Running Clothes

As the weather is getting colder, I was wondering if the runners out there could recommend running clothes for the fall and winter. Please be brand specific, I know I need a jacket can anyone recommend something that is also waterproof - did my first 5k two weeks ago in the rain - a nice waterproof lightweight jacket would have come in handy.

I have gloves from Nike that I really like. Also, running pants for the fall/winter.

Thanks in advance

:)

I tend to use Nike or Adidas. I get them at any sporting goods place (Dick's,Modells, etc.) I try to get it on sale. My mom lives in Gettysburg, PA and has a great outlet center near her that has an Adidas and Nike srote, and I'm going up there this weekend:) You can try there websites and request a catalog... Hope this helps,Kay

I'm looking into the same thing for walking (my last 5K of the season will be November 1).

I came across a site on "what to wear for running" (and walking REAL FAST would be the same, IMO), and they suggested a windproof vest (not jacket) for mildly cold weather, so that's what I'm planning on. (I'll be wearing a long-sleeve top underneath made of wicking fabric, and can roll up the sleeves if necessary).

FYI: here's the link. It allows you to get a list of clothing based on temperature, wind, conditions (sun or rain) and how YOU like to feel when running:

Also, get under layers that wick the moisture away, this will keep you warmer. I know by mile 1, I'm already breaking a sweat, even with temps. in the 30s.

Thanks all.

I will definately check out the article - I love the runnersworld website - surprised I haven't seen this article. I love the nike convertible jacket that Janie1234 posted the link for - just don't love the $100 price - but with the holidays coming upon us soon, maybe this would be a good gift. I to get warm very quickly - am wondering how easy it is to take the sleeves off when running or do you need to stop to do this?? Also, if you have this, how did you find the sizing - I am never sure whether to go with my size - prob a small or order up one to a medium. I have been looking in stores for a jacket and have not come across this - so I am guessing I would need to order online.

I also found this jacket at llbean while doing a search - was curious if anyone has this and could say if they like, love or was disappointed with it. I usually start with gloves in the colder weather, but need to shed them as soon as I get warmed up.

Saw an infomercial on espn I think, about some new athletic material that is supposed to be better than moisture wicking. Has anyone seen that, because I can't remember what it's called...and it may be something we'd like to look into :confused:
