanding dog psychology. Dog owners, the public and especially the professionals charged with issues of public safety can live harmoniously with canines through proper care and communication with the animals.

I have proven that this is indeed true.

- Cesar Millan

If you haven't seen this show and you're a dog lover, I would highly recommend it!

Hey there Liz!

Try this link to see when it's on. I have my Tivo set up to record all episodes, so it seems like it's on all the time. :) But there are lots of repeats, as I didn't want to miss any. One thing I saw on his site said Fridays and another place said Mondays. It's on the National Geographic Channel.

Or you can do a Google search for Dog Whisperer and it will come up.

I love this show. My Tivo is set to pick up every episode. Most of the time Cesar has to work harder training the people than the dogs. He really has a gift.

DH and I are addicted to this show! It is amazing to watch him work. And the show has given me an appreciation of dogs that I never had before. I read that next season he is going to be working with some people who are deathly afraid of dogs. Looking forward to that.

Hi, I don't even have a dog yet am amazed at this guy. It's just fun to watch the change. I guess there really are no bad dogs just bad owners.

Yes, I've seen his show, and have used some of his tips (the doggy backpack!!). He is really amazing. But have you noticed how many of the dog owners on the show come across as clueless??

Sounds interesting - but they've actually killed a couple of dogs with their methods - they ran one to death on that damn treadmill.

I heard about that but didn't think the dog died, unless that is a recent event. He *was* injured on the treadmill. From what I have read Cesar Milan was not conducting the session, he was away on a book tour. Here's a link to the story:

Wow, that's sad about that dog that got hurt. As if the poor thing didn't have enough emotional problems. You said a couple dogs had been killed???

I still think Cesar is amazing. I used one of his techniques on little Mr. Gizmo this morning and it worked like a charm! I couldn't believe it. :)

Sadly we don't have any dogs to try the techniques on, though DH has tried to use them on me a couple of times. When I get bitchy he pokes me on the chin and goes, "Shhht!" So far it's not working for him. :p

(I'm kidding of course)

Sparrow,

That's funny! I'm sure it's just a matter of time before my DH starts that with me. He thinks he's pretty funny. :)

I used it on Gizmo again tonight on something else and it worked like a charm. What is up with that? I did the "Shhht" thing with the finger (not THAT finger) and his reaction was amazing.
