Photofacial RF

Has anyone had a Photofacial RF done, combined with alternating microderms, and if so how were the results? Just trying to find out some other opinions. Thanks, Pam :7

Hello Pam. I've had photofacials done before I don't know if they were RF or not I don't even know what RF is so please let me know so I can learn something new. Anyway my problem is severe rosacea and when it's out of control I get really noticeable spider veins on my face. I used to combine photofacials for the whole face and a treatment called vasculight for the spider veins and it worked. I was going on a regular basis till my skin tone got even (well was as even as it could go without my skin being or looking burned) There is no cure for my skin condition so I have to go back every once in awhile and it is not cheap! There are a lot of reasons you might want to start a photofacial treatment (rosacea, acne scarring, wrinkles, stains, uneven skin tone, etc.) I don't know what yours are. Just remember that everybody is different. I would say that compared to regular dermabrasion and CO2 Laser treatments, photofacials and microdermabrasion are way more gentle and you don't have to spend time recovering, but you don't get results as quickly. Good luck with whatever you decide :)

Rose11,
Thanks for the info. I was diagnosed with rosacea this year and although it isn't severe, it is annoying with the constant "bump" breakouts and eye styes. I am currently on metrogel but it doesn't seem to work all that well. Would you mind giving more details about photofacials and how they work? I used to get echo2 facials at a day spa, but they seem to make my rosacea worse and I would like to find something that works.

Thanks!!

Rhonda

Hi Rose11, the RF means Radio Frequency, this they said will help with the tightening and lifting of underlying facial muscles. The photofacial if called photofacial rf with elos technology. The dermatologist said it would be a total of 5x each of photofacial, 2 weeks later, microdermabrasion, 2 weeks photofacial etc. I am doing it for wrinkles and uneven skin tone. But they said to wait after the summer because you cannot be tan. :)

Hello again. I'm trying to reply to both of you. :)

I'll have to ask my dermatologist if my photofactial treatment is called RF or not. I know it's done by laser and the laser beam is controlled at a certain radio frequency depending on your skin tone and condition, but that's just the physics of the machine. I've had both the harsh treatments (regular dermabrasion and CO2 laser) and the more gentle ones (microdermabrasion and photofacials). There are several types of rosacea and in my case I don't get bumps on my skin, it just gets ridiculously red (like a bad sunburn) and I get networks of spider veins on every red spot. My skin is really pale so it looks scary when I don't have it under control. Make up helps cover it, but it is not an alternative to treatment. The photofacial treatment involves first clean skin. The doctor cleans your skin completely and then applies a gel. The laser is very gentle and the device works on top of the gel so you feel it a little bit, but it doesn't hurt. As Pam said you cannot be tan and after treatments you have to wear at least SPF 15 even if it's raining. What the laser device does is it exfoliates your skin and eventually the red areas of your skin will blend with your skin tone. If your rosacea is like mine, your skin tone will never be completely even, but it looks better with treatment than without (a whole lot better). The treatment is not permanent (that also goes for microderms and vasculight), it works for what you have now, but you can get new red spots, new spider veins, new wrinkles, etc. (and you will) so you will have to go back for touch ups. Hope this helps.

I just wanted to pass on a cream that has really helped my rosacea-its called Plexion TS. Metrogel didn't do squat, but this really helps.

Thank you Rose11 and BethJ!! I am trying to stay informed about this disease and how to control it. BethJ I assume what you are talking about is a perscription cream? Is it very costly? I am with you when you say Metrogel doesn't "do squat"!

Thanks again for the info!:)
