powerstrike millenium

I am looking for some information about the powerstrike millenium workouts. Are they worth buying? How is the production value? I can't stand working out to dvd's with poor lighting, sound, etc!
Are they similar to Cathe's style of kickboxing?

I've tried the third in the series. The production value isn't as good as Cathe's. The stage is a bit dim for taping purposes, but not too dim you don't see the instructors and participants. The workout is taught by two instructors. The cueing is good; not great, but good enough for me to follow about 90% of the workout my first time through, and without previewing. I wasn't crazy about the close-ups of the instructor's faces and arms so much, since that kept me from the flow of the workout, but there wasn't too much of that. Not similar to Cathe's style at all. This is low impact, high intensity (to me, anyway), definitely knee-friendly, and the combos seem more intricate than Cathe's. I say "seem" because I've just tried it, and once I totally "get" the workout, it won't feel hard anymore. I felt that my obliques got worked very well, and I got more form pointers from this workout than from any other kickboxing workout I've done, including Cathe's. Lots of multiple kicks, so my legs got worked well, too. I felt like it started slow, but I was drenched in sweat when I was done. I still have to find time to try the first two. Looking forward to that.:)

Hi Maria,

I have Powerstrike Milennium 1 & 2 and I think they're DEFINITELY worth getting. They are similar in style to some parts of KPC. These are actually my favorite kickboxing workouts.

The production style is okay - not the quality of Cathe, but good enough that it isn't a distraction. I also really like the music they use.

Like Pinky said, the workout starts out innocently enough, but I'm soaked by the time I finish. I love the intensity level of these.

I actually just bought Powerstrike Milennium 2 - and received the video (not DVD like I ordered) in the mail yesterday!

BUT, I decided not to try it today, because my biceps and back are sore from Pure Strength's BB&A ---
so instead, I did the cardio of body max today, with the plan of trying it tomorrow. And while I was doing the heel-hop-jumping jack thing, I got frustrated at a set of my dumbells being in the way.. but not wanting to stop, I just tossed one aside.... yup, right on top of the powerstrike milennium 2 video. Crushed it.

This is in no way going to help you with your decision .....

Damn Ruppie, that's messed up. I hope you can get another one.

I have PSM III on dvd; had it for maybe 2 wks., and I can never get beyond 20 mins of it. Not that it's not good, but something is AlWAYS coming up preventing me from doing this particular w/o.

Maybe tomorrow????

Anyway I love what I see and can see how the arms and legs can benefit from it.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I didn't think vol. 1 & 2 were available on DVD. Where did you order it from?

Bummer about the weight.

Oh man, Gayle!!! Sorry!
I just went to where I got it to double check before telling you(homeworkout.com), and see that there is, in fact, not a DVD option. You're right, it must not be available on DVD!!!! That's my fault- I had such an issue with Beachbody with getting my P90X in the right format, I just assummed it was another mistake like that!!

SORRY!!!

hehehe but now my video LOOKs like a DVD!! All flat! How ironic!

I LOVE the Powerstrike Millenium series and own all three. I've only done 3 and 1 so far. 3 is more intermediate when compared with 1. I'm just returning to exercising, so I had to walk it out quite a few times doing #1. I can now do #3 without walking it out.

I'm a big POWERSTRIKE fan!! I LOVE THEM!!!

Mary

Mary, I agree. The first one is harder than the third. I have yet to try the second, maybe sometime this week. PM1 gave me DOMS in my butt for three days! I also felt it in my hips, with those multiple roundhouse kicks. I haven't had DOMS like this since I first tried LL, which was almost 2 years ago.

Ilaria Montagnani made some mistakes in cueing in PM1, which didn't bother me at all. I felt like I was attending an actual class.

I've tried PM3 and PM1 only once, but I know I'm addicted to these workouts now and will be doing them often. I was very disappointed with KM, so I got the Powerstrikes and I'm now regretting not getting them SOONER. I love the instructors. The production value isn't great, but the workouts more than compensate for it.

I'm trying to find out where I can get more info on these. I googled it but can't find anything. Does anyone have a link?

Pinky,
Let us know what you think of Volume 2 when you try it.
I've never heard of PM before and Netflix doesnt carry their DVD's.

Susan, I just did volume 2 and it just about killed me.}( I found the combos easier to follow than those in volume 1, but they were just as intense. They did the squat/side kicks that Cathe does in KPC, but they added more afterwards -- a combo that had front kicks, a knee smash, side kick, and scissors followed by another long combo of fast punches. Volume 2 has you working for about 25 minutes on the left side, then 25 minutes on the right. It ends with arm drills and blocks with plie squats. The arm drills were only about 2 minutes long, but my shoulders and arms were on fire only halfway through because of the speed of the punches. The stretch was long enough to soothe my tired body. The production value was better than in Volume 1. I'll be doing the Powerstrikes more than I'll be doing any of Cathe's kickboxing. This is the way I like to do kickboxing -- something that takes more from martial arts and less from hi/lo aerobics and/or plyometrics.

Thank you Pinky for getting back to me Volume 2. I think I'll purchase that one.
Is Vol. 2 more challenging than Vol. 1 as far as lower body is considered?

If you want to do front, back and side kicks, volume 2 is it. Volume 1 had a lot of roundhouses, which I liked, because they hit this hard-to-target part of my hips. Volume 2 raised my heart rate more than 1 and 3 did. Maybe I was just tired, or maybe I didn't feed myself adequately before I did the workout... but I had to pause the video several times with volume 2.

Shelley,
I am not sure if you are aware of this but you can order them at cksales.com for us canadiian people.
I have all 3 of them and I enjoyed the 3rd one the most. The first two had the same music.Thats something else that bothers me. The same song just keeps playing over and over.I also agree with everything Pinky posted. BUT with that said, its the best kickboxing workout I have ever done. I am not a kickboxing fan and I haven't even tried kickmax yet:eek: I should incorporate in once a week though, it may slim my waist down a little.
