Storage for Downloads

Murphymax

Cathlete
Hello, everyone, I took advantage of Cathe's Memorial Day sale and purchased a bunch more Cathe Live workouts. I save them to my computer and then copy them to an external flash drive to use with my DVD player. I am noticing the downloads take up a bunch of space on my computer. I really hate to delete them from my computer in case the flash drive malfunctions at some point.

Do you typically keep your downloads on your computer or do you copy them to more than one flash drive so you have back ups?

Thank you!

I keep downloads on my computer. In the past, flash drives have failed, so I don't trust them 100%. I think a second flash drive would be totally acceptable, as a backup. Computers can get compromised, after all.

I keep them on my computer, but also back them up to an external portable hard drive as I do other files I don't want to lose in case of a crash or some event that takes out my computer. You could also store them in the cloud if you have a subscription somewhere.
Debinmi, thank you.

I have downloads stored in my USB and in cloud. No problem at this point .

I would like to store more in an external drive as many cathletes.

Hope someone chime in regarding external drive .

Kind regards,

I have a iMac, with an external drive attached, and a program called Time Machine that automatically backs up the computer on a regular basis. If there is a problem, I can restore the computer to a date before the problem occurred. So I guess I have that backing up my Cathe files as well as the computer. we have reasonable internet now (recent option) so I could use the Cloud, but I am used to what I’m doing.

A back up is a must. Cloud is one of the best option.

No one want to end up not being to be able to workout solely relying on a flash drive.

I have a dedicated EXTERNAL DRIVE (15 TB) I keep all exercise videos (and workout sheets) on. I also have 2 external flash drives (each 4 TB portable SSD) that I use to play on my players. I am taking no chances on losing this stuff! I don't keep any copies on my computer.

Personally, I don't use a cloud, which is just somebody else's computer....

Thank you for sharing. What format are your worksheets? Hmmm that is interesting to know.
I am about to change my computer but I no longer want to store download on my new device.

I was going to ask the same question regarding the external hard drive. I would like to do that too. I have too many on my lap top and it does take a lot of space and slows it down. Anyone have suggestions or info on the external hard drive? Thanks

Gobias, I am not computer literate. Can you point me to where I can get more info on the external hard drive? I would like to look into this option. Thanks,

Of course. I hope these links work.

Here is an EXTERNAL drive I have. It plugs into your computer/laptop and instead of saving things to your computer/laptop, it saves items to the external drive (which you can then unplug and take it with you, put it in your safe, tuck it away in a drawer, or just leave it plugged into your computer/laptop, etc.) It is the size of a diary/journal. There are many different storage sizes and brands, so don't let the cost scare you.

[links don't work] Type in "Seagate Expansion Desktop, 16TB, External Hard Drive, USB 3.0 (STKP16000402)" into Amazon for an example of mine. I also have "WD 16TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive, USB 3.0, External HDD with Password Protection and Backup Software - WDBBGB0160HBK-NESN"

The above I use as a "backup" of everything. I use it as a "master" of all my data. The "portable" SSD I have is what I use to plug into my player to play my workout videos. It is small (size of a wallet), light, and still able to hold all of my videos. Type in "Crucial X8 4TB Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - PC and Mac - USB 3.2 External Solid State Drive - CT4000X8SSD9" in Amazon and this is an example of what I have. I take this portable SSD into my workout room, plug it into my player and my videos are played. I can also travel with this since it is so small and light.

Hope this helps.
