Perfect Pushup

Hi Everyone -

Who else has bought the "perfect pushup" hand contraptions thingies...? My DH bought these for me, but I've not tried them yet. Wondering what others opinions are of them. I'm thinking they'll help me with my chest workouts. I used to be able to do 60 pushups in 2 minutes, but ....not anymore....

I got them for my DH for Christmas (but I know I will use them). I've only used them once so far, but really liked them. They seem to be a well made product. Not a necessity, but a fun way to mix things up.

I saw the commerical for these and wondered about them. It looks like they would make the push ups much harder, right? I'm curious to hear from those who have tried them.

Yes, I thought they made the push up harder because it allows you to go deeper than on a regular push up. I did a few on my toes and then finished on my knees.

I got them for $20 at Walmart. I've seen them advertised on TV for twice that.

I got them too for Christmas! I've only practiced with them, but do seem to be able to go lower for the pushup and it's easier on my wrists.

Meanwhile, as i continue to do 90% "girl" push ups on my knees, my 8 year old son gets on the handles, and does about 5 straight leg push ups in perfect form!!

Life is not fair!!

I got these for Christmas after I convinced my Mom to get them a few months ago and she LOVES them! The woman's a maniac--she can do almost a hundred pushups on her toes and she can't get enough of these! I like them a lot. Like another poster said--they're not necessary but a great, fun way to mix it up and play with pushups (which I will forever dread!)

DH got me some for Christmas. I used them yesterday and love them! Am very sore today, although I've been slacking lately so anything would probably make me sore...

I think these are very well made and easier on the wrists. However, DH paid $40 at Dick's, am surprised Walmart had them for $20. That's a good deal.

Anyhow, I highly recommend them!

I already have handles for push ups that make it easier on my wrists. What I am curious about is whether the twisting motion makes a big difference. If I were to purchase them, it would be for that, not just the fact that they are like handles.

Thanks for everyone's input. :)

Jeanne Marie,

I'm no expert, but to me, the rotating handles help to make the movement feel more natural. My elbow clicks with normal push-ups and my shoulder has been bothering me lately, but with the Perfect Pushup my elbow didn't click and my shoulder didn't feel strained. And as I think I said in my other post, these did make the movement easier on my wrists (which your handles already do anyway).

According to the website, "the rotating handles engage more muscles and reduce strain on the joints". But, if your regular handles work fine for you and you have no other issues, then they're probably not worth getting. My husband wanted my Christmas list so these were a no-brainer. But I'm not sure I would've gotten them otherwise, at least not until the price came down. But if you see them for $20 like another poster did, then maybe you should splurge! Ha, not much help...

I don't have them but have tried them (a friend loves them!). They do make the pushups tougher so you might not get as many done in a set but great for building strength!!
