I would love to find a challenging, intense, low impact dance type workout video. I really don't care about the type of music but something beyond the basic turns and grapevines would be good. I would like to get to something near a Cathe-intensity level.

I was thinking about Turbo Jam but it looked more like kickboxing (I have a TON of them). At least the one I looked at. I already have quite a few Latin ones and most are not really very hard. It's hard to get a good idea from the video sites even from the clips. I was even thinking about Dance Dance Revolution for the wii :p

Any suggestions? Does this exist?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

have you looked up petra kolber. she has some pretty good dance oriented floor cardio. also christi taylor, although not strictly dance she does have good intensity and makes it "dancy". i like jennifer galardi workouts for strictly dance but i can't say she has that high intensity but i do love her choreography.

Most of the Turbo Jam workouts are more dancy than they are kickboxing. I would consider the intensity intermediate. They are fun fun fun! I double them up for a more intense workout.

I love Petra. I looked at her recent one (Dance 123??) and it looked like the intensity was less. I'll look back at some of her older ones.

I've not done any Christi or Jennifer. I'll look them up.

Thank you

Thanks for the personal review. It helps :D

Have you tried Kari Anderson? She does step and hi/lo. I don't know if she's released anything lately, but she has a great older hi/lo one she did with the Seattle Dance Company. Not super high intensity, but you could easily make it harder. I found that one difficult to master, which is fine by me. I prefer very complex choreography.

I've heard of her but not done her workouts. I'll check into that as well. tyvm :)

Patrick Goudeau has some great dance workouts. His are complex but do get the heart rate up. I also love Lisa Nunziella's 5-Day Latin System and Red Hot Salsa 2. She works at a fast pace, TIFTs a lot but doesn't stop. You can find clips to these at collagevideo.com.

I have an old one from Lisa. I didn't think it very challenging. Do her newer ones have a higher intensity?

I've done one of Patrick's. I agree on the intensity. However I couldn't get the steps down enough to actually get a good workout.. other than my poor brain :p Do you have a suggestion on one of the simpler (relatively speaking) choreographed ones?

Thanks again

Babindy - Which one of Lisa's do you have? Her Red Hot Salsa 2 keeps the intensity up. Also on her 5-Day Latin System, all of them are pretty good except for the rumba which is a slower dance and won't keep your heart rate up but is still fun to do. She also does Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha and Samba.

As far as Patrick goes, if you stick with him and learn the choreography, you'll get a great workout but I agree he can be very frustrating and you might not get a great workout the first few times. It's been awhile since I've done his dance workouts, but his Aerobic Dance Moves and Dance Remix are probably his best.

A fun workout which wasn't too hard to follow was Carlos Arias' CIA 2802 from last year - Latin Explosion. He's not as hard as Patrick to follow and it was a medium intense workout. The Soca (follow the leader section) was fun. He also does a short ab section and stretch.

Another one to try is Dancing with the Stars Cardio Dance - the jive section was the best and will definitely keep your heart rate up.

Marcy - I think my Lisa one is one of her (if not the) first. I can't remember which Patrick one I have either but I remember he does some cheerleader type stuff which was too high impact for me. His energy is amazing though. I would have never guessed the Dancing with the Stars. Thanks for the review.

All great suggestions. I'll be spending some time at collage (I should be a shareholder with all the business I've given them over the years :eek: ) I'm definitely getting at least 2 of all these. Thank you all {{hugs}}
