SHOPPING

I haven't been shopping since the fall I think, but I've stolen some time today to go. I'm armed and ready with my Trinny and Susannah rules. I need everything. Work clothes, play clothes, jewelry, shoes, underwear. How will I do it all??? I know it's silly, but I'm really excited. I should be working, but the heck with it. It's time to SHOP!! Gotta got that economy strong again! :+ :7

LOL! Go for it! I think a lot of the stores have sales today, too. I desperately need a new pair of jeans (wear them to work constantly--my favorite pair has a huge rip in the crotch and I can't wear it anymore). Considering white jeans from the Gap...shudder.... Haven't had good experiences with Gap clothes, but the jeans look nice. Where do you plan to shop?

im the same way, havent been shoppin since last year someitme but I hate goin shoppin when theres so many people there so ill wait til some week night. have fun! and go a little crazy!

I went shopping yesterday with DD. Got myself some cropped white low rise jeans from The Gap and the same pair in a washed khaki colour. Got her cute capris and skirts and running shoes and sandals. T-shirts for my SO and a CD he wanted.

I'm looking for shoes. They are proving elusive.

Nancy---Have fun girl! Shopping is one of my FAVORITE past times!}( :p }(

Yes, My daughter and I went shopping yesterday and found some good deals. We both tried on some bathing suits and I actually found one that I liked. I bought some shorts , shirts, and capris. I rarely like to shop so I made a whole day of it. The only thing is we walked around for six hours and I had on sandals. Well with my foot trying to get better, I made things worse with the sandals. Should of used my head.

Me and my daughter had a really good time, especially with all the sinful eating we did.

Nancy,

Good Luck and have fun! I love, love, love to shop!

I had wanted to go shopping today, but CleanMax took longer than expected.

I am looking for white jeans, and some cute sandals to wear with all of the new skirts I bought, but haven't worn yet because the weather has been so crappy.

Oh well, maybe next week...

I'm sorry to report that despite my enthusiasm, I didn't do very well. Bloomingdales usually has the largest petite department of any store, but today it was downright small. They moved everything around and almost eliminated the petite dept. Almost no casual stuff at all. I was all set and armed with my credit card to get the economy back on its feet, but there was nothing to buy. I got some summer jewelry, but no clothes at all. :( What a disappointment!

On the positive side, my DH met me and we went to the Museum of Modern Art and went to dinner in Curry Hill. Had some great Indian food and drank a couple pints of "Taj Mahal" beer, which was great.

Any petite New Yorkers out there with some tips about where to shop? I'm desperate!

oh, that sucks about the shopping bust! but at least you got to hang out with dh. i have never had indian food. are you gonna try a different store soon?

Ugh--that sounds frustrating. Have you tried Ann Taylor? I love their clothes, and they seem to have a pretty large petite section. If it's any comfort, I tried the Gap *and* Lucky Jeans today and found nothing worthwhile.

Ann Taylor has a lot of petites? Thanks, Bunbun. Great tip. I'll have to try it on my next day off, if there ever is one. Sigh.

Nancy,

I second Ann Taylor. I love to shop there, and I have noticed the large petite section.. The Ann Taylor Loft store is more casual.

Beverly

Thanks, Bev. I'll try that next.

I usually do well in the Eileen Fisher dept. of Bloomingdale's but what little they had was all racer-back tank tops and spaghetti-string camisoles. It's like they forgot that some women actually have to wear bras under their clothes.

And the colors were all wrong. Army fatique green and washed out beiges are just not options for me. I'm in the "cool and bright" category in the T&S book. I can't do muted colors and pastels. Like I can do fuscia, but I can't do pastel pink. Of course the store was filled with pastel pink.

Sigh.

I think the key is you have to shop often, and pick up one piece here and one piece there. Apparently, you can't come in after 6 months hoping to buy an entire wardrobe.

Yup, Shelley, all the pants are cropped. Trinny & Susannah are opposed to capri and cropped, but frankly I don't mind them at all.

I'm so glad they are still doing low-rise on pants, which is my favorite cut. I see Ann Taylor has a low-rise style, which I'll have to try.

Nancy:

I find shopping such a dismal experience that I now do most of my shopping online.

Try jcrew.com for work suits, try anthropologie.com for fabulous, unique casual wear, particularly skirts in great designs, try jjill.com for linen separates, camisoles, etc and they regulalrly have sales. I usually go to them at the end of the Summer for their linen sale.

I get my shoes from naturalizer.com and also Dansko sandals from ebay! I also get my jewellery and perfume from ebay also.

That keeps my closet together!

Clare

Definitely Ann Taylor! They have a great petite section. :7

The Limited has Petite sized pants and jeans too! :)

Have fun!
