You have my sympathies! My DH works long hours and travels a lot, but he does do a lot of the traditional man-things and he deals with the financial stuff because he's an accountant. I do have to tell him every single time if it's the day to take the trash out, but he does it if reminded. In fact, we have the duties split so well between man/woman stuff that I sometimes feel like a total 50's housewife.
So I don't have too much trouble with him not helping enough. What I have trouble with is his attitude. He doesn't appreciate how busy I am every day. I think he thinks I sit around eating bon-bons. I don't sit around and it's cookies, thank you very much. I do spend time working on my website and blogs (but he thinks that's useless because I don't make money with them) but I am kept busy all day with two kids and now a puppy. I do have a 6-year old in school and the 3-year old is in nursery school 3 mornings a week. Those 3 mornings are quickly eaten up with appointments, grocery trips, cleaning, etc., though. The web stuff is just my way of having an identity outside of the children, if that makes sense.
Anyway, not sure if this is remotely helpful as I'm just ranting along with you. I wish you the best and send you ((((hugs)))), though, and I think you've gotten some stellar advice already.
