Sunday Peeping

Morning all. I'm heading upstairs to get ready for church in a couple minutes. I'm doing a KB workout later. A friend of mine who sells Avon is having an open house, so DD and I may make a trip into town to check it out.

Ellie, no chocolate. Until I got home and had a bite of a BIG Hershey's special dark bar.

Wendy, yikes, Houdini was a little imp yesterday, wasn't she? Sounds like the meds have cleared up her ears, etc. I love her creative use of your step. I'm with you in prefering kitchen work to yard work. I had high hopes, when my DD decided to major in horticulture, that maybe my shrubs and flower beds who improve, but she's touched nothing at home. I'm hoping to convince her that in payment for her living with us and our outlay of expense for her and the baby, she can at least do a design and some work before she moves out. Whenever that will be!

Catherine, I'm glad to hear your GTG was a success.

JJ, looks like your cold weather reached us overnight. We had high 50's yesterday, although it rained all day. Now it's in the low 40's and still rainy.

Vilma, seems to me I checked out the KB Way 2 and it was outrageously expensive. Am I right? Why do there workouts cost $50! Guess I'll have to hope for some Christmas $$.

Dani and Ellie, I haven't done DM in ages. Maybe I'll pull it out of the closet someday next week.

Karin, we have one maple tree in the front yard and usually don't have to rake leaves. They usually fall off and blow away. This year, they all seemed to fall at once and don't seem to be going anywhere. One of these days when I'm feeling energenic, I'll have to go see if we have a rake and get busy.

OK, I better get a move on. Taa till later.

Waves with a big cup of coffee in hand!! My head is so stuffy this morning  I am sure it will go away, but yuk!

Robin, how was your dinner out last night? Tell me which kb w/o do you have? I am shopping for another

I am planning the standing portion of B&Gs followed by Lauren's short kb w/o.

Hope everyone's Sunday is fabulous!!

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Good morning! My internet keeps going down this weekend, so I need to peep in here while I can. I may enjoy a fun cardio workout or a segment of Stretch Max before church. I am hoping to get together with a friend this afternoon.

Karin, yes, I preordered STS in January because the early presale price was the limit of what I was (and still am) willing to invest in a series. I counted the cost before I took the plunge. I imagine that I will either love STS or hate it and will not know for sure until I experience it firsthand. I would rather give up my washing machine and beat my undies against a rock in the river than ever do the Gym Style upper body workouts again, so I am taking a leap of faith with this preorder. I am a cardio queen and also enjoy cardio and weights in the same workout (like the 4-Day Split or circuit workouts). The thought of devoting an hour to 2 body parts is a bit daunting. How will I find time for my cardio fix that day?! The assurance that the lower body workouts will be like Butts and Guts is what got me excited about this. I love Cathe’s lower body workouts. The only 3-day split I like is the Slow and Heavy Series, but I usually lose my focus after 2-3 weeks of that. Eek! What am I getting myself into with STS? My goal for STS is to be able to do one push-up on my toes by the end! It will take an act of God for me to keep my focus and game face on for a 14-week rotation! My attention span is usually good for 3-4 weeks. Heavy weight rotations usually makes me gain weight too, so I will likely need to shoot my scale! LOL!

Robin, I am glad you had fun yesterday. I love dark chocolate. Yummy!

Catherine, I admire your discipline. Anyone who can resist cheesecake is amazing to me. Food and fun and friendship go hand in hand. It is hard for me to break the food-love connection. It is a Southern thing! How on earth did you get to be so normal around cheesecake?! The only food better than cheesecake is pumpkin cheesecake! LOL!

Hugs and waves to all the sweet Peeps who check-in today! I need to post this before I lose my internet connection again. Have a blessed Sunday!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Guten Morgen, Peeps!

Robin, you sound energetic today. :) Glad you had fun in Hershey! (And I'm so impressed it involved no chocolate!!) And YES DD needs to design your lawns/gardens!!! If she wants to experiment with Southwestern soil/foliage, I volunteer my yard for free!! LOL! You know what's funny? When I was in college, I had a picture in my head of what my gardens, lawn, etc. would be when I got married and owned a home. I mean, I was going to have flowers and rose bushes and potted plants on my doorstep to greet visitors...then I discovered I hated gardening. LOL so much for that plan!!

