I just looked back at the thread about BILs bro and his accident, and I feel so overwhelmed by the thoughts and prayers that everyone has been sending! Thank you so much for your support during this tragedy. I have let my sister and BILs family know that there are a ton of people praying for them and they thank everyone of you.
Here is a little update...actually a long one. He came through the surgery okay. They were able to stop the bleeding and he was moving his toes and fingers which means that he is NOT paralyzed. However, his brain is swelling and hemoraging. He never regained conciousness. He has had a cat-scan everyday since he has been hospitalized that shows that he has a lot of dead brain cells resulting from the accident. Most of the dark areas of the charts show that the most damage is done on the recognition part of the brain (being able to identify a pillow, dog, house, etc.) and the part that regulates basic body functions such as maintaing body temperature, breathing etc. They have put him into a drug induced coma hoping that his swelling will go down. The pressure in his brain is immense, I mean, literally mind-blowing. You and I have a pressure of about 1 or 2 in our heads. He has a pressure of about 60. It has caused a lot of damage. They won't know the extent of it until he wakes up (or if).
I have not talked to any of the nurses or doctors, so I can't get any more detailed than that. I know that it is serious and he is not likely to survive off of life support. I continue to ask for your prayers and thank you once again for them!
