Slow and Heavy

I have the following Cathe strength DVDs: SS/PP, Power Hour/MIS/Body Max, PS, LG (on DVD w/ KPC), and PLB/PUB. I'm considering getting S&H - would this add variety to what I already have? Right now I'm working on firming up/adding definition to my muscles. Also, by the term "heavy" in S&H, is that relative to each person? Thanks!

Heavy definitely is according to the person. I absolutely love this series and it is definitely different as all the reps are performed with a slow count. I actually had to start off lighter with my weights due to the slow count, but eventually was able to go heavier. It is great for increasing your strength.

I'm a exercise newbie (only been at it since March and with Cathe for two or three months) who just started adding targeted strength workouts to my routine and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE S&H. I'd say that "heavy" is definitely a relative term. I started out with fairly light weights in most cases because I'm concentrating more on keeping good form, but I was surprised that I was often able to increase weight significantly (and sometimes even match Cathe!) for certain moves. For most of them, however, I'm at about half Cathe's weight but even after my second go-round I can feel myself getting stronger. I need to buy heavier dumbbells (any excuse to buy more is a good one).:)

Looks like you're building a collection of strength workouts. S&H would be a great addition. Yes, "heavy" (or "moderate" or "light") varies from person to person. Don't think about how heavy the other person can go, but what's the RIGHT weight for you at a particular time. As you keep going, your "heavy" weight will eventually get even heavier.