I'm sooooooooo tired right now. I think Houdini really wore me out yesterday. I did get up and do the step sections from Body Fusion and Stretch Max w/o equipment. I was supposed to attend a three hour seminar for new members at my church today but I just cancelled it. I just don't have the energy for a three hour class! I will spend the day with Houdini and we'll do our grocery shopping today.

It is 35 degrees outside right now. Brrr! But it will be sunny and 60 something later so it will be a nice day. Maybe Houdini and I can go for a walk later...

Today is my cooking prep day for the week. I will be making a whole wheat spinach lasanga to take for lunch, and a pumpkin cranberry bread for DH to take to a company potluck, and I'm trying a cranberry chutney recipe to go with panko-parmesean turkey cutlets for tonight. Hopefully it turns out ok!

Greetings and salutations to those who follow today & I'll be back later!

:) Wendy

Good Morning Peeps!!!

I too think it's amazing that SOME people can resist the 2 best foods in the world. Not me. I would have put the chocolate on the cheesecake!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Heather, I agree, the only thing better thank Cheesecake is PUMPKIN cheesecake. I didn't pre order STS because it seemed a little out of my league. But I'm moving along a little with weights so if you hate yours I'll buy it. I have never done one push up on my toes in my whole life. You are not alone!!! Except in the beating the undies on the rock thing!!! ROFLMAO!!

Wendy- where do you get these awesome recipes??? I am not a cook, but I am willing to try some new things. Our diet is pretty limited because my boys had food allergies. Egg, wheat, soy etc etc etc etc. They have outgrown all but Peanuts and tree nuts ( and we don't use red food dye) So we need to brach out a little more. Any ideas???

Catherine- joining you in the stuffy nose and coffee morning. LOVE my coffee. I obviously have allergies and we have had rain and wet leaves for 2 weeks. NOT helping. Feel better.

JJ- it was 70 and raining yesterday. Todaythe cold front moved in and it's 50 and windy Yipee at least it's sunny. I gotta have my sun dose :D:D

Vilma- are you loving kettlebells?? Where can I see a good video clip?

Karin- I live in a neighborhood with 40 year old trees. It's BEAUTIFUL, but it's months of raking and blowing. The leaves fall until december and they pick them up thru Jan!!! It's a BIG job.

Robin- how far into Pa are you?? I would love to plan a get together. I live near Cathe and yes there are a lot of bridges!!!! The only way out of NJ is by bridge, unless I drive all the way north a few hours and drive over the state line there. BUT, I can do the Ben Franklin bridge ( it's not too high). So we could plan something!!!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. We are off to church soon and then playing outside with the boys. DH will be gone all week again so I just might sneak in a nap after my workout.

ellie

Heather, it was easy for me to say no to cheesecake. I don't like it ;)

Wendy, your lasagna sounds yummy!!

Ellie, where's the coffee? Did you drink it all ;)

It was just snowing outside-ugggghhhh!! I'd rather it snow than have a cold rain like yesterday though!!

Morning Peeps

UGH...I got a bit of a liquid hangover this morning:eek: DH and I had a date night and I got a little carried away starting with a cosmo, then a glass of red wine, followed by a brandy:confused: Blech!! Don't even ask me about how much food I stuffed down my throat! Thank goodness for sweatpants.

On a happier note, it was snowing big fluffy snowflakes this morning so I took the dog for a long walk which helped to clear my head. Now, I'm just gonna curl up with a book and drink ton of water to flush out my system.

Robin~ Sorry about sending our crappy weather your way:eek: Sounds like you guys had fun at your GTG. Too bad Gayle couldn't make it but that just gives you another reason to plan another one!

Catherine~ I'm with you...not a huge cheesecake fan. I've heard the cheesecake factory has a huge menu and the food is good. We only have one in MN and I haven't been there yet (far drive). I'm supposed to be doing TGU this week  so I'll let you know how it goes.

