shorts or pants for workouts?

Cathlete
I'm curious what other cathe-ites wear for their workouts.
I usually wear shorts because I get so hot, but I pulled my
hamstring muscle doing "hammer punch lunge kicks" during the Kickmax
blast section. Anyway, I wondered if pants would have kept my muscles warmer and maybe have prevented the pull? (Note, I did the blast right after the warm up without doing the combos)
If pants are better then I have the perfect excuse to buy some new
cute clothes!
Thanks for helping!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.:) :)

For me it depends on the weather. Since most of my work-outs are 5am, and I keep the heat in our house down to 65 at night, when it is cold out, I wear pants. However, once it warms up and gets humid, I switch to all shorts.

Being a SAHM I usually workout before lunch(while there watching a dvd in bedroom)so most of the time it is pants/tanks,which I bought supper cheap at walmart!

ETA-Love your quote!

pants and shorts may not have much to do with it. but you could certianly try both to see how it feels for you. i've worn both (pants and shorts) and capris and haven't noticed a difference with my muscles. they are always warm after a warm up. maybe you could do an extended warm up or your muscles may have needed an extra stretch?

either way, it's always fun to buy more cute outfits! ;-)

For cardio I always wear shorts, I have a lovely collection of old lady cardigans (very stylish...not..) which I wear until I start to break a sweat (for me that takes about 47 seconds). If I'm doing no cardio (weights or yoga) I usually wear capris length pants. I work out in the basement and it's darned cold down there. When I'm on the floor after my workout doing abs or stretching the evaporating sweat steams off of my skin.

Take Care

depends on the temperature.... i work out in my garage year round.... it can be in the 50's out there in the middle of winter (BRRRRRRRRR) and 80's-90's in the summer (in the 100's if for some reason i have to work out in the evening.... which is rare)

so it's shorts in the summer or when the temps are warmer and pants in the winter!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

For me, I wear shorts from Dress Barn that I've had a few seasons. They are not athletic in any way but are comfortable with an old T shirt. I do wear a sweatshirt until I warm up. My living room is quite cold in the winter. In the summer, I would like to keep working out inside instead of out to maintain my stamina.
One of the perks of working out at home, fashion is not an issue.

For cardio I wear shorts, for strength, yoga or pilates I wear capris. I live in Mississippi so it's rarely cold enough to need long pants.

Almost always shorts at home (Nike low rise being the preferred version--I have them in every color) and ALWAYS pants/capris to the gym. I might have a 30 year old body, but I definitely have 40 year old skin. :p

I used to wear shorts exclusively. I wore Champion's compression shorts. I think that's what they were called. They were excellent at supporting my muscles and would probably help with your muscle pull. However, I don't think they make those short anymore.

I have since started to switch my outfits around. It depends on the weather and the workout I intend to do. In winter, I almost always wear pants or capris. It's too cold in our basement where I workout and takes too long for my muscles to get warm. I don't want to risk pulling a muscle. In the summer, I wear shorts. There are certain workouts though that I have to wear shorts for. I get too overheated no matter what time of year it is. The Imax workouts come to mind.. ;-) I don't see how Cathe and crew filmed those workouts wearing pants and some of them are wearing long tops too! I think I would have passed out!

Pants

I don't know if wearing pants reduce any pulled muscles. There are other reasons I chose to wear pants, mainly Nike cardio. I love how my legs look slimmer and leaner in pants than in shorts. I've taken to wearing them in public since they are more modest, cute and comfortable. The fabric wicks away any sweat. It keeps me cool without causing my legs to chill like they do if I wore shorts. I only own one pair of shorts, Nike low rise. I can't stand capris. I look like a hobbit in those.
