Socks--what kind & how often?

I find myself replacing--or at least buying several new pairs--socks a couple times a year. Not b/c they get stinky, but b/c they get yellowed (at which point they become stay at home socks ;)) or just come apart.

I like no show socks, but most no show socks ummm show. I stopped experimenting w/quality socks b/c they're so outrageously expensive, & I've found Hanes & No Nonsense to be reasonably priced & no show, but they don't have the cushioning better quality socks have.

Does anyone have any recs for a good cushioned sock that is truly no show? I am not dropping $25 on 3 pairs of Nike socks if I'm not gonna like them! :p

Goldtoe socks rock!

Hey Laura,

These are my favorite socks: 6 pair for $11.25 (yay for Kohl's sales!)

They are comfy, cushiony, and no show enough for me. :D

Recently, I found no show, cushioned socks at Target (on an endcap in the sock aisle) that I love just as much as the Goldtoe's and they are more "no-show" than the Goldtoe's. Of course, I can't remember the brand name and I can't find them on the website. They are $5.99 for 3 pair.

Good luck!

I've actually found low cut (below the ankle bone) socks at Payless that I like, they get thin w/in a few month, but the are cushy and cheap. They are whatever the Payless brand is, they come in a 3 pack and are generally white w/ a colored stripe. I call them my "fast socks" bc they have racing stripes:p Alas, they don't make me run any faster:p:confused::p

I also like the Joe Boxer socks at Kmart, they are nice and cushy on the bottom and last a lot longer than the Payless socks. They don't show, and are quite comfy. I actually like them better than the Hanes. The Hanes fit too loose (and I have big feet) and that leaves sock bunches in my shoes which is not comfy.

I gave up on expensive socks, they aren't worth it. Plus, I find great happiness in a fresh new pair of socks. Ahhhh...happy feets!!!! Cheap happiness. Life is good.:)

I like the Hanes Sport ones, they come in 3 packs and they kind of show, but I don't have to replace them very often and they have good cushioning. I also like Danskin and Champion socks. I'm cheap, I get mine at Walmart or Target.

I have gotten rid of almost all workout socks except for two brands: Thorlo (when I want cushioning) and Balega (when I want blister prevention). Both have no-show or almost-no-show (just a tiny rim of white showing over the top of the sock).

The only disadvantage to these socks, IMO, is that you cannot use bleach on them (it weakens the fabric) so mine are pretty skeevy looking even when freshly washed (but the 'no-show' ones don't look it when I'm wearing shoes).

I buy the cheapie PEDS and I LOVE them. They are the only socks that do not give me blisters. And, better yet, they are really cheap.

I love my Thorlos!

I wear the runners mini crew, which doesn't show at all. It's called the Women's mini crew Run-10.

My most cushiony socks are Champion - the bottoms are gray and a bit thicker than the top of the sock. I can feel the difference between them and some of the cheapies I got at Costco. I believe I bought 6 packs or a 12 pack somewhere - there are colors in the "C" on the heel.

Have lots of socks so these have been around for years but I can go probably two weeks without wearing the same pair !

I like these, which I bought at Roadrunner Sports (thin and comfortable):