Heather~ Bummer about your internet service. I'd go crazy without it. DH thinks I'm addicted:eek: I sincerely hope you like STS when you receive it. I haven't started the 1 rep max testing as it seems so overwhelming but will probably get started once the ship date is posted.

Wendy~ OMG...Houdini is adorable in her fall sweater. She certainly is a mischievous one but I promise you, one day you will look back on all this and smile. I remember when DD was 4 and I'm walking down the hall finding clumps of hair and here she is cutting her hair right up to her scalp! Right before her birthday party:eek: I just wanted to cry but now we actually laugh about it. AHHHH the memories;)

Ellie~ How are you feeling today after doing drillmax? Have fun playing with the boys and hope you can get your nap in too.

Waves Hi to Dani, Karin, Vilma, Laura and all peeps who follow! Enjoy your Sunday.

JJ

Hi Peeps!

I am trying to get motivated to get off the couch... had left over cold pizza for breakfast along with a cup of dark cream! lol! So, will really be jazzed in about an hour and will do KickMax today! It's supposed to be a rest day, but since I took more than my share this past week due to the interview/work meetings I missed a couple! start back on week 3 of Cathe's November Rotation tomorrow!!!

Robin: enjoy your Sunday!

Catherine: B&G always kicks my butt (as it is supposed to!) so hope you enjoy that and KB's! and I am with everyone else ~ in awe that you can be at a place called Cheesecake Factory and not EAT cheesecake... unless it is because you don't LIKE cheesecake! but we would prefer to bow to your extensive use of self restraint and willpower! :) I personally have NONE... can you pass that along with the BGR???

Heather: I felt the same as you about cardio workouts as they were my mainstay, go to workouts of all time. I never really knew there were other options such as circuits and weight training until I found Cathe on FitTV... actually my FIRST Cathe purchase was STS pre-order in August, then purchased some of her other workouts! I am finding right now that I am concentrating more energy in weight/strength training and less on cardio, which is not necessarily a good thing... I need to balance it out... I just love lifting, but need to get rid of the layer of "fluff" so you can actually see the muscle tone I am creating doing it! hang in there and see what you can do with STS. I love the fact that Cathe says that it is for EVERYONE no matter what fitness level you are at because you modify the weights to what YOU can do, not what others are doing!

Wendy: I always enjoy hearing the schinanigans of Houdini... BTW where did she get that knickname? I only started on the forums a few months ago, and it was already out there, so just went with it... do you call her that at home too, or just on the forum? :) she certainly is a cutie! and definately has the "look" in her eye that says "don't even think about keeping up with me!" bwaaahaaahaaa!!! :)

Ellie: I agree about the cheesecake AND chocolate... what would be better than the two together! DH makes a FAB chocolate PB cheesecake, with an Oreo crust!!! BC (before Cathe) I would have had that with chocolate sauce under, in and over the CC!! I saw your other thread this morning about premixes... I'm feeling so bad to think that you did the entire workout (I think it is 70+ minutes) after the week you have had and all I did was a lousy premix! LOL! still kicked my a$$ but I will have to make it up to you somehow! I also can't believe that you didn't order STS!? You can do it!!! if you can do CM!!! I was/am a little askeered myself, but really love all Cathe's strength/weight workouts that I have (and have seen clips of) so I'm definately in! and you can't argue with the results, nor the fact that even those of us who are bored easily with same-o same-o you can't beat having a new workout 3 times a week for 3 months!!! just think about it won't you ;)

JJ: Wow! snow... I remember what that is... but can't say as I miss it at ALL! I spent 5 years in Anchorage, Alaska and couldn't wait to move!!! I live in Vegas now, but the heat is hard to get used to as well, but I managed! LOL!!! Sorry about your hangover! :) It's been awhile since I have managed to drink enough for that, but I've tried a few times! at least you had fun on your date night!

Vilma: I just noticed that your hard work paid off and SNM "stickied" your rotation list!!! I'm not sure how long it has been there but noticed it today when looking for todays November rotation workout! I have used it several times since I found it a few weeks ago, and will continue to review it when I'm done with Novembers rotation... so a big Thank You for that!!!

so a big hello to Karin, Laura, Gayle, and all who follow!

Dani- I left you a note in Open discussion. You know, so everybody could see it!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D

JJ- I could use a little of that liquid once in awhile. How was your date night??? DH and I need to do that when he's back in town. It's hard to always talk on the phone.
Drink plenty of water and enjoy your snowflakes. I wish it would snow here.
I love it!!!

Heather--I actually ordered STS then cancelled it. I think I had a big case of "I want to be like everyone else" as a motivating factor in my order. But when I really thought about it, I really like under 1-hour workouts for the most part, and doing weights 3X a week max, and the fact that I don't really lift heavy or have the intention of doing chin ups, etc. I cancelled. I will live through you all who order it, though! I can't wait to hear what people think of it...

Dani--Houdini got her name because she figured out to escape her crib. She is only called Houdini here with the Peeps. At home she is called P. When Houdini was taken home from the hospital, she was a mere 5 lbs, 14 ounces and had to be fed every three hours until she was over 6 pounds. So she was my little pumpkin; little sweet p. Then--around 4 months old she exploded with growth--98 percentile for height; 99 percentile for weight--and little P didn't suit her AT ALL. So we just call her Miss P now. She is still in the 96 percentile for height and when people see her they think she' s 3!! The pediatrician thinks she's going to be tall, which is funny because I'm barely 5'3 and DH is 5'10...

Ellie--I have lots of ideas for cooking for your kids! I will PM you some later. :)

Wendy

Hello Peeps!

Robin
- Yes I agree most of the kettlebell dvds are pricey unfortunately but I enjoy dvds and since I have no one in my area to go to for training its what I use. I applied the money from my canceled STS preorder to most if not all of my kettlebell purchases. Its a gift I give myself. I'm done though with anything else for quite a long time now.

Catherine That sounds like a very good workout you have planned there - Enjoy!

Heather I ended up canceling my preorder of STS for the very same reason you mention.
The thought of devoting an hour to 2 body parts is a bit daunting.
Heavy weight rotations usually makes me gain weight too
At this point I'm not really interested in lifting heavy to failure much anymore.

Not to mention the only clips of STS that got me excited was the bonus leg work which didn't use heavy weights at all everything else I felt 'meh' towards.

I really hope to hear reviews once its out and if I find its something I really want then STS will be there for purchase. I'm just having a great time with kettlebells in which I get both a cardio and strength workout in a very time efficient manner.

Wendy Sounds like Houdini was having a grand ol' time keeping you busy yesterday and her photo is so precious.

I can imagine your home smells yummy as you prep your meals for the coming week :)

Ellie
I am LOVINGg kettlebells. Hmmm where to peak at clips ... Lauren Brooks' site is one and this was my 1st kettlebell dvd purchase.

JJ Hey You! Sounds like you had a very nice date night - I have those with my DH and ugh those headaches are just horrible. Hope you are enjoying your day and flushing out those toxins well.

Dani
I had to drink extra expresso to just get my workout in today.

After all these years working out consistantly one would think its automatic for me to just get it done but there are days when I just don't wanna but I hafta. If I let more than a few days go without exercising its so much harder for me to get that motivation again. Here's Hoping you found yours today and kicked butt doing KM. :)

Yes I noticed that rotations post finally got a sticky. I'm glad too as so many people kept asking where the current listing was at. I'll just keep updating it as I know not everyone - myself included want to bother with the WM. I usually will print the month's rotation without needing to log in . So if it helps just one person then I'm happy :)

___

So today I did Squeeze Stronger for the 1st time. I felt it in all the right places ow!

A different workout than what I've done in the past but I really felt it deep inside those muscles and Oh a burn too.

I liked it so I plan on using the premixes along with my cardio and kettlebell days.

Here's Hoping everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday!
